Image
Based on Morgan Cooper's short fan film, Bel-Air is a contemporary take on the classic 90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. This dramatic series follows the story of star high school basketball player Will Smith (Jabari Banks) after his wealthy uncle, Philip "Phil" Banks (Adrian Holmes) uses his legal connections to bail him out of jail following a street fight that forced Will to pull a gun to defend his friend from a brutal beating. To protect him from the vengeful retribution of a West Philadelphia gangster convinced that Will snitched to the police in exchange for his freedom, Will's mom, Viola "Vy" (April Parker Jones), sends him to live with her sister Vivian "Viv" (Cassandra Freeman) and Uncle Phil in the couple's opulent mansion in Bel-Air. “The Enterprise Is 20 Years Old”: Why Star Trek 3 Was Wrong About The Age Of Kirk's Starship
Image
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock makes an incorrect statement about how old Admiral James T. Kirk's (William Shatner) USS Enterprise was. Star Trek III picked up directly after the events of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, which culminated in the death of Captain Spock (Leonard Nimoy). Star Trek III would feature the death of another beloved and iconic Star Trek: The Original Series 'character': the Starship Enterprise itself.

At the beginning of the underrated Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, the USS Enterprise returned to Spacedock. Admiral Kirk assumed his starship would undergo repairs and be placed back on active duty. However, Fleet Admiral Morrow (Robert Hooks), the Commander of Starfleet, informed Kirk the Enterprise was at the end of its run and would be decommissioned. Morrow's rationale: "Jim, the Enterprise is 20 years old. We feel her day is over." Morrow's reasoning may have been sound,...

Why Only 3 Star Trek Number Ones Became Enterprise Captain
Image
Being First Officer of the USS Enterprise in Star Trek isn't always a fast track to the Captain's chair. The Starship Enterprise is the flagship of the United Federation of Planets, and it's one of the most coveted posts for ambitious Starfleet Officers. Captains of the Enterprise enjoy becoming part of the starship's storied legacy, and their crews often become cemented as legendary Starfleet heroes. Yet many Number Ones don't automatically get to succeed their Captains and command the Enterprise.

The various incarnations of the USS Enterprise, and its 22nd century predecessor, the Nx-01 Enterprise, are the most famous starships in Star Trek. In turn, Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) and Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) are among the greatest icons in Star Trek. But they couldn't have become Starfleet legends without the help of their crews, and, in particular, the best First Officers in Starfleet.

The role of...

Bel-Air Season 4 Updates & Renewal (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Bel-Air has grown to be one of the most popular shows on Peacock. It is a reboot of the 1990s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which in turn is a fictional retelling of actor Will Smith’s teenage years.

The comedy series follows Will’s journey from West Philadelphia to the luxurious neighborhood of Bel-Air. The series finished airing its third season in September 2024, and ever since, fans have been awaiting updates on a potential fourth season. So, is Bel-Air Season 4 happening? Let’s find out.

Will there be Bel-Air Season 4?

Bel-Air is returning for a fourth season. Peacock officially announced the renewal on December 3rd, 2024; however, the streamer also revealed that season 4 would be the last for the series. ‘Bel-Air’ Will Return for a Fourth & Final Season on Peacock
Image
Fans of Peacock's Bel-Air have a reason to celebrate and more today. The series, which offered a unique dramatic redo of the popular sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, will be back for a fourth season, but it comes with the announcement that it will be its last...and it will have a lower than usual episode count. So, alongside the celebrations also comes some bad news, sadly.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Peacock Premium has renewed Bel-Air for a fourth and final season that will consist of eight episodes, down from the typical ten episodes of previous seasons. The news of the renewal decision arrives three months after the Season 3 finale was released on the streaming service on Sept. 5. An exact reason for the decision to end the show with Season 4 wasn't given, but some reports say that budgetary reasons could be a factor, which is why the renewal news came later than usual.

Peacock’s Bel-Air is coming to an end with Season 4
Image
Peacock’s Bel-Air is doing “The Carlton” again after renewing the fan-favorite drama for a fourth and final season. Bel-Air is a contemporary reimagining of the beloved ’90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, starring a young Will Smith as a Philadelphia import learning to navigate the lap of luxury in Los Angeles, California. According to sources, Bel-Air Season 4 has eight episodes to end the series.

