Who wouldn't have guessed that theft would be the theme of friendship in this miniseries?

In many respects, gay teenagers are constantly on the verge of fear. The show demonstrates that white teenagers aren't the only ones who can make mistakes in a safe environment. While their behavior departs from the traditional teenage cheating, they are certainly not stereotypical "pretty girls". Trinkets are one of the few modern teens shows primarily showcasing characters of color.

Trinkets sympathize with its key characters. Each of their actions is justified, and when they are harsh to their parents, others, or themselves, they are finally forgiven. The show does not advocate for its adolescent viewers to begin a criminal career. Elodie uses her stolen vibrator to connect with her friends on a deeper level in Trinkets. Tabitha employs it to initiate a difficult conversation with her violent boyfriend. She decides to leave him by the conclusion of the season.

Trinkets investigate what happens when kids who aren't straight or white grab something that isn't theirs. Trinkets give a space for kids to learn from their mistakes rather than die as a result of them in a society where marginalized teens are attacked in public.
