The show itself is good but
15 February 2024
The show itself is good but if this is scripted, just no, and if it's not scripted, just no. Maybe if these parents would stop saying you're so wonderful baby girl, you can't disappoint me baby girl. Yes you can. And kids need to hear that. That you are not perfect and you will get me upset so no, you will not do that. You will not do whatever you want. Set boundaries with your kids, tell them you aren't happy with them, stop tip toeing around them like everything they do is ok. The vocabulary I use with my kids is so different from this show and I can tell you exactly why my kids don't rob, steal, drug, drink or anything else. I expect you to fly right, I expect you to do your share, I expect you to follow the rules and if you don't, I'm on you like white on rice, I was be disappointed and I will correct you and tell you you are wrong. Period. This whole show has an ongoing thing of parents who never tell their kids no and tell them even going to prison is ok, they're still loved. You know who the best person in this series was, the people who didn't show up at the anniversary party. Because their boundary shouted no, I'm not coming to a party for you because you chose to steal. Keep that. Tough love.

The acting was great as always but Hollywood is terrifying
23 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The characters were likeable, the acting was fantastic as always. My lack of stars is not against the actors. But this story line, this Hollywood delusion that raping a child deserves any sort of second chance, is just insane. And it's a sign of the times that was in Hollywood. It's exactly in line with what so many child actors and so many adult actresses are saying, Hollywood sees nothing wrong with molesting people. So much so that they actually made a movie implying that a daughter and mother should give a father and husband a second chance because he made a mistake. No not showing up at your kids play because you out work first is a mistake. Forgetting to pick up a present for a birthday is a mistake. Raping your own child is a sick crime, not a mistake. It deserves no second chances, it deserves no fair discussions, it deserves no forgiveness. What it does deserves is permanent separation and never speaking to that person again. What kind of insane person would write a script and think living together and trying to reconcile would even be a possibility. Putting a child at risk again. Making a child a second class citizen with no rights to protection. And at the end the mom says "I was jealous and selfish". She was jealous that her husband raped her daughter. Is she insane????? Who wrote this because their mentality is terrifying. I'm writing no spoilers because no one should watch this sick movie. Had they kicked him out and fought it out in court, I would have recommended this movie. It's a topic that we need to discuss.

What a funny, silly, light hearted movie
14 October 2023
I just needed this today. From Jennifer Garner's Minnesota accent...in Iowa. Loved it. She nailed it. Her character was on point! And the whole casts light hearted jokes, the whole movie was awesome. The writer scored big time with this movie. I'm always saying it would be nice to see a movie that hasn't been done before..this is it. Once in a while you get one thay gives you a great laugh and good script. Awesome cast, awesome acting, great script, and most of all...good ending. Laughed right down to the last second of bloopers. Feel good movie with a great cast. Whoever did the casting gets props.

Beautiful Movie
23 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The actors were fantastic and the story line is so true to life. So many of us feel trapped in the world we live in, we rarely step outside that world until well into our 50s or 60s when we have the confidence to do so because we realize, this is it, this is all there is.

The characters are likeable. I was disappointed in the ending though. I think it was clear that Walter and Mouna are in love and I think he should have asked her to marry him. He needs a woman, she needs a man and the hit it off so well. I guess reality is that he wouldn't ask her to marry him so quickly but sometimes it happens and I think this was one of those instances where it should. I found the entire movie beautiful. Who doesn't love a human connection story. I like to imagine Mouna finds a way back to Walter and so does Tarek. So even though I'm a little disappointed by the ending, I did love the movie.

Pretty good storyline in general.
26 July 2023
I liked the movie overall, it was a feel good movie. The relationship between the husband and wife kind of got on my last nerve, oh honey, you hurt my feelings, I kind of felt like grow a pair. Lol But overall, the relationships of all the characters were interesting. The grandma gets on your nerves too. Okay so a lot of the characters are a bit whiney but the storyline itself is pretty good. The music is great. I'm not very religious but I just think it has a good message of love and caring for one another. And maybe stop whining if you're a wife and be more considerate of your husband. I give it two thumbs up for a nice message and ok acting.

It was pretty good
26 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't see the original. The storyline was a very good storyline, something new for once (to me anyway). I thought the acting was pretty good although Michelle Williams character's calmness was pretty annoying at times. Just because you are a do gooder, doesn't mean you're always calm. Overall I liked all the characters. I liked the plot. I wasn't a fan of the ending. I thought it was an "eh" ending to such a good storyline. I also didn't like the concept that one person was controlling another's life with money. I don't think it was very realistic, we all have choices and money doesn't influence people to that level. Not sincere people anyway.