The evolution of Bel-Air is remarkable. The series comes from Morgan Cooper’s four-minute viral short, which presents a more grounded and grittier take on the characters and premise of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Bel-Air helped put Peacock’s name in the spotlight as one of the streamer’s most successful original series.

Set in the modern-day, Bel-Air is a dramatic reimagining of the Fresh Prince concept. The serialized, one-hour presentation follows “Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to...

Image
Peacock announced today that the fan-favorite drama series Bel-Air has been renewed for a fourth and final season. The 10-episode third season launched on the streaming service on August 15, 2024.

Set in modern-day Los Angeles, Bel-Air reimagines the iconic culture-defining ’90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air through a new, dramatic take on Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. As these two worlds collide, Will reckons with the power of second chances while navigating the conflicts, emotions, and biases of a world far different from the only one he’s ever known.

Bel-Air is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group and Westbrook Studios. Carla Banks Waddles serves as showrunner, writer and executive producer.

Bel-Air's Future on Peacock Gets Both Good and Bad News
Image
Now, this is a story all about how the future of Bel-Air got flipped, turned upside-down. The series, which served as a more dramatic reimagining of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, is not going to have as long of a run as the show it's based on, which lasted six seasons.

Per Deadline, it has been revealed that Bel-Air has been renewed for Season 4. The update on the show's future comes three months after the third season concluded its run on Peacock, and as there were concerns about a cancelation, it should come as good news for fans to know the series will continue. However, the reveal comes with some bad news, as it's also being reported that Season 4 will serve as the final season of the show. Additionally, Season 4 will reportedly have a smaller episode count, expected to consist of eight episodes, two lower than the 10 featured in the three prior seasons.

‘Bel-Air’ Renewed for Fourth and Final Season at Peacock
Image
“Bel-Air” has been renewed for Season 4 at Peacock, which will also be the show’s final season.

The news comes roughly three months after the finale of Season 3 of the series, which serves as a dramatic reimagining of the beloved sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” It was originally picked up at Peacock in 2020 with a two season commitment.

The cast for the series includes Jabari Banks, Adrian Holmes, Cassandra Freeman, Olly Sholotan, Coco Jones, Akira Akbar, Jimmy Akingbola, Jordan L. Jones, Simone Joy Jones.

Like the sitcom version, “Bel-Air” follows a teenager named Will (Jabari Banks), who moves from West Philadelphia to live with his auntie and uncle in the titular posh Los Angeles neighborhood. Bel Air Renewed For Season 4, Will Be Fresh Prince Reboot's Last
Image
Bel-Air has been renewed for a fourth and final season at Peacock, although there will be one notable change. Back when the reboot debuted, in February 2022, the reimagined and more dramatic take on Will Smith's Fresh Prince of Bel-Air helped establish Peacock as a streaming service and was its most-viewed series at one point. But after having several showrunners at the helm, not to mention numerous twists and cliffhangers, another iteration of Fresh Prince is eying the exits.

Deadline confirms that Bel-Air has been renewed for season 4, which will be the last. The news, which comes almost three months after the season 3 finale, is accompanied by a significant shift. Sources note that season 4 will consist of eight episodes, rather than the usual 10. It's reported that the delay in the renewal occurred after conversations regarding the reboot's budget.

‘Bel-Air’ to End With Season 4 on Peacock

Peacock will return to Bel-Air for one last time.

The NBCUniversal-owned streamer has renewed Bel-Air — a dramatic take on Will Smith’s 1990s NBC comedy The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air — for a fourth and final season. The renewal comes about three months after season three concluded.

The series, which counts Smith among its executive producers, grew out of a YouTube video by Morgan Cooper that reimagined the sitcom as a gritty drama. Peacock ran with the idea and gave the project a two-season order in September 2020; Bel-Air premiered in February 2022.

Season three followed Will (Jabari Banks) and Carlton (Olly Sholotan) becoming closer as Carlton looked to put his life of addiction behind him and rebuild his reputation — but the newfound partnership also revealed fundamental differences in their experiences and worldviews.

“I think the most rewarding thing has been watching people be on the journey with us and start...

‘Bel-Air’ Renewed For Fourth & Final Season By Peacock
Image
Exclusive: Bel-Air, which helped put Peacock on the original series map, will be coming to an end. The modern-day drama reimagining of the popular ‘90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has been picked up for a fourth season, which will be its last. According to sources, the final season will consist of eight episodes, fewer than the 10 episodes in each of the first three seasons.

