B.T.K. Killer (2005 Video)
8/10
Fine, relentless portrait of Kansas slayer
8 August 2005
Wichita killer Dennis Rader is the subject of this unusually "in your face" style of serial killer movie, and the actor who portrays him does an excellent job of being relentless and threatening. In between the murders, we see slaughterhouse footage of animals being destroyed. This is intended to focus our attention on the interior state of mind of the BTK killer, and this material is very strong. During the murders, the killer is also shown tormenting the victims with rats and insects, which I don't think the real BTK ever did. But this does make the murder scenes more disturbing. Also, a nightmare scene that begins the movie is very frightening. Overall, a low-budget horror movie with some insights into this strange man and the lead role is very well acted.
