Not at all recommended. Blasphemy! Blasphemous!
21 June 2023
Very poor aesthetics. Poor casting. Over the top VFX and screenplay. Noisy promos held no promise at all. They forecasted the kind of movie it was going to be. No accuracy. No morality. No language discipline. It's a shame in the name of a religious saga. Where are the cultural and religious watchdogs? How could the censorship board pass it? Not a single scene is watchworthy, let alone praiseworthy. The Japanese animated Ramayans were way better than this headache picture that does not evoke the tiniest of devotion. It's like the cheap currency notes introduced by the Indian government post demonetisation.

Thus series is avoidable at best. No substance. No sincerity. Better watch some old doordarshan series.

NOT a cheap movie...
10 October 2015
Plz don't rate this movie without watching it. You might underrate it. The poster gives a wrong impression. It's not a B-grade or C-grade film. It's an A-rated A-grade film. 'A' not as in 'Adult', 'A' as in Adolescent. The script could have been better and the plot could have been more convincing. Poonam Pandey as Anita Joseph, Shivam Patil as Saahil, Sheetal Singh as Tia and Vishal Bhonsle as Samuel gives a fair performance. All of them have executed their respective parts well enough. But there should have been thought put into the writing and propaganda. Promotion could have been less provocative. I'd have rated it 7/10 but since the net rating is too low, I'm rating it 8/10.

Roy (2015)
9/10
It's difficult to form an opinion about this film.

This is an amorous glamorous movie starring Arjun Rampal (Kabir), Ranbir Kapoor (Roy), Mandana Karimi (Pia), Shibani Dandekar (Zoya) and Jacqueline Fernandez in dual role as Ayesha/Tia. Cyrus Broacha, Rajit Kapoor (Detective Wadia), Anupam Kher, Barun Chanda and Shernaz Patel (Meera) play supporting roles.

Background score and the songs are catchy. Dialogues are well-written. Cinematography is resplendent. Screenplay could have been better. Acting is commendable. Overall there's a sedative effect. See it to the end to form an opinion about this film.

The thing is: Arjun Rampal portrays the writer-director Vikramjit Singh himself. Arjun is Vikam's projection on screen while Roy is Kabir's projection on reel. This is the crux.

I don't get it why this film has such low IMDb rating. It should be above 7. As a bollywood flick, this flick is far better than many other flicks. Pair this movie with Inkaar (2013) to gain a better experience.

A refreshingly simple movie

Warning: Spoilers
Rajpal Yadav plays Lallan, a dutiful senior security guard, who is in love with Saroja, a beautiful girl from his native village. Lallan is employed in Mumbai and regularly makes calls to his village to know the whereabouts of Saroja. He has a good friend in auto-driver Ganesh, in his boss-in-office Tiwari Chacha, in Gujarati groceress Hansaben and in RJ Anurag Pandey. He is in cordial terms with his colleagues. He frequently discusses his trivial troubles with Tiwari Chacha and seeks advice from him. After her exams are over, Saroja is due to be wedded to a stranger, 20 years senior to her, to the total ignorance of Lallan. Lallan comes to know of this through Pappu, a teenage kid, and Gitti, Saroja's friend. The marriage has been settled by Saroja's father on the assurance from the groom's end that he will receive a sum of 2 lac rupees which is meant to aid Saroja's brother Gabbu in fetching a job. While announcing her marriage over phone, Saroja mentions that she loves Kishan, jeweller Lachhmidas' son and wishes to marry him instead. This comes as a shock to Lallan, however, he commits himself to accomplish her wish for which he must arrange a sum of 2 lac rupees to be given to Saroja's father. Lallan goes through a lot of hassles in procuring the sum and then protecting it during his journey to his village, but overcomes everything by the grace of God. Eventually, Saroja comes to know through Gitti that Lallan loves her and he has taken so much trouble to fulfill her wish. She finds his sacrifice much superior to Kishan's care towards her which is next to null. She declares that she will marry Lallan who faints at this news. Thereafter Lallan and Saroja get married and Lachhmidas blesses the couple at the wedding while Tiwari promises to receive them in Mumbai.

