Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)

UNIQUE EPISODE BRAVO!
5 May 2019
S8 E3 is a fantastic episode. The darkness and confusion of a night battle was gripping. Camera shifts: from areal views to ground level to underground (crypts) are very nicely done. The haunting music is superb. I have not seen anything quite like this.

The Village (2004)

Amazing
14 August 2004
I saw the movie twice and will get the DVD when it becomes available. I liked The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, but The Village is my favorite of Night's movies. It seems to have another dimension, extremely well crafted; the acting, particularly the blind girl role, is top notch; the use of color is amazingly simple and powerful. However, I would recommend leaving kids at home: they are likely to be more

bored than scared.

Boring Actually: half baked dramas & stale soapy fantasies
2 December 2003
In spite of some great actors and a few funny scenes, the movie

falls apart and drags because it is a hybrid of half baked dramas

and stale soapy fantasies. It includes several plots, some of them

potentially interesting, but all incomplete, thrown together in haste.

I gave this movie 4 out of 10: 1 for Emma Thompson, 1 for Alan Rickman, 1 for Colin Firth 1 for Rowan Atkinson

Cliché? NOT!
11 May 2003
A truly great comedy, best movie of the year so far. The quality of Guest's

masterpieces from Spinal Tap to Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show and then

this movie has been steadily improving. This one has added a new touch to the mockumentary genre: a mix of drama which contrasts with comedy and makes it

shine.

Adding drama to comedy is akin to mixing fire and ice, Fellini and Chaplin could do it, Woody Allen tried for years, but never quite got it. This new mix has left even some of the mockumentary lovers scratching their heads. A few negative

reviews are entertaining and appear to be written by characters from the movie: apologizing "for being unable to determine how to type the necessary accent

mark for the "e" of cliche" is similar to Balaban's fussy character, who was

concerned that the audience might hurt themselves on decorative flower

arrangements or get poisoned by chewing on the vines.

This movie is a tribute to art, no matter how clumsy it may be, as long as it is sincere, it has a magic ability to transcend the absurd, the ridiculous and the mundane. .

By far not as good as the 1st movie
11 May 2001
I liked the first movie and I guess it was wrong to expect the same

quality from the sequel.

Amazingly, in spite of some nice special effects, the movie rushes

through with not even a hint of suspense, interesting story or surprise.

The plot is needlessly complicated, the acting ranges from good to

mediocre. The kid is a good actor but is totally out of place in this

movie. It seems like the producers wanted to please the audiences of

different ages and backgrounds and failed.

I give this movie a 5/10.

See Spot Run (2001)

Great Acting by a Bullmastiff
31 March 2001
See Spot Run is a silly fun movie in spite of embarrassingly stiff, terrible acting by David Arquette. The movie manages to be funny due to an amazingly good acting by the main character - Spot, played by a bullmastiff dog. Fast pace and several great supporting characters help to keep this movie entertaining. I give this movie a 6 out of 10. . ..

See the DVD - the Cut Scenes are the Best.
27 November 2000
Good acting and plot, but the movie is not funny enough for a

comedy and not deep enough for a drama. The main problem with

Keeping the Faith is that it is too soapy and long. Good part of

it could be cut. Ironically the scenes that were actually cut

from the movie but included on DVD in the "From the Editing

Floor " section looked very good and would actually help the

movie; particularly the scenes in the museum and the ingenious

cell phone "abuse".

No Slapstick just Lipstick. Terrible.
27 November 2000
Charlie's Angels is about three narcissistic creatures who

change their outfits and facial make up every other minute,

dodge a bullet or two and kick some bad guys in the process. The

three main characters are the worst part of the movie. It is

hard to call it a movie, one Sesame Street show has more

entertaining value and an average TV commercial has more

interesting special effects. The only funny part was the

bloopers shown at the end of the movie.

SHALLOW
19 September 2000
An interview with actual Erin Brockowich (she appears in the

movie for a few seconds playing a waitress), was much more

interesting than the movie. Watching this movie on DVD was a

waste of time, which even the fast forward button could not

remedy. I found the plot predictable and boring, the same could

be said about acting, particularly by Roberts who seems to have

a "one fits all" approach to all her roles.

Quite below the level of ABSOLUTE POWER
15 April 2000
Very predictable. Good acting part of the time, particularly

scenes with James Woods and Dennis Leary. Some other scenes

required heavy Fast Forward button use. Overall a poorly made

movie, quite below the level of ABSOLUTE POWER and IN THE LINE

OF FIRE.

A Unique Comedy
15 April 2000
One of the best undiscovered comedies. A superb cast of stars including Joan Plowright. Very believable and realistic and yet unbelievably funny. The plot is excellent. Inept hired assassins, sexual encounter in front of a german shepherd, "Monopoly" line by Kevin Kline… the film is full of comedic gems.

A provincial factory worker becomes famous because he has 33 teeth.
20 March 2000
An illiterate factory worker from a small provincial town in Soviet Russia becomes an overnight celebrity because he is found to have 33 teeth. His fame grows and he is summoned to Moscow. The Soviet Capital and society of the 1960s is seen through the eyes of a shocked, bumbling provincial factory worker. He discovers much about the world and himself.

Very potent combination of grotesque comedy and profound human drama in a tradition of Chekov, Gogol and Zoshenko.

One of the best movies of the 90s
21 November 1999
This is perhaps my favorite Burton movie -- a sarcastic comedy,

a look at the society in the 90s. I can only guess that most of

the critics who did not like this masterpiece recognised

themselves depicted in it and did not like what they saw. The cast is superb as well as the music. This film deserves a 10+...............

2 Hour Infomercial for the Brainwashed Kids
19 November 1999
I think Pokemon is the most boring movie I have seen in the last

several years. I did not expect much, it was my 10 year odls'

movie of choice. I am horrified by the degree to which my kid's

mind has been brainwashed to accept this as valid entertainment.

There is no plot, animation is below average.

I gave "Pokemon the First Movie" a 0 which this movie in my view

barely deserves

Very Good Movie with a Very Bad Ending
24 August 1999
I enjoyed this comedy/nightmare masterpiece: gripping plot, great acting, fast pace and slick editing up to the last 3 minutes. I am puzzled by a disappointing juvenile ending that absolutely does not fit the rest. Did the director's kid take over the project? I would like to know the story behind the production

Analyze This (1999)
4/10
There isn't much to analyze here.
24 August 1999
When tired clichés combine with big egos the result is predictable. De Niro makes an attempt to mock his own roles in more serious movies and become a comedian, which he is not.

Billy Crystal is trying to make an attempt to make a transition from a comedian to a serious actor, which he is not. Kudos to Kudrow for making a valiant attempt to energize the movie.

The plot is initially interesting but the action gets bugged down by the slow rhythm and very predictable scenes. Analyze This is too boring for a comedy.

A perfect 10
13 August 1999
It was a surprise for at least 2 reasons: the twist in the plot and the overall quality of the movie, including the Hitchcock like attention to detail.

Haley Osmond's acting is unparalleled - possibly the best acting by a child I have ever seen. Colette and Williams did a top notch job. Bruce Willis convinced me that there is some real talent behind the smirk.

This is a truly "haunting" movie (no pun intended), I enjoy thinking about it days after seeing it.
