Warning: Spoilers
SPOILERS The patient is a show about a serial killer (Domhnall Gleeson) who kidnaps his therapist (Steve Carell) to try and stop himself from killing. It's an interesting premise and it's a breath of fresh air to see episode lengths sticking to around the 30 minute mark, which really helped the pacing in the first few episodes.

The performances from the two leads are also spectacular, but unfortunately that's where the positives end for me. An interesting premise isn't enough, there also needs to actually be a point to the story. There's very little point to this story outside of the set up. Sure, the therapist realises that he was maybe not the best father and I guess that's mirrored in the serial killer's own father but that's really not enough.

A good ending can make or break a simple idea like this has, and unfortunately it broke it. The ending they went with is literally the easiest and most boring ending I could think of and both myself and my partner literally groaned and rolled our eyes when we watched it. It's unfortunate because it could have been so much better.
