Good start but should have been at the end of the last series
ha77y73ad9721 September 2019
After hearing that this episode was meant to complete the 1st series this would have been a great ending and set up to the second.

With the trigon storyline finished and dearhstroke teased i would have enjoyed this far more that the start of this series. Along with titans tower finally reviled in San Francisco and the new team being formed i cant wait to see where deathstroke and the rest of the old titans will be in this series.

The only down side is that the budget was so small for this epuside causing Trigon in his final form to be a bit of a joke, hope with the bigger budget for season 2 will bring the the full glory of this team.

Season 1 Was Great Now Not Sure About Season 2
bilgehan_bolek6 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Firstly I believe with the success of the season 1, they have a bigger budget so it will be better this season. My main negative critic about this episode is about two things. Firstly, Trigon should have been destroyed (or it seemed like that) this easily. Secondly, with all due to respect to the actor who plays Bruce Wayne who also played Ser Jorah Mormont in GoT, who also is a great actor, shouldn't have played Bruce but instead Alfred. He is too old and skinny and even got a little bit belly fat (can be seen in a scene in the first episode) to be Batman / Bruce Wayne considered how young Dick Grayson is in the series(He should have been 35-45). So nobody in the DC have brains to tell he's not suitable for the character ? DC finally got good with the latest series such as Titans Episode 1, Doom Patrol and Swamp Thing and yet there's at least a troll guy who rock the boat when everything starts to get good in DC. There are tons of actors who could play the Batman / Bruce Wayne but they consistenly keep doing this joke everytime. Iain Glen is a great actor but even in season 1 where we've seen Bruce Wayne (even as a silhouette) he was considerably younger and bulkier and even looking a lot like Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne. Please fix this DC urgently. Even Bruce Wayne wouldn't give a pep talk and those dialogues and act like a old neighbour to Dick Grayson. (It is strange to the ears and you can say something is very wrong, it's not Batman's style). I hope the next episodes will be better and they will fix Bruce Wayne actor thing somehow.

A lot of buildup for nothing
Kingslaay26 January 2022
After almost a season of build up about Rachel's parents and the prophecy we got an abrupt end to Trigon. Trigon was built up to be this big evil villain who was unstoppable. But only 5 minutes into this episode he is easily defeated by his daughters. They said she would have to go through so many trials/training to be able to defeat him yet she beat him so easily? 5 minutes ago she did not know the extent of her powers and beats Trigon who knows his powers inside out.

It would have been better for a bigger showdown after so much build up. Rachel was in high spirits even after her parents were both killed in the same episode. I like where the episode ended up but it felt too rushed.

Should've been the ending of season 1

This episode feels more like an end for the first season then a beginning for the second one.

Good for a ending
supervicti-855526 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I don't understand why this wasn't the original ending, maybe they wanted a cliffhanger in the season 1 finale. But this is actually really good, after Trigon's defeat we can feel a lighter tone to the show, it still has the awful blue filter but I hope it's gone by next weeks episode. Loved it

What happen with plot ? from ending season 1 and beginning season 2, nothing special. Just say "Hey, wake up?!" and .. thats it. Enemy down. LoL. I thought they must find some mysterious way to beat Trigon. About weapon, or tech, maybe some magic spell. But in this episode ... "Rarwwwwwwwwwghh" only.

What SHOULD have been if producers HADN'T cut the first season
KikyNez11 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I have read a lot of reviews saying this should have been the end of season one.

Personally, I saw it was very rushed. Obviusly notorius changing in Rachel's and Gar's wigs from one shot to another in one scene demonstrate that reshoots has been done. Season one was first announced with 13 episodes, then a cut to 11 was done by the producer (WB?). So it really hurted the plot, because you can tell that this it was supposed to endure a two episodes battle against one of the most powerful and cruel character/villain as was hinted (and declared) severly by Kory herself and even those who wanted to bring Trigon back. Instead we have a half hour of conclusion. Well, DCUniverse (or WB?) have done it again. They did it to Swamp Thing (from 13 to 10, and rushed the cancellation after that) that deeply affected the wrapping in the story at the end. So, it is not new to them to do stupids thing like this that was done to Titans.

First, SPOILERS AHEAD!

Now: The group gathered at the force field just to be invited and do nothing. Not kidding, really nothing. Clearly that developed and explained differently in the two missing episodes that were cutted. Some scenes like the horror-esque scene with Gar and Rachel in a room, trying to hide from Dick, obviusly were more elaborated and longer than what was shown to us. Kory tells Donna she was the Titan who quit, that is OBVIOUS an interaction with full dialogue proving they had a lot of time to discuss something we didn't even know they had about Donna's backstory (I hope you can understand me).

I have questions like: was Angela a twin and not the real mother of Rachel as suggested previously by some scenes and photos at her house? was what all the deal with Hank and Dove joining? it would be nice to know why Rachel brought back Dawn from coma and instructed her to bring Jason's help. They (all of them) were absolutely useless in the "rescue", not to mention in the battle. The battle itself wasn't clear o definitive. We couldn't appreciate Raven's full power with the gem... And: was Trigon absorbed by it? Raven was completely badass but also completely underused as a fighter in that scene. We couldn't see all of her range of power.

