MTV's awards shows have, historically, created so many memorable moments that they could easily fill their own award show of memorable moments. Some moments were scripted and planned: Sasha Baron Cohen's bare bum descending upon Eminem's face at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards: planned. Kanye West rushing the stage during Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the 2009 VMAs: unplanned.
And speaking of Kanye, 'Yeezy may have inspired Aubrey Plaza, who — wearing a handwritten reference to her upcoming movie, "The To-Do List," on her décolletage — wandered up on stage during Will Ferrell's acceptance speech for the Comedic Genius Award.
Will Ferrell barely broke character, throwing subtle shade by saying "What's happening, are you okay? Aubrey Plaza, everyone! Just like we rehearsed it" and then continuing with his acceptance speech without missing a beat.
Did Kanye West Inspire Aubrey Plaza To Storm The MTV Movie Awards Stage?

Last week, to say the least, was a little crazy. As a producer here at MTV News, I was the very funny/talented/whipsmart Jim Cantiello’s right-hand-lady. Together, we worked to pitch, execute, and create great content around all things VMAs as the week ramped up (and I helped pick out his suit). I was also Jim’s eyes and ears for Thursday’s pre-show as well as the backstage Livestream which took place during the show, capturing all the craziness that occurred behind the scenes and talking to artists after they’d presented (hi, Mac Miller!) or won (Rihanna!).
One couple who I was so excited to see were the in-love and engaged Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa, who I’d talked to on “BFFs” and “First Date,” respectively. I’d heard rumors about Ms. Rose being with child (and then there was the tweet...

What an incredible night! On Thursday, I co-hosted my very first Vma pre-show on the red carpet and words can't really express what an amazing experience it was.
After rehearsing for the show for a few hours this morning, it finally really sunk in that it was really all happening when I put on my dress and walked up to take my position.
The preshow kicked off and my first guest who was none other than Vma performer Pink and her husband Carey Hart (The two of them are adorable together and were sneaking kisses and hugging before we went live.) Pink looked stunning in her rocker chic gown and it was the perfect way to kick off the night.
Yet, it was just getting started. I also got the chance to talk to the super stylish Rita Ora who showed off what was in her clutch ... a blow torch,...

Corey Clark isn't suing American Idol for kicking him off the show in 2003, but he's taking MTV to court for their coverage of it. Clark was disqualified from season two of Idol after officials learned he'd faced three misdemeanor charges in his past—Clark was later acquitted of two of the charges. MTV News and former correspondent and "American Idol Expert" Jim Cantiello were among the media outlets covering Clark's exit from the show. E! News has obtained a lawsuit filed by Clark on July 5 in which he says MTV practiced "yellow journalism" and published "a continuous, one-sided stream of defamatory material" about him. He's now asking to be awarded a...

Former "American Idol" contestant Corey Clark -- who is more famous for being kicked off the show than actually being on it -- is suing MTV for defamation after he claims one of their reporters repeatedly badmouthed him ... and he wants a whopping $40 Million for his troubles.Hard to believe, but it's been over nine years since Clark was booted from "Idol" after making the top 10 ... because producers claimed he failed to disclose a recent arrest.

Fun. call tonight's Movie Awards performance 'a real good extension' of their mega-successful 2012.

When Fun. are joined by Janelle Monáe on the stage at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards tonight to perform their inescapable hit song "We Are Young," fans will be treated to a set that has lots of red.
While no one really knows what that means until show day, the look seems reminiscent of another inescapable pop-culture phenomenon "Fifty Shades of Grey." So when MTV News caught up with the guys at rehearsals for tonight's show, we wanted to know if the erotic book trilogy had any influence over the look of the performance.
"Let's just say 'yes,' " lead singer Nate Ruess laughed, even though the books clearly had nothing to do with their performance.

Universal City, California — The Black Keys brought Johnny Depp's inner rock star front and center on the stage at Sunday's (June 3) MTV Movie Awards, trading licks with the guitar-wielding (and increasingly tattooed) actor through a steady, polished and rollicking performance of "Gold on the Ceiling."
Depp called the band "up-and-coming legends" as he accepted the Generation Award before joining the band again for "Lonely Boy."
The Black Keys joked that their collaboration with Johnny Depp was forced on them by MTV, but the Generation Award honoree had already impressed the duo with his guitar-slinging skills during rehearsals for their surprise jam session at the Gibson Amphitheatre.

