Wow!! What anamazing episode a must see for everyone

The director did an amazing job with taking us through The agony and pain of waiting for a doctor to see you when you know somethings wrong. He did it just slowly enough for us to get really nervous throughout the whole episode and at the end when even the doctors break it's an amazing director and actors work

Best episode yet in a great series

Really moving story about a tragedy in childbirth, and as all in this series it's based upon the actual realities of American medical care. The addition of a real case at the end was very moving, and hit hard as not only drama but a real dose of reality. Brilliant.

Such a sad episode with an important message

I tend not to review single episodes and only do when I'm really moved by it. I was in tears by the end of this one. The low scoring reviews are people who just cannot fathom that racial bias does exist.

Thank you Fox for allowing the Resident to address current issues with incredible purpose. This is one of the most impactful television episodes I've ever seen. Incredible meaning. Mothers deserve better. Families deserve better.

Absolutely incredible

I will never forget this episode. It was so powerful and heartbreaking. I cried like a baby for a good 10 minutes. I actually thought I was the father and Dr. Pravish(sorry if I spelled his name wrong) during that moment. The writers did a good job implementing this real life situation into a show.

I have never seen the "The Resident" before but I will never miss an episode again. This episode has made me a fan for life. I watched episode #20, because the news mentioned it was a must see.

The best episode to date of this series and a MUST SEE for even non fans alike
sandinieto7 October 2019
An important and relevant episode dealing with gun violence and racial bias, based on true stories. A must see. It is well made, doesn't go preachy but is made real. The doctor in question is not placed to be a villan, but a normal human being with a racial biased, showing that even good guys, and good doctors can have racial (and other types) of bias. It is the first time I have ever review a single episode of a show and must say it merits it.

Amazing Episode
shewhodares-5443628 August 2019
This was an amazing episode and so important - I had an emergency csection with my second, they made a mistake and I had an internal bleeding and nearly died. I was fortunate to have nurses who were quick to respond and they and the surgeon saved my life. The thought that anybody would get less than that level of care is disgusting and terrifying! Acting was fantastic in this episode as it always is. Love the Resident! Keep making these important episodes!

The mother that this episode's story was based on deserved better.

If Not Now, When?

An interesting episode that certainly tackled an important topic, but it got too preachy at the expense of good storytelling here.

Also, suggesting that only certain people have bias is bogus.

One of the weaker episodes in a good series
johnhsmith-0005613 March 2024
I'm surprised by these reviews - this was probably the weakest episode so far. The episode tackles an important topic - racism in medicine, fine. But it does it in a drive-thru fashion with no subtlety whatsoever.

A black patient dies, then the young residents jump to accusing her attending physician of racism. Yet supposedly he's worked there for decades with no complaints. So the evidence is this one case? Why would racism be the first explanation?

It's also a single contained episode where we never saw this doctor before, and we don't see him again, so this issue is never really explored. It feels like the producers added it to check a box on a topic list and then dropped it afterwards.

It also adds to a very tired theme on this show, where the younger residents always have correct instincts and the older physicians are always making mistakes.

Shook Me To My Core

What an incredibly powerful episode. I don't know how anyone could watch this and not weep. Very relevant topic and brilliantly acted by the black dad. If you're pregnant or already a parent, this will hit a little closer to home. Have a box of tissues at the ready. This episode has left me in awe and I will think of it for years to come.

This show is amazing by itself, but this episode puts it thru the roof. I have never been this truly moved by a single episode of any series. It's a must watch for EVERYONE. Had me bawling by the end. #BlackWomenMatter

Make America great, for all!
ronaldkorzec17 April 2019
How sad this is a fact in America, and we try to deny it so, when are we going to learn our lessons and stop and truly make America great not based on political party, race or any other nonsense. Let go of the past and try to make America great for all!
