A Very Sweet and Tasteful Holiday Flick for Everyone
5 December 2002
This 2 hour-long Muppet special is a cute and funny Christmas movie, another great addition to Jim Henson's timeless miracle of the 'Muppets'. The human cast brings Award Winner Joan Cusack, as well as David Arquette and Whoopi Goldberg. Joan is no stranger to this type of comic role, a definate laugh-riot as the villianous 'Rachel Bitterman' and eye-catcher to the audience as this woman just seems to become more beautiful every year. So Joan Cusack was my overall reason for watching as usual, but the movie moves along with the same classic, un-matchable 'Muppet' humor that never fails to bring laughs..and perfect comic timing that can be compared to the early days of 'Saturday Night Live' (I don't mean for this to sound too Ebert-ish). Kermit is in a Holiday slump and gets a little help from above by Arquette and Goldberg, who lend their unmistakeable comedy trademarks to this sweet story...which gives funny parody to classic movies, current noteworthy characters, and subtle swexy (Sweet/Sexy) references for the grown-ups that'll make you fall in love with Joan Cusack and the 'Muppet' gang alike all over again. I'd give this movie 5 stars and the largest planet.