The renewal comes three months after Bel-Air, produced by Universal Television and Westbrook Studios, released its Season 3 finale on Sept. 5. According to sources, it was preceded by behind-the-scenes budget conversations, which could explain the delay. The most recent Season 3 renewal came ahead of the series’ Season 2 finale.

Peacock stepped up in a major way to land Bel-Air in a very competitive situation when the project was taken out in 2020, handing the drama, based on Morgan Cooper’s viral four-minute spec trailer, a two-season pickup.

5 Of Star Treks Best Admirals Were Enterprise Captains
Image
Five Captains of the USS Enterprise became Admirals in Star Trek. As the flagship of the United Federation of Planets, the Starship Enterprise is perhaps the most coveted assignment for a Starfleet Captain. To command the Enterprise means being part of a storied legacy that began in the 22nd century of Star Trek: Enterprise and continues into the 32nd century of Star Trek: Discovery. Unsurprisingly, distinguished and exemplary performance in the Enterprise's center seat can lead to career advancement to the rank of Starfleet Admiral.

Becoming an Admiral isn't necessarily the goal of the Captains of the USS Enterprise. Giving up the excitement of exploring strange new worlds and the chance to make history to become a deskbound decision-maker at Starfleet headquarters doesn't always sit well with Enterprise Captains-turned-Admirals. While certain Captains proved amendable to becoming a flag officer, other Enterprise head honchos became restless and yearned to get back to the Captain's chair.

Retired Vampire Diaries Star Might Return to Acting for Potential Revival of Another Series
Image
After bringing the vampire Damon Salvatore to life in the hit TV show The Vampire Diaries, actor Ian Somerhalder went on to star in one season of the Netflix vampire series V Wars. The short-lived series marked his final acting role, as Somerhalder retired after its cancelation to focus on other endeavors.

While at the Environmental Media Association Awards Gala in October, Somerhalder spoke with People about the life he lives now with wife Nikki Reed, who also appeared in V Wars. Somerhalder reaffirmed that he has no plans at this time to revisit his acting career, feeling like it's more than likely "in the rearview mirror" of his life. However, the former actor also teased that he'd gotten the rights back for V Wars, hinting that there could be a potential continuation that he'd be a part of. The biggest problem, as Somerhalder also explained, is that his life...

The Most Popular Will Smith Bel-Air Fancast Thankfully Didnt Happen And The Fresh Prince Reboot Was Much Better For It
Image
Since The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air featured Will Smith in his breakout role, the actor will forever be synonymous with the classic sitcom. Even after the show was remade into the Peacock drama series Bel-Air, everyone could still feel Smith's shadow hanging over the franchise, especially since the main protagonist shares the actor's name. Even after three successful seasons, the question of whether or not Smith will appear in the series continues to linger ahead of a potential Bel-Air season 4.

Though he is an executive producer of Peacock's Bel-Air, Will Smith has not made an appearance. This is surprising considering he said to Entertainment Weekly that he wanted to portray Philip "Uncle Phil" Banks should Fresh Prince ever be remade. In the end, Adrian Holmes was cast as Phil, which was ultimately the better decision for the show, compared to the prospect of Smith taking on the role.

Captain Pike Turns A Star Trek Suicide Maneuver Into Strange New Worlds Rescue
Image
In Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3, Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) attempts a USS Enterprise maneuver that usually means suicide. Strange New Worlds season 2 ended with a cliffhanger as the Enterprise faced off against multiple Gorn ships, including a destroyer. As Captain Pike contemplates his next move, Admiral Robert April (Adrian Holmes) orders the Enterprise to withdraw, even if that means leaving several crew members trapped on the Gorn ship. Pike stops, unwilling to leave his people behind, but unsure how to proceed, just before the words "to be continued" appear on the screen.

With the life of Captain Marie Batel (Melanie Scrofano) hanging in the balance, Captain Pike faces his very own version of the Kobayashi Maru, but he's not facing it alone. At New York Comic-Con 2024, Paramount+ debuted a new clip from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 that reveals how Pike and his Starship Enterprise crew...

