Insecure (2016)
Remember your insecure times...
I'm talking remember your transition from your twenties to thirties. Do you remember? If you don't you should not be very old to begin with, since you probably aren't out of your twenties. For the rest of you, come on! This may be from a perspective other than your own, but it is good and funny and lighthearted and serious show. It may seem to me an oxymoron, but it is not. This is a show for people who don't get offended easily and seek truth wherever it is found. If that is not you, if you get offended by real world language, real world situations, real world relationships, or real world people, no matter what their background or culture, this show is not for you. Go and watch "Leave it to Beaver" and never watch any other show and you will love your life. This is a show for open minded people who are not nostalgic, but recognize the universality of growing up and reaching the grave. This show made me remember what it was like to be dating, and in my twenties while nearing thirty (which happened after dating), and reminded me of how crazy life can be for women, since I am a man. This is a solid show and it should have a higher rating than it does on IMDb.
The Last House on Cemetery Lane (2015)
Yeah, some independent films are good and others...
Spoiler Alert: unless you are related to the film makers and are posting a review to help them or the actors' egos this film sucks! It is not the greatest film ever, and it is also not the worst. However, from the first moment of film it feels like a high school project headed to community college. The pink lipstick on the realtor lady...why? The first song with lyrics echoes like a song from 1999. Why? That 's probably the biggest mystery of the film. The acting is dull and the scares are mediocre. The scariest part is the bearded main character walking down the stairs in his robe. At least we didn't have to see his Waspy junk. The worst part of the film is the ripoff dream scenes (with bells!) that hint at the writer and director being fixated on Stephen King's The Shining. Skip this movie if you think a slice of pizza is better than boredom. Go wait for the pizza. Skip this film if YouTube is entertaining. Skip this film if you find Vanilla Ice's music entertaining. The only people who should watch this film are fans of trite, dull horror films and fans of Creed. At least their echoing kind of made sense.
Firestarter (1984)
If you think King is just about horror you're a moron...
Too many reviews on IMDb complain about this title not being scary. One talks about the first half being scary, but the second not. It's not supposed to be scary, horror scary at all, but is more in line with 1984 and the idea of government agencies overreaching. It is way more SciFi than horror with. Conspiracy theory thrown in for good nature. My biggest problem is George C. Scott as the antagonist who is supposed to be Native American. This is not a great film, nor is it a bad film. Watch and decide. It is A Stephen King film involving the Shop. It is therefore, connected to Golden Years and other stories. Keep in mind that it is not IT and it is not one of his multiple ghost stories. This is a psychological SciFi flick that borders on dystopian.
Haunter (2013)
Idgits need not leave review...
This is not a horror movie. This is a suspensive ghost story. The acting is not horrible. It is not Oscar worthy either; however, it is a good ghost story. Many of the people out there leaving reviews for this film obviously come from a family where it is cool to interbreed with relatives, or they never learned to distinguish between genres in school. This is not a horror movie. It is a ghost story built on suspense. Major difference! This is a solid film. If you appreciate ghost stories with a shard of mystery, then watch this film. If you want b-rated trough material, then stay up late trolling through Netflix and leave no review for this title. Seriously, most of the reviews I read for this film complained of it being not horror. My dad's not a cell phone. Duh! They remind me of the jackass who left a review for the latest season of Robot Chicken on Amazon complaining it was not a "kid's show." Really? I, as a normal human being, with a close to average IQ would have never known that, considering I can read and therefore read the category the film actually belonged to. If you like ghost stories, watch this film!
The Bell Witch Haunting (2013)
"January 21th"...enough said
They tried. They really did. However, the movie is like watching a bunch of talentless a**clowns trying to decide what storytelling and acting is. They literally put as one of the dates, "January 21th." I almost peed myself from laughing.
The story seemed to be typed by monkeys on crack, the acting is poor, and the found footage idea just sucks this late in the game. I watched to the end so you wouldn't have to. Nothing here new or worth seeing, except the breasts flashed in the first few minutes, but as they were supposed to be high school students, you should feel bad even seeing that. Skip this movie!