Never Forget. Tell them. Always.
22 July 2023
I think when people review movies like this, they forget that these books and movies represent real people, not just a story from a movie. Somewhere in this world there was a Hannah, and she was beaten, starved, worked literally to death. Someone in this world there was a baby, born in the middle of a freezing night, hidden away most likely not for even a day, starved herself to a mother who only had a piece of bread at the whim of a madman. The baby was found and then used as target practice for a group of men so depraved, they stopped seeing people as human. Somewhere in this world there was a little girl, desperate to be 10 so she could live but caught being 8 so she was murdered. And another desperate to look 10, hoping to be 10 someday, who now has grandchildren to tell her life story to. Good acting, bad acting, good storyline, bad storyline, none of it matters, just tell the story. Never forget. Tell them.

Even with Nicholas Cage is was just eh
21 July 2023
One of my biggest pet peeves about Hollywood, is they take a bunch of Californians and make movies in "New York". NO just NO. Enough already. You can't copy the NY vibe and putting a bunch of blonde Californians on clean streets that look NOTHING like NY is just annoying as heck. Long Island City Hospital, really? SMH. There's just nothing more annoying, talk about trying too hard. Even when she's walking home, she's supposed to be in Long Island City but it looks like Nassau County aka Long Island, not Long Island City. The acting was fine but it's just a really boring plot, it's slow moving and hard to keep interest.

Forever's End (2013)

I really had to fight between 1 and 3 stars.
2 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I edited my review after reading a few artciles. I.didnt get the ending at firat, it was not throughly done enough and since so much was her imagination, i thought the ending could be too, it wasn't. The ending was done poorly. I liked the acting, a lot of people clearly didn't, I did. It was so obvious at some points, I won't spoil it but it was. The movie isn't an apocalypse movie, it's a chick flick about PTSD. I'm ok with that word bc I like being a chick and like chick flicks. As chick flicks go it had a ho hum ending. Needed much stronger writing than it had. But overall a good concept if you don't get bored and not think about the ending throughly.

Slow and ...nope that's it. SLOOWWWWW
20 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Every once in a while you come across a movie so slow, so depressingly, boringly, obnoxiously slow that you just want to beat your head into a wall. This is one of those movies. It has no real point. The characters are never really developed, they're just sort of there. The characters are looking for the same thing we all are, a point to all of this. It had no actual ending, no real anything. Nicole Kidman has been in some weird, slow movies before, think "The Others" but at least in the end, that one actually had a point and an interesting ending. This one leads you know where, they never find the girl. Am I killing the ending for you YES!!!! Trust me, you'll thank me, don't do it to yourself. This could have been done very well if it wasn't so annoyingly cryptic and painfully boring. Hard pass.

I knew these kids when I was a kid
2 April 2023
I grew up across the street from a group home. Those kids were a HOT MESS. Most are dead now, drugs. Prison, jail, drugs, producing their own messed up kids. It's very accurate. These are kids, you can't expect them to act like adults. Also they'll never have good lives, it's too late, their mentality is so gone. Sadly most will die early, prison, drugs and kids who are also molested by others. It's just sad that I knew these kids in the 80s and they're exactly the same as they were then, same services, same lack of help, same broken foster care system. Most of us don't want the problems that come with foster care kids. You get attached to them and they just take them away. It's why I would never do it. My aunt used to take kids in and you spend holidays with them then they leave and you never see them again.

Great Acting Funny Plot
26 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I loved this movie. It shows the world from a child's perspective but not just any child, a girl teen. And from the perspective of someone who has no choices and is being forced to marry. I love the humor. Sadly this still exists worldwide, it's not farfetched at all. And girls are saying no more and more. Meanwhile we get to enjoy the humor of one girl who refuses to marry and makes mischief. Well acted, funny plot. The characters are all very likeable. The relationships of parents to children never change, not even thousands of years later, that's what makes it extra funny. And parents still try to control children through useless physical power. Overall I just loved the whole thing.

It was a generally good movie
11 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
SPOILER ALERT It was a generally good movie in premise. I liked it up until the end. I was a bit disappointed that it ended the way it did. I don't think the lead male character would have left her like that without food. I guess he knew his brother would show at some point. Also I would have liked her reaction after the ending scene. Generally good idea, could have been done just a bit better and more detailed but it was a good premise.

I would have liked her to make it back to town and the police to be there. And her to see that he was the one, not just in spirit. I like solid endings, not implied ones.
