Hell of the Living Dead!! A Bruno Mattei production.
22 August 2005
Hell of the Living Dead (1980) was another in a long line of Italian made zombie movies. DAWN OF THE DEAD was a huge success, so the film makers of Italian wanted to capitalize on it's release. In doing so, they created a whole new genre of horror films (the Italian Zombie Film). The euro-zombie films are different in genre and scope. A lot of them were filmed in Romascope and the zombies moved more like dead people (but that doesn't mean that they don't have a vicious streak in them). A lot of them were bad or laughable. Bruno Mattei creates a DAWN OF THE DEAD knock-off with some interesting results.

A squad of S.W.A.T. team members have just taken out a group of radicals. They were just trying to get the world's attention about the ever growing dangerous of "playing god". After a violent fire fight and earning another paycheck, the squad heads out deep into the jungle to aid a group of innocents. When they arrive at the village to escort the people to safety, they find themselves in something that all the training in the world could have never prepared them to deal with. ZOMBIES!!!!! What will happen to the squad? Who created these walking corpses? How will the living deal with the dead? To find the answers to these questions you'll just have to watch HELL OF THE LIVING DEAD!!

An entertaining movie that's filled with cheesy gore effects and bad acting. Even if this wasn't in dubbed English, the acting would still have been bad. Bruno Mattei is an average film maker at best, but he does created a watchable movie. Music by Zombie.
