I recently watched this surprisingly good movie with some friends. It is based in post-WWII Canada, where 14-year-old Ralph Walker goes to a strict Catholic school. His father was killed in the war, and his mother, who is extremely ill, falls into a coma.
Convinced that his mother needs a miracle to get well, Ralph decides that this miracle will be running in the Boston Marathon and winning it.
By the end of the movie, I found that I was cheering for Ralph just as if it was a live sporting event! It is an extremely uplifting movie that everyone will love. I don't recommend it to kids younger than twelve though, because it has some nudity (when Ralph sees into the girl's dressing room), some foul language and some strong thematic elements.