Universal City, California — "The Dark Knight Rises" is still over a month away from hitting theaters, but you'll get a brand-new look at the hotly awaited superhero flick this Sunday during the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. We're presenting exclusive footage from the film during the show, though the specifics remain under wraps — exactly as the mysterious Batman would want it.
"I was put in a room, the door was locked, I was handcuffed, I had a bag over my head, the bag was revealed, they pressed play on the DVD, and I'm sworn to secrecy — but I'm telling you, it's good," Movie Awards director Hamish Hamilton told MTV News when we asked him about the "Dark Knight" footage. As we said: mysterious — but presumably awesome.

Universal City, California — The Black Keys will put "Gold on the Ceiling" when they take the stage at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards tonight. So what should fans of the Ohio rockers expect when they storm the show?
"Well, without spoiling it," Dan Auerbach teased MTV News during rehearsals at the Gibson Amphitheatre in L.A. But, unfortunately for fans, MTV News had to censor his answer so we wouldn't ruin the big surprise.
In addition to performing, the guys will also get to chill out with some of the biggest stars on the planet, a concept Patrick Carney said really puts him at ease. "We feel really comfortable in these environments," he joked. "You might not know this,...

Universal City, California — Russell Brand is like John Locke: Nobody tells him what he can and can't do.
When the British actor and comedian steps onto the Gibson Amphitheatre's stage Sunday night as host of the MTV Movie Awards, he'll be able to do literally whatever he wants — he just might get yelled at about it later.
Speaking with MTV News' Josh Horowitz ahead of his Movie Awards appearance, Brand was asked if there are any restrictions on what he can or cannot do, what he can or cannot say, come the big evening. According to the man himself, the answer is a resounding "no," but that doesn't mean there isn't the threat of consequences looming over his head.

Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey and the rest of the cast are going to be sitting front and center in the audience, so it would be a prime location for them to get up and start grinding among the likes of Kristen Stewart and Emma Watson.
Fortunately, Movie Awards executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic has a backup plan in case the guys do decide to get their groove on during the show, which airs live tomorrow night at 9 p.m. Et. It just might...

MTV News spots a red velvet wall on the set that reminds us of the erotic trilogy — a sign of things to come on Sunday?
By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Jim Cantiello
"Fifty Shades of Grey"

Universal City, California — Something strange is happening on the MTV Movie Awards set. While scoping out what was supposed to be a rehearsal for Fun., we saw some workers rolling in ... giant red plush walls?
It looks a bit suspicious, if you ask us. Maybe it's just because we have "Fifty Shades of Grey" on the mind, but our first thought when we saw the set piece was that it was a wall from a giant velvet sex room. And considering the Movie Awards' track record of crazy epic stunts, we wouldn't put it past anyone here.
Of course, it could just be part of a normal set.

Vanilla Ice

There's a lot happening within the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" universe that's rubbed fans the wrong way. Chief among their grievances is a change to the Turtles' origin: These heroes in a half-shell are no longer simply the mutated product of an ooze spill on some unwitting turtles — they're now creatures from a different planet.
But there's at least one carryover from the original film trilogy that should put a smile on fans' faces: Vanilla Ice is back, back, baby ... maybe.
MTV News caught up with the rapper during his Sneak Peek Week appearance for "That's My Boy" ahead of Sunday night's MTV Movie Awards, and he teased that he may very well be involved with the Michael Bay-produced "Ninja Turtles" reboot.

There are plenty of reasons to tune in to the MTV Movie Awards this Sunday, but the fun starts way before cameras at the awards show begin rolling.

And you thought Justin Bieber tricking Taylor Swift was funny.
All during this episode, we'll be cutting over to the MTV Movie Awards red carpet where "The Vampire Diaries" star Kat Graham will be acting as Special Style Correspondent. She'll be helping MTV News' Josh Horowitz, Jim Cantiello and Sway Calloway interview celebs like Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Leighton Meester, Chris Colfer and Chloë Grace Moretz,...