Phantom (I) (2015)
8/10
In the end scene, she should have emptied the other cup into the sea behind her.

Warning: Spoilers
A very much watchable bollywood action flick if the audience is not prejudiced. Saif Ali Khan plays Jude Rosario / Daniyal Khan, an ex army officer. He is inducted into the RAW (Indian Intelligence) to carry-out a phantom mission of hunting down 26/11 terrorists and execute them neatly. But while on his last and most important target, things go awry and askew. Katrina Kaif plays Nawaz Mistry, his aide and accompanies him in his mission. No unnecessary songs or romance scenes. Not a must watch, but definitely a suggested watch! Any rating below 7 is not justifiable. I rate this Kabir Khan movie and Pritam's "Afghan Jalebi" score 8. There is a scope for Phantom II as Saif has not been shown to be dead in the end.

Sonali Cable (2014)
8/10
Not bad, plain simple story pretty well executed...
18 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Rhea Chakraborty in the pivotal role of Sonali, has done a commendable job. Gabriella Demetriades playing Zoomi has a glamorous appearance in the film. Raghav Juyal (Sada) and Ali Fazal (Raghu) have done remarkably well. Script and Dialogues could have been better. Anupam Kher as Shining's Chairman (Narayan Singh Vaghela), Swanand Kirkire as Sonali's dad (Dattaram Tandel) and Smita Jaykar as Raghu's mom (Minatayi Pawar) have given great performances individually.

The story is about a small local brand Sonali Cable vs big national brand Shining Group. Shining invades Sonali's territory and in order to uproot Sonali Cable, hires goons (who happen to be Sada's elder brother) to attack Sonali's Cable Centre. Sada dies fighting one of the goons. In due course, RaceNet's owner's daughter Zoomi cheats Raghu and Sonali by making their company RaceNet's partner without disclosing that RaceNet had already decided to enter in partnership with Shining. Sonali then takes revenge by hacking into Shining's computer and publicly leaking them through 'Sonali Leaks'. Vaghela goes to police custody, his company Shining Broadband's license gets suspended, and Sonali Cable is revived as Sada Cable. Raghu and Sonali, who love each other, reunite again. Sonali had earlier suspected Raghu of holding knowledge of Zoomi's plan.

Buno Haansh (2014)

Not up to the mark.
23 August 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Inappropriate Ending; Characters not well cast and portrayed; Srabanti's role, Gargi's role are too limited. It will leave you unsatisfied, I bet.

Deb plays a common man (Amal) whose girlfriend (Sohag/Srabanti) is suffering from some terminal illness. He's offered a job by Munmun Sen to smuggle illegal articles across international borders. His first consignment takes him to Dhaka. Before the next consignment he's sent on a trip to Bangkok where he incidentally meets Rijula/Tanushree who was cheated by Gargi/Adrija (Addy) into an escort job. Amal and Rijula meets another Mafia who consigns them with a leather bag. Rijula separates from Amal at the Calcutta airport without informing Amal who soon finds him in trouble with local goons who works for that Mafia as he has lost the leather bag that he entrusted to Rijula. Rijula has taken that bag to her apartment. She calls him after he has searched her for long and asks him to reach her room. Rijula insists on opening the bag to see its contents. It turns out to be 1 crore Indian rupee. They plan on escaping to Pune with that sum. At Pune, when they discover that their money is fake currency, they bet it on racecourse and get huge returns. Soon the racecourse corruption breaks out and cops come out to hunt them. The local goons back in Calcutta also intensify their search with their Pune connections. They plan to escape to Australia. Rijula gets her visa from the consulate whereas Amal is denied due to bad interview. She manages to take off but her partner is stuck back with the leader goon fiercely after him. During the chase game, Amal learns that his Sohag is comatized. As he has lost his hope for her recovery, he becomes more miserable. With the help of his friend Robin, he gets an "Italian" gun and ""in his first shot" and "in an unaimed stray shot" shoots down the goon who is behind him. The movie ends there in a gloomy tone.
