There is a time when we will die but till then just live life.
12 February 2017
Human interaction is like a note played on the piano. The right combination of keys go together to get a note running. Not every note makes it to the top but The Intouchables(the name is quite deep) do.The movie in its entirety shows a sublime harmony of an honest relationship, between an accidental handicapped gentleman and a street smart, blunt smoker black guy. There is not much to describe the plot, it's more about feeling it. Nothing that we have not seen but still the life interactions shown here is a rare phenomenon in our everyday busy life. The movie does not make use of the beautiful Parisian landscape outside of the closed doors, but rather stays inside to explore the warm fuzzy feeling in a marriage between a quadriplegic and caregiver. Watch it and figure how humor and charm can destroy the overcast brought by being dead serious in life. There is a time when we will die but till then live life.

This movie will find its way to reach you !

Talk of an amazing movie you watched in recent times and The most violent year comes out as the front-runner.If you are a Scorsese fan or a Cappola addict, this movie will quench your thirst, well almost.Oscar Issac playing a character with a depth in business and patience has done justice to the role charismatically. It feels natural to the core and hit the right notes for a businessman of his stature. The subtle business tactics and the grounded state of mind is what he brings to the screen in a very pragmatic depiction.

The violence here is not direct. What director J C Chandor has depicted is the violence in the minds of the people playing their part.Jessica Chastin has been remarkable in what comes out as a strong character hinting to the gangster family background she has.Director has rightly portrayed her character without showing the upbringing that lead to it and it falls completely in-line.The time zone is not much dependent on the long shots of old ruffled town of 1981, but through the shades in the character.

The movie seems to be a complete piece not leaving you crave for more but not leaving you un-satiated.For the lovers of real cinema, you don't have to find time to watch this movie, it will take its own time and find a way to reach you organically .

Fresh piece of art called 'Kynodontas' alias dogtooth that could truly define modern art in moving terms.Surely not meant for the people who take movie as just another popcorn entertainment. This had the acting more often you expect in theatrical play. One of those movies that pictured gory circumstances in the most naive way possible be it the "lick for gift scene" or "running to bag the crashed plane", the anesthesia game, not to mention the incests that happened without even knowing it was one.The plane expressions,so consistent that you do not miss the lack of it.All the characters perfectly portrayed. The movie starts slow paced where you feel is it just you or everyone else too who is waiting for something to happen. As it progresses you accept and start liking the fact that this was the only pace movie could have moved. What the creator is trying to show does not need much of scene change or pace.Perfect cinema for audience who likes disturbing stories. The movie is strange and gory not because of some blood bath scene or killing, instead the effect that it creates as a father crosses all the boundary of deceit due to his twisted beliefs. If you liked Dreamer,Happiness, you will adore this 94mins of strange experience through Greek cinema. Truly defines why this movie has made its place in the academy award nominees list for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year.

If this is what Indian cinema has learnt in the last 100 years we would need another 200 maybe.

Each of the four stories are substandard. It looks more like an art school project than serious cinema. And whats more disappointing is the fact that the best directors in India aka Anuraag kashyap,Dibakar Dannerjee,Zoya Akhtar and Karan Johar where involved with this hideous piece of work.Ironically, they might just be really smart in depicting what Indian cinema has done in the past 100 years,in which case the movie is a true hit.

Karan johar depicting a story of a Gay man trapped in a closed society is a subject that surely catch your eyes but a direction-less story and an overly exposed Rani mukherjee feels like a cheap trick to borrow audience. 0.5/5 for the director who has a huge burden of his poor legend and who might just identify with the story he has depicted.

The story of a failed actor, depiction of Dibakar banerjee is more of an art piece. You could see Ingmar Bergman all over the film, specially the last piece of theater acting where direction pulls the film from zero to pinnacle.Nawazuddin as usual is pleasure to watch. But it still looks like a hasty attempt. And good directors should take a lesson from Tarantino to time their good work even if it means 6 cinema in 26 years.Over all a 2.5/5.

Zoya Akhtar seems to be more of a colorful director. But the story used here, only let her use the colors in clothes or maybe an occasional lip smacking sticks used by a babie who wishes to be a dancing Bieber. It might just entertain as a bed time fairy tale story to some kids.Dumb storytelling.I don't blame the actors or the director but the script and the hurried shoot schedule. 2/5 is my call on this art school project.

And after three intermissions in a single movie comes a fresh little breather. Not the best piece of cinema but certainly best among all.Anurag Kashyap has tried his tad bit to capture the essence of life in true sense like he always does.If you did manage to reach the last 30 minutes of Bombay Talkies you might just end it up on a good note. I will go for 3/5.

And when you do complete the last story don't even wait for a second,if you do,comes a song that will give you a bad hangover like from a cheap bottle of whiskey.

Don't wait,runlolarun.Yes its that bad.

A perfect cocktail
24 February 2013
Its a movie book.Between the opening and closing of the paperback cover resides a sweet fresh movie avoiding the cliché life and still talking about the same old love, friendship, marriage and all the likes.Dare not miss the intricacies of each scene(highlights being the after party scene or the silent narrations of Xavier, annoyingly funny British brother or the rendezvous between Xavier and Anne-Sophie).I would rather call it peeping through a keyhole into the lives of strange expatriates. It all looks that natural at the core. Cinematic experience starts getting richer with addition of every character.Though the movie does not deal with going into depth of each character and is based on their superficial portrayal, its more about life on the surface for 5-6-7 roommates and the intersections. An interesting mix of events is sure to happen when each one comes from different world and still mingle like a perfect cocktail, secret recipe being the flavor of youth.A french arty-farty movie,it still melts like cheese with the air of warmth surrounding each of the characters.