Did Star Trek: Strange New Worlds confirm that The Animated Series isn't canon?
Image
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has done a lot right for the world of Star Trek. They've brought back the stellar, old-school style storytelling that made us all fans of the franchise, while simultaneously finishing the story of Captain Christopher Pike, which was started in the mid-1960s when the series first shot its pilot. Not only that, but it's added layers to Nurse Chapel, Doctor M'Banga, as well as the Vulcans, Gorn, and Pike's number one, Una Chin-Riley.

What it may have done as well, is change canon forever. We know that the involvement of the Gorn make for some murky situations now in the Original Series, but one of the things the franchise may have done is unilaterally erase Star Trek: The Animated Series from canon.

The Animated Series, which came out right after the original series, is one of the few shows that gets no real love from the Trek fandom.

‘Bel-Air’ Star on His Version of Carlton Finally Growing on Viewers
Image
Olly Sholotan takes his opportunity to portray Carlton Banks on Peacock’s Bel-Air seriously.

“This is the only dream that I’ve had since I was a kid,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I’ve always wanted to create art for a living, so being able to do this is the biggest blessing of a lifetime.”

Unlike the lighthearted cornball of the Banks family that Carlton was in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, the reboot reimagines the middle child with deeper issues than simply trying to be cool. Sholotan’s Carlton wrestles with anxiety, developing a drug habit as a way to manage his mental health issues.

And seeing the character in this new light took viewers some getting used to over the first two seasons, with showrunner Carla Banks Waddles and the writers on the series taking note of feedback from viewers.

The article contains Spoilers for Bel-Air season 3, episode 10, "Save the Best for Last"Bel-Air season 4 gets an uncertain response from showrunner and executive producer Carla Banks Waddles. As previewed by the reviews of Bel-Air season 3, Peacock's reimagining of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air creates even more drama around the young Will Smith (Jabari Banks), which carries all the way over to a finale that's filled with cliffhangers and unanswered questions.

In an interview with TVLine, following the Bel-Air season 3 finale on September 5, Waddles struck an optimistic tone about the show's future but revealed that she was uncertain whether Peacock would deliver a renewal. Still, even as she stressed that Bel-Air could go either way, she highlighted the positive reaction to season 3 overall. Read the quote below:

Speaking with Collider, Banks was asked which original The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor he'd like to see feature in Bel-Air at some point. According to Banks, he wants to see star Alfonso Ribeiro join the series. "Were going down the list. I think weve gotta hit Alfonso [Ribeiro] next. Come on, Season 4, lets do it," he said.

‘Bel-Air’ Star Adrian Holmes Says Uncle Phil Has a ‘Very Important Moral Decision to Make’ in Season 2
Image
“Bel-Air” star Adrian Holmes teased some of what fans can expect from his character Phillip “Uncle Phil” Banks in Season 2, saying that between dodging Erica’s advances and taking a chance on a risky new client, Uncle Phil’s moral compass is put to the test.

“He has a very important moral decision to make. There’s a lot of arcs and sparks this season. It’s fizzling in a beautiful way. I love it,” Holmes told TheWrap.

Holmes is right, Uncle Phil has got his work cut for him, especially after that spicy last season cliffhanger where Erica (Diandra Lyle), Uncle Phil’s future business partner, gave him a smooch. Viewers eventually learned that the two have history, which Vivian “Aunt Viv” Banks (Cassandra Freeman) is aware of. But as far as that lock of the lips, Uncle Phil keeps that detail to himself. Holmes said Uncle Phil isn’t clueless,...

‘Bel-Air’ Boss on Pulling Off That Joseph Marcell Cameo and Ideas for Will Smith
Image
[This story contains spoilers from Bel-Air season three, episode six, “Baggage.”]

School’s out for summer in season three of Bel-Air when it finds its lead characters, Will Smith (Jabari Banks) and Carlton Banks (Olly Sholotan), begrudgingly working at a country club at Uncle Phil’s (Adrian Holmes) urging, rather than wreaking havoc in the classroom.

“We were all excited for summer in Bel-Air because we’ve never done that before,” showrunner Carla Banks Waddles tells The Hollywood Reporter. “We’ve always been in the school hallways and in school uniforms. So just knowing that we were going to be outside meant new sets … and really focusing on what are the iconic summer things for kids in L.A. and being able to talk about all of that: Juneteenth, fireworks, beaches, bikinis, hot tubs, swimming pools.”

While playing with new environments in its latest season, which debuted on Peacock on Aug. 15, the Fresh Prince of...

