Django Unchained (2012)
Definitely worth every dollar to go see!!!
Tarantino did an awesome job with this flick. Reminded me so much of a Clint Eastwood spaghetti western except this movie has an exceptional plot, great acting, humor, action, and all around fun. I think it really tried to show how horrible slavery really was in the years before the Civil War. I can't stress enough of what a great job that the cast did, especially Jamie Foxx, Waltz, DiCaprio, and Jackson!!! This is a MUST SEE!!! I was hesitant to go at first not sure if it would be a flop, but my sister and her husband went, they said you have to see this movie. I am glad I did.Thank you, Tarantino for a great movie!!
Disturbia (2007)
Great Flick!!! Spend the Money!!
Usually, I am weary of these kind of movies. No one wants to risk blowing money on a movie that is just hype then turns out to fall short. This movie I liked. It was had it's suspense, thrills, and even brief chills. A good movie will carry you and keep you on a roller coaster ride to a final destination...no pun intended. Disturbia does take you on the ride. There were a few lagging moments and few scenes in the climatic ending that left you wondering why a certain co-star seems to vanish from the film until the very end. I kept thinking where did _______ go? Overall, it is entertaining and truly a lot of fun. So if you are going to spend the money to see a movie this is a sure bet. If you are really don't like movies with teen main characters, go see 300 or Grindhouse. All I kept thinking is why didn't I have such a hot neighbor as Sarah Roemer when I was growing up. She is truly easy on the eyes.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
A Wonderful Chocolate With Fun Filled Center
Charlie and The Chocolate Factory is an absolute blast. You can't help but laugh your way through this one. The tale follows the novel much closer and keeps you in stitches. Johnny Depp brings Willy Wonka to life and his quick wit, and comedic performance will have audiences wanted a second viewing of the movie. I have tried to think of something I really didn't enjoy about the movie but haven't been able to think of a thing. From old to young audiences will enjoy this romp through the factory. I take nothing away from the original or Gene Wilder who have kept us entertained for years, but Depp has really brought Willy Wonka to life. If you don't enjoy this movie it is probably because of it's silliness, but if you like fun and fantasy, this movie is for you.
Dark Water (2005)
Why? Why? Why???????
I cannot figure why the trend to re-make another Japanese horror flick. Okay, The Ring was good, Ring 2 okay, but the trend is getting ridiculous. I give Dark Water a 2, only, because Jennifer Connelly is a good actress, otherwise the film should have been named Shallow Water. The plot has no depth, the threat is minimal, and the characters are depressing. Has the film industry forgotten how to create a good horror flick that they have to borrow movies from other countries? And they are not even that great of movie. I know I own some of them. Recently, I heard that once again they are coming out with another re-make, this one called The Ghost. I can only imagine. My girl friend after viewing Dark Water, looked over at me and said, "Do you think I could get a refund on the last two hours of my life?" I think it's time to step up to the plate and start putting out some quality horror/supernatural films. Jennifer Connelly, we love you, but the film stinks.
Batman Begins (2005)
Batman Lives...Finally!!!!
Batman Begins is one of the best films of the year. Christian Bale does an excellent portrayal of the Bat/Bruce Wayne. The beginning is a little slow for those acquainted with Batman, but even a new fan to the genre can quickly begin to follow along. The dark edge of the Batman is awesome and really sparks the film. I couldn't help but notice that Bale has the Adam West facial features, the yuppie look yet he has the muscle to be the Batman. The movie is just enjoyable from the look to the storyline. I have to admit. I had pretty much decided maybe this would be a DVD rental, because I was basing it on the previous attempts to bring Batman to life. As I sat there, eating popcorn, and watching the movie unfold I was surprised. I have to say it far exceeded my expectations and after seeing War of the Worlds, first, I would say, this movie is better hands down. Nothing against WOW. This is a gotta see movie and can't wait for the next movie. You won't be disappointed if you like super hero flicks.
War of the Worlds (2005)
Well done!!!! Applause!!!!
War of The Worlds is a real summer blockbuster. I felt the hype that preceded the movies was legitimate. I saw some things in the movie that lacked, but will let you decide for yourself. I will comment that as a long time fan of the cinema, the ending was rushed, it didn't quite give you that end of a roller-coaster thrill where you sit there and have to take a deep breath of relief. Jaws was one of those movies. Overall, though, the movie is entertaining and easy on the eyes. Fanning continues to delight fans with her acting and Cruise does what Cruise does well. Just glad all his negative press didn't ruin the movie. Go see it and check out the website, it is wonderful.
