The Chosen: The Wedding Gift (2019)
Emotional and thought provoking
I have never though before of the emotions that may have been felt at the wedding. It was just a story to illustrate Jesus' ministry going public. I am grateful for this imagining of what it could have been like. From Mary, knowing what she was asking, to Jesus' emotions as He prayed that He was ready. It made me cry knowing what is to be, and knowing what He was doing for us. That's what I am loving about this series. The real people-their hopes and dreams-entwined with Bible teachings, is making me think deeper into the reality of Jesus' life and the lives of those around him, and of the impact He has on all of us. I can't wait to experience more of this show!
Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend (2022)
Alton Brown is my food hero
I love Alton Brown and it is great to see him again. His food knowledge is incredible. I also really like Andrew Zimmern. He is a great balance between the guest judge and Motamed.
Cinderella (2021)
Lighthearted and Fun
It's not your typical Cinderella, but it's not meant to be. It's a fun version-it reminded me of a cross between Ella Enchanted and Shrek, with the bright, colorfulness of Bridgerton. Idina Menzel is amazing, as always, and Pierce Brosnan and Minnie Driver are excellent. I don't think this would have been as enjoyable without the three of them. Camila Cabello is passable, her voice was irritating at times. Nicholas Galitzine did well as the prince. I thought I would not like Billy Porter as the godmother, and although the performance was a little over the top-it was meant to be-, I really did enjoy it. This is a modern take, and not everyone will enjoy it because of that, but if you give it a chance and keep an open mind it will entertain you.
NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service: The Tell (2012)
Quietly emotional episode
The chemistry between Mark Harmon and Jamie Lee Curtis is so fun to watch. Their connection makes for an episode that is one of my favorites. They have a wonderful way of acting without too much dialogue. I also love the connections Ryan makes with Ducky and Abby. I wasn't sure I'd like her character in the first episode she was in, but I think the writers have taken her in a good direction. Sean Austin was also great to see. His teddy bear line was cute. A psy-op character like this would be a great addition to the show.
Wild Bill (2019)
Worthy of another season
Wild Bill started off a little slow, but really picked up nicely. We only have 6 episodes to judge, which is a shame. We were learning about the characters and as each was becomings human, it was over. Episode 6 showed that this could be a great show. I know British shows have less episodes per series, but six? It was never even given a chance. I just found it in October. I think it should be renewed or another station should pick it up. If you haven't watched it, it's worth it.
The Doctor Blake Mysteries: Darkness Visible (2015)
Wow! What a season ender!
There is a lot of emotion in this one. Many of our favorites have returned for the end of this season and so much comes to a head. Lucien's mother, Jean, Lawson, Ashby, and that awful excuse for a human being, Munro. Patrick Tyneman is almost becoming likeable - almost. One of the best, if not the best episodes in the series. The actors do such an amazing job. I was angry, sad, happy & satisfied -all in this one hour.
The Great British Bake Off: Cake Week (2017)
Missing Mary, Mel, and Sue
I love the show, but it has lost its spark without these three. If Mel and Sue had stayed when Mary retired it would still be fine. The new hosts are trying to be like they were, and don't hit the mark. The show is just missing something. A lot of the magic is gone. I hope it picks up.
The Great British Bake Off: Chocolate (2015)
More excuses
Nadiya keeps getting through week after week. This week takes the cake (tee hee) The other bakers made these complex bakes in the showstopper and she covers up rice crispy treats. Instead I'd asking about her simple design (in the semis), the judges declare it the best tasting! It was a rice crispy treat she covered with a blue-colored fondant! Hmmm... we know she's successful now. We'll see how it goes in the final.
Murdoch Mysteries: Up from Ashes (2017)
We'll miss you
To Augustus Jackson. You will be missed, especially next Christmas.