How ‘Bel-Air’ Brought Iconic Black Entrepreneurs in for Season 3: ‘Byron Allen Was at the Top of the List’
Image
“Bel-Air” showrunner Carla Banks Waddles opened up about how she was able to nab heavy-hitter Black entrepreneurs to make a cameo in Season 3, Episode 2: “Pivot.” Those guest stars were Entertainment Studios founder Byron Allen, Uncle Nearest cofounder Fawn Weaver, and Mielle Organics’ CEO Monique Rodriguez and COO Melvin Rodriguez.

As the episode’s title suggest, “Bel-Air’s” two lead characters, Will (Jabari Banks) and Carlton (Olly Sholotan), set off on a new journey into entrepreneurship. On top of trying to come up with a good idea for a start-up to pitch to venture capitalist Quentin (Vic Mensa), they’ve both taken summer jobs at a local country club. In an effort to inspire them, and to provide real-life examples of what successful Black business owners look like, Uncle Phil (Adrian Holmes) called on some of friends. Ultimately, the quartet appears towards the end of the episode at a celebratory...

Bel-Air Season 3 Review: Introspective New Season Needs More Lighthearted Moments To Balance Its Drama
Image
Bel-Air season 3 brings more obstacles for the Banks family to navigate. The show crafts engaging storylines but occasionally pushes characters to act out of character. Despite minor flaws, the emotional depth and introspection of Bel-Air make it worth watching.

After its explosive season 2 finale, with Carlton's addiction coming to light and Will's future seemingly secured, Bel-Air season 3 kicks off the summer for the Banks family. Bel-Air may have been inspired by Will Smith's groundbreaking The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, but it has firmly established its own distinct identity and characters, regardless of shared names and settings. In the first three episodes, season 3 continues to deliver thought-provoking, enthusiastic, and authentic stories that provide insight into the diverse array of obstacles that people of color run into, regardless of where they come from and who they are.

Bel-Air Cast & Character Guide
Image
Bel-Air reimagines The Fresh Prince with a new cast, darker tone, and deeper character development. Familiar names, different stories: Bel-Air explores the Banks family dynamics in a grittier, more dramatic way. Jabari Banks shines as the new Will Smith in Bel-Air, adding his own flair to the West Philly-raised character.

Bel-Air is a reimagined version of The French Prince of Bel-Air, with a new ensemble cast taking on the familiar, beloved characters. There are some differences between the Bel-Air characters and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air characters, even though they may share the same name. The 2022 Peacock series is much darker and more dramatic than the 1990 sitcom. Yet, even when approached differently, they share some similarities in storylines and character traits.

Both series focus on the Banks family and their cousin Will, who moves to Bel-Air after, as the original theme song states, got in one...

Coco Jones Says Karyn Parsons Has Given Her a ‘Bel-Air’ Stamp of Approval
Image
Like Will Smith, who started his career as an emcee before transitioning into a leading man onscreen in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, music was a first love for Coco Jones before she became a Disney child star and landed the role of Hilary Banks on the Peacock reimagining of the ‘90s sitcom, Bel-Air.

The duo shared the stage at an Aug. 1 barbecue at the Universal Studios backlot in Los Angeles ahead of the drama’s season three premiere on Aug. 15. Smith rapped the lyrics to his Grammy Award-winning hit “Summertime,” while Jones sang the chorus.

“Will and I are similar in the regard of being actors and balancing our music careers with our TV shows, so I really respect him,” Jones tells The Hollywood Reporter, adding of the performance, “it was a fun opportunity to promote a great show and great art.”

‘Bel-Air’ Season 3 Review: Peacock Show Juggles Too Much Drama
Image
Anticipation was high for “Bel-Air” two years ago, the dramatic flip of the beloved classic comedy “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” Kansas City native Morgan Cooper’s re-imagining of the pop culture fixture started as a fan film he uploaded to YouTube in 2019 that generated so much buzz that Will Smith himself jumped aboard as an executive producer. And the success of the first season, not to mention glowing reviews of the show’s depiction of class tensions — and changes like fresh takes on Hillary as a culinary influencer and Carlton as a struggling, undercover addict — beget a second season and now a third.

But the latest installment takes a somewhat greater departure from the first two seasons. Instead of taking place during the school year, Season 3 takes over the summer, placing Will (Jabari Banks) and Carlton (Olly Sholotan) in a country club setting that television has typically reserved for young white kids.
