7/10
A unique film with dynamic characters and strong performances

They Cloned Tyrone (2023) is a movie that my wife and I watched on Netflix last night. The storyline follows a young man who works the streets and has a pimp that owes him money. When he goes to collect the money he is shot in the parking lot. He wakes up the next day like nothing happened. Tyrone, the pimp and the pimp's #1 lady set out to discover what's going on and how Tyrone is still alive...

This movie is directed by Juel Taylor (Actor's Anonymous) and stars Jamie Foxx (Ray), John Boyega (Star Wars VII-IX), Teyonah Parris (Dear White People), Kiefer Sutherland (Lost Boys), David Alan Grier (In Living Color) and Charity Jordan (Selma).

This is a very clever and well put together film. The storyline is unique and the characters are well written and entertaining. Jamie Fox is hilarious from beginning to end and he kills this performance. This is also one of my favorite characters John Boyega has played to date. The science fiction elements are clever and creates an additional level of unpredictable twists and turns. The ending felt a bit unrealistic, and reminded me of West World in some ways, but was still entertaining and worth the two hour runtime.

Overall, this is a very unique film with dynamic characters and strong performances. I would score this a 6.5-7/10 and recommend seeing it once.