Even if she hadn't been saddled with what is possibly the worst "American Idol" finalist song in the show's history, the chances of Jessica Sanchez beating Phillip Phillips seemed slim.
The guitar-strumming, foot-swiveling, five-o'clock-shadow-having Dave Matthews doppelgänger was many critics' early pick to continue the recent trend of cute white boys who strum guitars winning the crown. 'He's really good and probably the best singer of the last three or four seasons,' one 'Idol' expert tells MTV News.

Joshua Ledet performs on "American Idol"
Photo: Fox
Just about every season of "American Idol" seems to have at least one: a singer whose talent is so impressive and complete that their weekly performances come off as effortless. Whether it's winners like Ruben Studdard, Fantasia or Carrie Underwood, or runners-up like Adam Lambert, Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson or Chris Daughtry, these finalists make it seem easy.
If you believe Randy, Jennifer and Steven, we are seeing one of those rare moments right now in the form of Joshua Ledet. The old-soul singer has been crushing it without fail just about every week on the show, with just a few missteps along the way.
"I've been doing this 11 years, and you're one of the best singers ever on this show.

'American Idol' judges aren't looking to hop on the 'Moves Like Jagger' bandwagon with their own collabo, Lopez tells MTV News.

The usual rule in Hollywood is that if something works once, it's probably worth doing it again, and again, and again, and then maybe once more just to make sure the concept hasn't run out of legs.
But even though "The Voice" mentors Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera smashed digital sales records with their collaboration "Moves Like Jagger," don't expect "American Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez to follow in their fancy footsteps.
"None of us are kind of followers in that way," Lopez told MTV News when asked if she and Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler might consider putting their very different pipes together to see if they could capture their own lightning in a bottle.

Mike "The Situation" on Thursday's episode of "Jersey Shore"
It's episode five! Of season five! And here are my top five "Jersey Shore" moments!
5. New Jersey Ink
Vinny's back in the house, and the Situation seems to be inspired by his new tattoo.
As Sitch confusingly explains — for what seems like an eternity — how he plans to get "loyalty" and "betrayal" tats on his forearms, Ronnie stares at the camera blankly. Ron, you took the words right out of my mouth.
4. The Situation's Situation
The Situation got a little ... paranoid ... and decided to get to the bottom of all the drama in the house. His method? Ranting at the girls while wearing no pants.
"Why is everybody always focusing on Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike?" he yells.
I don't know, maybe because you're running around screaming with your di-- hanging out?...

On Thursday (February 2) night, Madonna will world-premiere a teaser for her highly anticipated new video on "American Idol." The preview of "Give Me All Your Luvin' " comes in advance of the clip's official Friday-morning debut.
But if you think that the "Idol" judges are getting any special treatment and are seeing it first, think again.
"I have not seen it yet," Jennifer Lopez told MTV News earlier this week. "I'll see it with all you guys on Thursday." When asked whether she'd even heard any of the finished track, she further dished that she hasn't heard a thing — and that includes a leaked version of the song that hit the Internet last fall.
"I hate when the demos leak," J. Lo added.

Mike "The Situation" on Thursday's Episode of "Jersey Shore"
Photo: MTV
The Situation's back and he got a Hugh Hefner-themed surprise party, what with the strippers and the wheelchairs. Here now, my five favorite moments from this week's "Jersey Shore."
5. Hungover Situation
You can't get any more Dtf than a stripper, right? Wrong. Just ask the Situation, who brought home one of his party favors.
"I don't even remember her name. It might as well be A-nita because all night she was saying 'I need a cigarette. I need French toast.' Well I need you to get the hell out of my house!"
I think Hungover Situation is my favorite Situation. On the other hand, dude, she's a stripper who never actually took her clothes off. That's like being mad...

Pauly D on Thursday's episode of "Jersey Shore"
With Vinny gone, the "Jersey Shore" cast spiraled out of control! Deena danced so hard that her hair extensions needed to be surgically removed, Snooki was half a body shot away from the morgue, and the Situation "left the show" because nobody cared that it was birthday. Here are my five favorite moments from this week's "Jersey Shore":
5. A Tribute to the Fallen
This week's episode picked up where last week's left off. Vinny went home to Staten Island to calm down after his anxiety flare-ups. You know, re-charge his batteries and get away from reality-tv cameras for a while. Wait, what? MTV sent a camera crew home with him? Get better, Vinny!
Back in Seaside, Vinny's housemates paid tribute to their fallen comrade in unique ways.

