As Karma finds out she isn't the only one possibly seeking Liam, Amy comes to terms with herself.

Warning: Spoilers
You know why I like diversity on TV? Well, it is because when you see rare things like a person discovering their sexuality, you more look at it for its content than comparing it to the couple dozen other shows doing the same exact storyline. I mean think of it, outside of Glee, there aren't a huge amount of teen lesbians on TV. Much less, in my TV knowledge, there hasn't been much about the discovery of a person's homosexuality. Usually, they are like Shane or Santana. Either open about it with everyone, or comfortable around friends, but hiding it from family. As for this show, though Amy sort of outed herself, there is this complex internal conflict we see in the episode where this game she and Karma are playing is becoming too real, and seemingly she is starting to force herself to come to terms that it may not just be her closeness with Karma causing all these new feelings, but the fact she has never really explored her sexuality.

Topic 1: Protest Skwerkel! – Liam & Karma

In what was an oddly fascinating storyline, the school's liberal policies backfire when a company named Skwerkel donates $6000 to the school, and all they want in return is for the students to use their devices and to own the data. This doesn't sit well with Liam, who seemingly is one of the heads of the protest, and Karma decides to join up in order to make Liam fall in love with her.

There is an issue though with this idea. Said issue is a girl named Solei who seemingly frequents the protests and sit-ins that happen at Hester High, which according to Lauren happen frequently and damn near over anything. Now, the reason Solei is a threat is because she is attractive, passionate, and does a lot of work for Red Cross and other community projects. But, being that she does independent studies instead of going to class, I am think she maybe just here for this one episode. However, being that Karma doesn't know that, she is immensely jealous and tries to fight against her in any subtle way she can. Including when the students plan to occupy Hester and Solei brings muffins, Karma decides to put on a hunger strike. Then, to distract the kids from hunger, an open mic is done and Solei, being the type who loves putting innuendo in every other sentence, not only gets Liam hot with her passion, but by talking about being wet among other things.

Unfortunately for Karma though, she doesn't have such a gift with the tongue, but we do discover she does have quite the song writing abilities. And with that said, it is time to switch focus to Amy.

Topic 2: How to Tell the Truth, While Lying, and Be Miserable - Amy

Every time I watch Amy look at Karma and listen to her talk about Liam, I feel so bad for her. You can see it in her eyes that Liam is one topic she hates hearing about, but for some reason she can't just come out to Karma. But, then again, considering how close they are, imagine how mad Karma would feel if after all this time, and now their relationship, that Amy just now decides to say something.

Still, as Karma gushes over Liam, Amy starts to think maybe she needs a secret boyfriend too. Someone she can fantasize about to take her mind off her feelings for Karma, which she still seems very uncomfortable with. So, at Karma's suggestion, she points out an old crush named Josh, who is this eccentric protester who looks like he would be in a regular school's drama club.

Thing is though, as the protest starts getting serious, Amy realizes Josh is way into the protest, and being utterly weird, which turns her off immediately. Then enters Oliver, an A/V guy who seems to be an outsider in the school made of mostly outsiders. But, he isn't an outsider the way Lauren is, more so he is an outsider for he doesn't get who everyone is trying to be unique, but just ends up being the same. And with these words, it seems like maybe Amy was onto discovering that maybe she might be bi, and not a lesbian. However, after Karma's performance for Liam, of which she sings to both Amy and Liam, Amy decides she has had enough. The reason why being, after years of saying Karma should perform, some boy she barely knows got her to do so, and this is naturally a bit insulting. So, Amy decides to kiss Oliver and seeming regrets it the minute their lips touch. If because it now may seem like she is leading him on when, in reality, she is more so experimenting.

Luckily for her though, while she can't tell her best friend what she is going through, Shane is all ears. And, like I believe I said before, he is likely to be the one to help her come to terms, for a lack of a better phrase, with her sexuality. She even tells him how their relationship is fake and then goes off about her not knowing what she may be as the episode ends.
