Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)

They did it. They ruined GoT.
29 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The battle itself is ok, but the resolutions are terrible. They made both Daenerys and Jon Snow useless. Their dragons did basically nothing. But the worst comes next when Arya uses a teleport and kills the Night king ending the entire white walkers manece in the most anti climatic way possible.

Masterful romance/fantasy
9 August 2017
Boku wa asu, kinou no kimi to dêto suru is a classical Japanese melodrama. And i don't say that in a bad way.

Much like the classic "Love Letter, directed by the brilliant Hirokazu Kore Edo, this movie wraps nostalgia, romance and drama by pulling the right strings of your heart.

It is a deliberate choice by the director to rise the music and focus on the actor faces, he wants you to cry and you probably will.

That's because Boku wa asu, kinou no kimi to dêto suru succeeds in spectacular fashion in building an adorable relationship between the main characters in the first act.

Even if a bit confusing - and requiring a huge suspension of disbelief - this film is a winner. If you like melodramas, movies that you know have the objective to touch you and make you cry, you can't go wrong with this one.

Absolutely beautiful romance/fantasy flick.

Solid action movie
8 March 2008
Being a (moderate) fan of Roland Emmerich i had high expectations on 10,000 AC and attended on the world premiere.

All i have to say is that 10,000 AC is a very entertaining action film. I won't lie to you, this movie is not a about a great story, huge turnabouts or memorable characters. Instead, Emmerich delivers a visually stunning film, with powerful action scenes and a interesting blend of civilizations on a single territory.

This is not meant to be a historic movie. It's not realistic or accurate on any means. It's an action film set on a very "own" interpretation of the time it portraits.

If all you want to see is a great action experience with delightful visuals and an extremely beautiful girl (Camila Belle is simply perfect!) you cannot go wrong with 10,000 AC.

One of the most overrated movies of this decade!
2 March 2006
Motivated by the tons of good reviews of Brokeback Mountain and the man behind it (Ang Lee, of the fantastic Sense and Sensibility and Crouching Tiger...) i watched Brokeback mountain...

My god! I'm totally surprised by the hype surrounding this movie! BM is a simple, slow paced, predictable love story. OK, its a gay love story but who cares? Just change the sexual orientation of a character gives a movie all that status? OK, now i will begin to make Gay films and won some Oscars! Speaking seriously, Brokeback Mountain is an ordinary and boring movie. The strong sex scenes with famous actors and convincing roles gave this movie all that notoriety and media but, looking on the neutral movie fan prism, the movie lacks content and power.

There's a WHOLE bunch of amazing pictures in 2005 like Cinderella Man, Constant Gardener, Capote, Syriana, Good Night and Good Luck and, specially, Crash. It's a shame, but this poor movie (Brokeback Mountain) will take the Oscar...

Trust me, if you want a good movie, skip this one.

King Kong (2005)

An incredible history of loyalty and love!
15 December 2005
I just came back of the premier of King Kong and I'm almost without words! It was a work of a shine so powerful, with a magic so pure and intense... Wow! PEter Jackson really caught my breathe one more time!

Everything works in an awesome harmony. In the first part of the movie the characters are introducted and developed. Forty minutes of competent drama and comedy. Them we have the second chapter, the arrival to the Skull Island, full of unbelievable action sequences! Trust me, here you will see some of the most epic and brutal sequences of action of all time. Here the relationship of Ann Darrow and King Kong starts. And, its this face of the movie that is really mesmerizing! The relationship of them both is so pure and loyal... The humanity in Kong is so beautiful and touching! So, the final act... Action in NY... TOUCHING AND INTENSE This is all that i can say!

All the actors are outstanding, Jack Black and Adrian Brody do a flawless work, but it's the "couple" Naomi Watts, stunning beautifully and kind as Ann Darrow , and Andy Serkins as the mighty Kong who make you lose your breath and shed tears!

Trust me, King Kong is a epic of love. Love unconditional. A history with incredible cool looking action sequences but, essentially, a tale of how a true love can make someone (or something...) fight with everything.

PERFECT!

PS: There is 2 important errors in the script, but BELIEVE ME this DOESN't MATTER! The movie is great! The 188 minutes just RUN!!!

Salles did it again!
4 July 2005
WOW! This movie is totally awesome! Jennifer is just amazing and the direction of the amazing Walter Salles is top notch and totally flawless! The movie is tense, scary and yet believable.

A movie truly underrated by the fury of the geeks that simply cannot accept a remake that is CLEARLY best than the original!

Don't believe in what they say! The original is a totally amateur film, poorly directed and with a shameous production.

Just remembering, the original is full of junk actings and is a "direct to video" movie.

I don't have nothing against the j-horrors, i loved Ju-ON and Chakushin Ari, but this remake is far batter than the Japanese, believe me!

If you are a j-horror fan, don't be childish and give a chance to this remake!

For me, the best horror movie since Signs!

JUST RUN FOR THE THEATER!

Funny and sad at the same time... Just like the life!
2 July 2005
The outstanding director Jorge Furtado debuts with this simple but brilliant movie. The plot is about a normal, and poor, guy, with dreams and a distant love, like everyone one of us had once in life. Lázaro Ramos is in an astounding performance, Andre becomes a very touchable character, and we laugh and cry with his plans to make money to finally approach his real love. Speaking in Andre's love interest we need to talk about Leandra Leal in a very competent and flawless performance she makes a sweet, but rather deep and human, girl. The chemistry between them is very believable and make the plot sound amazingly near to the audience.

The work of Jorge Furtado is memorable, the narrative is fast and very funny, the work with the cameras don't have a single flaw, making a clear and polite movie. The plot is simple but with creative, and believable, twists. The only point that deserves complains is the sound... Sometimes the sound editing is so unprofessional that i care about the Brazilian structure of cinema industry. Anyway it doesn't matter if you don't have a powerful 5.1 system in your room.

"O Homem que copiava" is a very competent movie, full of comedy and dramatist, with brilliant acting and an end that show us that the concept of good and bad are perfectly relative.

Olga (2004)

No, this is not all that Brazilian cinema have to give!
26 September 2004
Olga was one of the most anticipated movies in history of Brazilian cinema. The images of the production was showed drop-to-drop, to rise the hype that surrounded this movie. The trailer was fantastic. With a brilliant cinematography and a beauty melancholic soundtrack. But now, when the movie finally arises in theaters... What can i tell you? Well, this movie REALLY couldn't fulfill the expectations that have created.

There are very reasons that makes Olga an ordinary movie. And the mainly is the direction. Jayme Monjardim (a traditional TV director in Brasil) had their debutance in cinema with this work. The problem is that Olga, has sequences and visual very near of the TV works of the director. The movie doesn't have rhythm and feeling of a real movie. It looks like a TV series showed on a great screen. The movie is very boring, the edition is poor and don't give the rhythm that a movie like that needs. The plot is very dramatic but sound like a journal romance. At least the cinematography is great in the most part of the movie and the art-direction makes a great job to create a cold Germany in the very tropical Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

If you really don't know the Brazilian cinema, this is not a movie that represents the talented Brazilian directors. A movie without rhythm, descent plot and straight direction, but with a great visual. Go see "City of God", "Redentor" and "The man who copied" if want to know why Brazilian cinema is rockin around the world.