President Barack Obama at the Apollo Theater on Thursday
Photo: Shahar Azran/WireImage
This week, "American Idol" kicked off its 11th season, and it appears even President Obama is getting into the spirit. On Thursday night at a fundraiser at the Apollo Theater, the commander in chief surprised a star-studded Harlem, New York, crowd by busting out a few measures of "AI" staple Al Green's "Let's Stay Together."
Obama's smooth singing voice impressed many — including the Rev. Al Green himself, who told TMZ that Obama "nailed it" — but does the leader of the free world have what it takes to make it on America's #1 singing competition?
"American Idol" associate music director and vocal coach Michael Orland certainly thinks so!

Phillip Phillips on American Idol's season premiere
Photo: Fox
Last night's 14-hour "American Idol" premiere presented the usual suspects of hopefuls. To paraphrase judge (and hideous eyewear collector) Randy Jackson at the end of the Savannah, Georgia, trip, "We came, we saw, we mocked immigrants' accents, we patronized and lusted after hot girls, we competently read off of producers' notes, we conquered."
Then, just as the expected parade of planted craycrays and daughters of athletes wrapped up, "Idol" introduced its eventual season 11 winner, Phillip Phillips.
First let's talk his name. It's so ridiculous, it's awesome. You'll never forget it. Not to get all numerologist on you, but for season 11, a digit comprised of "one" repeated twice, a name like Phillip Phillips is destined to end up on top. At least he is in a pretentious overwritten novel.

We already looked back at standouts from "Idol" seasons one through five, and now we're walking down memory lane to see what the alumni from seasons six through 10 have going on:
Season Six
The One You Know: Winner Jordin Sparks is making her big-screen debut this August with TriStar's remake of the '76 Supremes-inspired movie "Sparkle," co-starring the one and only Whitney Houston. Music-wise, Sparks showed off a new adult image in 2011 with "I Am Woman" and provided background vocals for Demi Lovato's anthem "Skyspcraper." Her third album is still Tba,...

"American Idol" kicks off its 11th season Wednesday night with its first of eight audition episodes. But before we're inundated with a new batch of contestants (many of whom we'll forget about by June), let's play catch-up with some noteworthy alums.
Sure, our Kellys and Carries have remained household names throughout the years, but others — like Katharine McPhee and Leah Labelle — are poised to have their biggest post-"Idol" years yet.
Let's check in with standouts from seasons one through five:
Season One
The One You Know: Kelly Clarkson's fifth studio album, Stronger, is selling just fine, even if recent "Ron Paul sales bump" rumors were proven to be a bunch of hooey. The original Idol just kicked off her latest tour last week.

The cast of "Glee" on Tuesday's episode
Photo: Fox
Tuesday night's "Glee" was all about Will Schuester's proposal to longtime germaphobe girlfriend Emma, and since he apparently lacks any adult friends, he enlisted his glee-club "family" to help out. They pitched potential songs, ranging from a kick-ass "Moves Like Jagger/ Jumpin' Jack Flash" mash-up to a sensitive Rachel Berry cover of David Guetta and Usher's "Without You." But it was the girls' "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" that awakened Mercedes' old feelings for Trouty Mouth.
Meanwhile, Becky went after the man she loves — fellow handi-capable student Artie — and viewers sat and watched their brief relationship sour. Bummer. Bigger bummer? Finn's mom revealed the real way his soldier dad died. Biggest bummer? No Klaine.
It was an intense episode filled with belly laughs,...

Thursday night's "Jersey Shore" brought back season-one hookups and introduced a new kleptomaniac, while Pauly's "Gtl" game is all out of whack thanks to a gnarly tanning-bed sunburn. Early TV ratings show Tuesday night's "Dance Moms" season-two premiere scored 2.5 million viewers — a series high — so it's no wonder that the star of the show, dance instructor Abby Lee Miller, has a difficult time going incognito in public.
"The kids notice me first," Miller told MTV News about her newfound fame. " 'Mom! That's the lady from "Dance Moms!" ' "
However, Abby said some fans are more eager to give her a piece of their mind than request an autograph. "Just three days ago, I was having a rare dinner with a friend, and this lady walked right up to our table and started yelling at me because I'm mean to ['Dance Moms' co-star] Holly. 'Holly is not some ghetto girl! Holly is very well-educated!'And she went on...
