"You sick, lonely webcam freak!" Gravitas Ventures has revealed an official trailer for an indie thriller titled Exploited, from filmmaker Jon Abrahams. This is being dumped on VOD this week, and this trailer will paint a pretty clear picture as to why. A college freshman becomes obsessed with the previous owner of his school issued laptop. The mysterious disappearance of the webcam model ends up with their lives being manipulated and blackmailed. The film "tells a provocative story set on a college campus against the backdrop of a voyeuristic hacker. Real world fears such as personal privacy and camming are explored in this psychological thriller." The film stars Sierra McCormick, Makenzie Vega, Leah Pipes, Will Peltz, Spencer List, Jordan Ver Hoeve, Colin Bates, and Hannah Rose May. It doesn't look like there's much to see here - skip it.

The acclaimed Bob Dylan musical Girl From The North Country will play its final Broadway performance at The Belasco Theatre on Jan. 23, with producers saying they’re in advanced conversations with the Shubert Organization to re-open in the spring after the Omicron surge subsides.
The unusual announcement follows a similar plan confirmed by producers of Mrs. Doubtfire, which closed on Jan. 10 with the intention of returning to the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on March 14.

The sextet of queens of Six and each of the three Lehman Brothers – or rather the performers in the Broadway roles – may compete in the Tony Awards’ lead acting categories this year, Tony administrators announced today.
The decision to consider the individual members of those ensemble casts was among the first set of eligibility rulings made for the 2021-2022 season. The Tony Awards Administration Committee met yesterday in the first of the several eligibility meetings the group will have before the end of the season next spring.
This round of decisions mostly addresses acting category decisions, determining whether various cast members of often large ensembles fall into the lead slots.
A decision was also made on Trouble in Mind, the Alice Childress play originally staged Off Broadway in 1955 that had never been produced on Broadway until this season. As it did several seasons ago with Mart Crowley’s 1968 play The Boys in the Band,...

“Julia’s Eyes” helmer Guillem Morales is readying 1980s-set psychological thriller “Brother,” with WestEnd Films set to launch sales at the Cannes virtual market later this month.
Morales, one of Spain’s top genre auteurs, is best known for 2010 Spanish horror “Julia’s Eyes” (pictured), which was produced by Guillermo del Toro. The director recently won a BAFTA for his work on the hit BBC dark comedy anthology series “Inside No. 9.”
“Brother” is set in the early 1980s and located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. The pic turns on the depraved Morrow family, which lives off the beaten path and preys on young women whom they kidnap from the side of the highway. There’s unrest within the family, however, as their 19-year-old son Michael Morrow tries to break free from their clutches and escape his past.

Hadestown and Girl From The North Country announced their Broadway returns today, with the Tony Award-winning musical Hadestown set to become the first production to resume performances on Broadway when its curtain rises on Thursday, Sept. 2.
Girl From The North Country, the musical that features songs from Bob Dylan’s catalogue, will resume performances on Wednesday, Oct. 13.
The Hadestown re-launch will mark the first Broadway production to begin performances since the March 12, 2020, pandemic shutdown. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo had previously said that Broadway would be permitted to open at full capacity on Sept. 14, but Hadestown producers said today that the early opening was worked out in coordination with the Jujamcyn Theaters, owner of the Hadestown’s Walter Kerr Theatre, the Governor’s office and in cooperation with The Broadway League.
A spokesperson for Hadestown said the early relaunch is due to the timing of the Hadestown touring production schedule:...

Exclusive: Drew Van Acker, Alicia Silverstone and Stephen Moyer have just wrapped production on Shtf (Sh*t Hits the Fan), a sci-fi thriller directed by Drew Mylrea from a script by Josh Janowicz. Shooting just finished in Butte, Mt.
The pic is set in the aftermath of an apocalyptic event that forces people into extreme isolation. A father (Moyer) and son (Van Acker), who have been living off grid for 20 years, encounter an outsider (Silverstone) who threatens to destroy the utopia they’ve built.

You have to hand it to Clint Eastwood. With a career spanning decades both as actor and director, the veteran filmmaker is showing no signs to slowing down and is still just as motivated and excited by his craft in his late 80s, as he has always been. In his new film The Mule, which comes a year after the universally panned The 15:17 to Paris, Eastwood is back with a much tighter and decidedly more coherent story in a film about a 90-year old drug mule which is loosely based on a New York Times Magazine Article “The Sinaloa Cartel’s 90-Year Old Drug Mule” written by Sam Dolnick.
Earl Stone (Eastwood) is in his 90s, he is broke, lonely and estranged from his wife (Dianne Wiest) and daughter (Alison Eastwood). To make things worse, Earl is also facing foreclosure on his horticultural business, a foreclosure which he blames mostly on the internet.

So, almost by accident, Earl takes a job driving illegal cargo for a Mexican drug cartel from Chicago to El Paso. It’s not a job recommended by Aarp, but the old man figures he can make a few bucks to help his estranged family,...

Connoisseurs of late style, Assemble! Six years after Trouble with the Curve and ten since last directing himself, Clint Eastwood graces the big screen once more with The Mule, his (what else) quickly assembled true-crime picture about which, fans of the recent pictures that we are, is highly anticipated around here. (Say what you will about 15:17 — we kind of did — it’s thoroughly unlike any American studio film in recent memory.) Based on New York Times Magazine reporter Sam Dolnick’s profile from a handful of years ago, it concerns “an award-winning horticulturist and decorated WWII veteran known for his prized day lilies when he was busted for running drugs for Mexico’s Sinaloa Cartel, and sent to prison at the age of 90.” And they say actors of a certain age only get bad offers.

Clint Eastwood’s next directing/starring effort in crime movie The Mule will be a reunion with Bradley Cooper.
The Mule will see Bradley Cooper reignite a successful creative collaboration with the one and only Clint Eastwood. This time, however, Cooper, who was famously led to Oscar-nominated accolades with his starring role in the Eastwood-directed 2014 biographical military drama, American Sniper, will be joined onscreen by Eastwood.
Indeed, Clint Eastwood will not only serve as director of The Mule, but will co-headline the Warner Bros. film with Bradley Cooper, depicting the tale of an elderly drug courier. Eastwood works off a script by Nick Schenk, who wrote his successful starring effort in 2008’s Gran Torino.
The Mule Release Date
The Mule is scheduled to smuggle its way to theaters on December 14, just in time for Christmas.
