Cage plays a pathetic character and it takes tragedy to get his life together.

In 'The Weather Man' Nicolas Cage is David Spritz, a local weatherman in Chicago. Despite all his success, neither David nor his estranged family are happy and he can not figure out why.

I did not think this movie was particularly great. Nicolas Cage is really good and takes a departure from some of his usual roles. Normally he has played lovable characters, while here he plays a jerk. He is a jerk to his fans and his wife. He can not figure out why people do not like him and it makes him miserable. Nevertheless, everything seems to go his way despite his inability to get close to anyone. Cage plays a pathetic character and it takes tragedy to get his life together. His solution? He runs away and finds himself through archery. Kind of stupid I think.

All in all, I liked Cage and the way he played his character. However, the plot did not impress me a whole lot.
