Santa's Got Style (2022 TV Movie)

Who is the bad guy here?
13 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This was a fun movie until the final 3rd where we have to listen to this vain, self obsessed character talk about how betrayed she feels. Um, you didn't even recognize this man you have known your entire life because he had in a wig and beard? That tells me exactly how much you actually pay attention to the people around you. She has a checklist for the perfect man but she really needs to look at herself first. What a horrible character. I felt so bad for the guy in this one. He deserves so much better than to end up with this woman who is never, ever truly going to see him.

Also, why didn't that other guy get fired? He crossed a line and performed incredibly unprofessionally in a very public way.

Good except for...
10 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The girl who cannot act and just keeps getting saved over and over again by luck. I get that that's her thing in this movie but good grief it's tiresome to listen to her whiney voice the whole movie while watching her try to emote. I think that's what she was doing. It could have been constipation. She's not convincing as an innocent victim and she's not convincing as a bad guy. She's just annoying as hell. I have no clue who she is or how she managed to land such a big role next to so many name actors but I can only guess she has famous or wealthy parents.

The rest of the cast is fun and really good. Even the surprise cameos are great. The music was stellar and the story was really fun. It definitely had some Kill Bill vibes about it.

I will say, though, that it maybe strayed a little too close to being a Domino, from Deadpool, solo movie. The issue with that is that this spin takes this POC female character and does the Hollywood thing of redesigning her into a middle-aged white dude. Even worse is that the younger, POC actress who actually played Domino in Deadpool is in this but instead of being the lead she's now relegated to a five minute bit part. If you can overlook that and the truly awful girl I already discussed, then it's a fun flick.

Least favorite so far...
6 November 2022
Visually this episode was lovely but the story itself just seemed to drag on and on and never really felt like it was going anywhere interesting. We both agreed that it felt like we had watched a miniseries rather than a single episode because it was so slow. On top of that, Glover, who is normally a good actor, gives one of the worst accents I've heard in a while. If you are like me and can't skip an episode in an anthology series without feeling like you missed out on somethint then I highly suggest putting this one on in the background while you do something else, like make dinner or surf the internet.

Loved it

If you're expecting Nailed It Nicole Byer then you're going to be disappointed and probably shocked and appalled by the content here. This is a great idea of what she's like live. She's bawdy, she's raunchy, she's more than a little sassy, and she's funny as Hell. We laughed constantly while watching this series and I was sad when we finally reached the end. I highly recommend giving it a viewing if you need a good laugh and enjoy this style of humor.
