A lot of sci-fi films helped shape the genre into what it is today, but perhaps none of them are as underrated as the 1982 film "Tron." The original entry into a franchise that would come to span several decades was studded with soon-to-be stars like the incomparable Jeff Bridges, who would go on to earn an Academy Award.
Bridges stars in the action-adventure as Kevin Flynn, a video game developer who gets trapped inside his own software and has to interact with the programs inside his computer's main frame to escape. Digital technology was still emerging in the 1980s, and computers were relegated to those with a proclivity for science. All that is to say, the public wasn't ready for a movie filled with symbolic computer metaphors, and the film was not a success.
However, as computers began to rise in popularity, so too did "Tron." Early web users looked...

This Babylon 5 article contains spoilers.
Like Billy Pilgrim before him, John Sheridan has become unstuck in time. Again!
On May 13, 1996, Babylon 5 aired the first part of a two-parter epic called “War Without End.” In it, the crew of the White Star are tasked with stealing the space station Babylon 4 and sending it back in time 1,000 years to defeat the Shadows in a previous war, all so the Shadows are weaker in the present. But, if they fail, another, much darker parallel universe will unfold. And while we’ve only seen glimpses of that universe before, in the new Babylon 5 animated movie, The Road Home, this specific alternate timeline is explored in a way that calls back not just to “War Without End,” but to the season 1 banger, “Babylon Squared,” too.

It may have taken a long time to get here, but Babylon 5 is finally making the leap to Blu-ray. Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment announced today that all five seasons of the iconic sci-fi series will be released on Blu-ray on December 5th.
Babylon 5 has previously only been available on DVD and the image quality wasn’t always the best, so fans have been waiting for this moment for quite some time. You can check out the official box art for Babylon 5: The Complete Series below, which strangely doesn’t feature the titular space station.
All five seasons of Babylon 5 were scanned and remastered from the original camera negative in 4K, with a colour correction and the cleaning of dirt and scratches as well. The many CGI shots of the series have been digitally upscaled to HD, and short of a complete remaster, that’s probably...

Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski has caught up with Bruce Boxleitner, who played the station’s Captain John Sheridan, for his mysterious new project.

“It’s been too long,” added Boxleitner.
Straczynski also tweeted out a sharp-looking upgrade on the classic logo, saying:
“It can’t be for the reimagining ‘cause that’s on hold pending [Writers Guild of America] issues, so what could it possibly be for? Hmm. Maybe we’ll find out more one week from today.“Spread the word: something wonderful is coming.”
What's this? Why, it's a spiffy...

Reboots are the name of the game these days, but one of the more unexpected ones was a "Babylon 5" reboot, set to air on the CW, produced by Warner Bros. Television and helmed by original series' creator J. Michael Straczynski ("Jms").
"Babylon 5" is the name of the series' setting, a space station where the intergalactic powers of the 22nd century can conduct diplomatic business on neutral ground. The protagonist is the station's commander, John Sheridan (Bruce Boxleitner), but the series is an ensemble, following characters from all over the galaxy, each with depth and history. Over the course of the series, Babylon 5 becomes the centerpiece of a conflict millennia in the making.
Per the initial announcement, the "ground-up" reboot will retell the story of Sheridan and Babylon 5 for a new audience — assuming it sees the light of day. Warner Bros' business strategy lately has been "no one is safe.

It was announced nearly one year ago that J. Micahel Straczynski was developing a reboot of his iconic sci-fi series Babylon 5 for The CW. We haven’t heard all that much about the project since then, but with Nexstar recently taking a 75 percent stake in the company, the fate of several of their project remains up in the air.
J. Michael Straczynski took to Twitter to call upon Babylon 5 fans to show their support for the reboot and let those in charge know they want it to happen.
The fate of the #Babylon5 pilot may be decided end of this month. Though much of @TheCW was bought by @NXSTMediaGroup the decision also rests heavily with @WarnerbrosTV. What do ransomware, cryogenics, flip phones, family photos, and twelve-hour ribs have in common? Each played a role in NCIS Season 14 Episode 20.
It all started when a Navy admiral's personal laptop was compromised by the aforementioned ransomware. And yes, ransomware is unfortunately very real.
A relative of mine who works in information technology pointed out, however, that networks do not work that way; infecting one computer on a network will not magically infect all the computers on the network.
Otherwise, then all computers ever connected to the Internet would be constantly infected with malware all the time. (A lot of malware requires, for example, clinking on a link or opening a document.)
To be fair, the lack of understanding about how technology works isn't anything new for TV series like this.
We still laugh over an episode of CSI: New York in which an "access point" somehow broke through all...

There are plenty of interesting directions a return to the Babylon 5 universe could take. Here are a few suggestions...
I read somewhere that J.M. Straczynski writes every day. That’s not surprising given his extensive body of work for television, motion pictures, novels and comics. He is best known for Babylon 5, of course. I remember what a lot of people used to say about Babylon 5, “How much can happen on a space station?” Well, a lot actually! And after five seasons of the original series, a bunch of made-for-tv movies and a couple of spin-offs, there are still plenty of stories left to tell.
That is why I was excited recently to read that Joe (apparently, he thinks you’re cool if you just call him Joe) was going back to work on Babylon 5. My excitement soon turned to dread when I found out that...

When Olivia Wilde was added to the cast of TR2N the other week we pondered aloud at the conspicuous absence of Bruce 'Get the hell out of our galaxy!' Boxleitner from the confirmed cast list. Well, we're now happy to report that all is right with the world once more and Tron himself is officially back on board.Boxleitner is perhaps best known in geek circles for his role as John Sheridan in J Michael Straczynski's epic TV series, Babylon 5, but we'll always have a soft spot for his part as the neon title character in Stephen Lisberger's 1982 classic. So, break out your light cycles and your... glowing frisbee things because the film with the least well thought out and most unpronounceable title is now well on its way.

More casting news for the upcoming Tron sequel, courtesy of the folks over at Coming Soon. The site is reporting that Bruce Boxleitner, who played Alan Bradley and the title character in the first flick, is currently filming a role for Tron 2.0 The 1982 original followed a computer programmer Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) as he is thrust into a computer and forced to fight in games he helped create. He joins forces with Tron (Boxleitner) to battle the Master Control Program that holds them captive. Bridges will also be back for the sequel, which is being shot in 3-D. Joseph Kosinski is directing the film and it also stars Olivia Wilde and Beau Garrett. Plot details are still under wraps but producers have said it will act as a “next chapter”.
