This is the kind of referential comedy that thinks references alone make for great comedy (e.g., ha, ha! look, that guy makes a sound like Chewbacca!). References in comedy are only a starting point - it's the twist or insight you make with them that offers the opportunity for great humor. GEORGE LUCAS IN LOVE is content to let its references stand on their own. And it's for this reason that it's not only boring, it's a dispassionate mess.