END OF SPOILERS.

So, we have 2 hours compressed in 32 minutes, that made the episode so messy and incomprehensible, with a "bad" wrapping plot. And CGI that was cool in the dark, but was very bad worked in daylight (that also CLEARLY rushed).

All in all, I loved Deathstroke appearance, as well as Bruce and his chat with Dick, that highlighted the episode.

I actually liked it, just not loved it as I did the entire first season. Waiting for the next episode, and wishing that WB doesn't damage this season like they just did cutting 2 episodes in the previous one (and like they did with Swamp Thing, even cancelling it... sorry I can get over that).

8/10 just for Raven, Gar's snake, Deathstroke and Bruce. And for Hawk and Jason interactions (that were absolutely awesome).

Watch at your own risk, but remember we must watch to make a review. We are all critics.

The Terror of Trigon...
pdf06107210 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
So I have mixed emotions on this episode, overall I loved the first season and was excited to see them start (what I assume) was a storyline based on the classic story arc The Terror of Trigon. This arc in the comics is particularly memorable for me as I started reading it back when I was probably around 13 and it was what first got me into American comics (as a Brit I had read comics such as 2000ad, but this was something totally different.

So as I say I was excited to see this storyline started in the first season and with a pretty good cliffhanger also it's just such a shame the first episode of this season didn't really follow through. Yes there were some moments reminiscent of the arc what with the corruptions etc but it was all over so quickly the story surely could have been spread over to the next episode to flesh it out a bit more.

Don't get me wrong it wasn't an awful episode with some good moments it just didn't quite live up to expectations and was over all too quickly in my opinion just hope the rest of the series can restore my faith in the show.

Good start
markq-756547 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I'll be honest episode did seem a little rushed. Trigon himself looked ok, wish he has his long hair. Also it would've been cool if he was gigantic but besides that a good episode. It was an underwhelming conclusion with Trigon with Raven taking him down so easily but maybe that's cause he didn't have enough power. Also they had to change the ending, pretty sure the other ending was what we were expecting. But all the visions the very were having was cool. Then we also see Dick's season 1 arc end. He forgives Bruce and makes a new Titans.

Then we see Slade, he sees that Robin was on TV shouting Titans are back B****S! He then goes into a room with all his weapons and amazing looking suit. When then see Dick talk to Bruce and we go to what I assume is the the titans tower. Just not in a t shape. But the feel of what's to come has me excited. Now they're a team with a villain who will appear throughout the season. Who also has a past with our heroes.

All in all good episode to start off. I also think we'll see Trigon in the near future again.

Trigon (spoiler)
mrmay-480137 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I have to admit I'm a little disappointed with the beginning of season 2. After all, season one was entertaining as we were introduced to the characters and some background stories of their interactions. The journey was leading to the arrival of Rachel's father and the threat of all unholy hell, which started the first episode of all but Gar being possessed by Trigon and even Rachel's heart ripped out. Yet, all is made kosher in less than 15 minutes. Another surprise is the person portraying Bruce Wayne. Of course I knew it would be someone, a bit older than the Titans, but iain glen(?), c'mon now, he's blonde and definitely not physically sound as the dark night would have to be,,,perhaps Alfred. I can only hope the show can keep the interest it brought about in season one, Jason Todd staying with the group and introducing Deathstroke is shot in the right direction.

Season 2 is Amazing, despite this first episode.
dgard-5237412 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Episode one of season two was extremely disappointed with how season one ended I expected more from Truogon even through Deathstroke was confirmed main villain of second season, I thought Trigon would take on more of a behind the scenes kind of villain like Thanos in MCU. Overall this episode was extremely rushed and would've probably work better as Season 1 finale, as the set up for Deathstroke was good but as I said felt rushed.

This episode should be the end of season 1. Its like season 2 haven't started. Background score was good, this episode goes down a bit slow, i think they're setting up everything for something big. Looking forward to Episode 2.....

I love this show. But Ian Glen(n)
wcparry23 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Can't do a neutral American accent to save his life. He has the right attitude he has the right swagger he has the right weight of the world, the right intellect in the right writing and verbiage. He even has the right look if a bit tall. But his accent is fighting to come out and unfortunately like so many other actors from Great Britain that you would never know they are British until you see them in an interview, this guy isn't it. Thank goodness they haven't thrown him in the bat suit, that would be such a huge mistake. I mean have the dude mouth his dialogue and have somebody lip sync it. I don't care, unfortunately he can't be replaced. The show is absolutely amazing oh, it really is and most episodes get a 9 or 10 rating objectively. But definitely not this one, or any others that he plays a more prominent role in.

A very solid start
callumjones-408347 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Rather quick in my opinion with all the Trigon stuff and how Rachel banished him so easily but I love how it's like a house of horrors. A solid tease of Deathstroke, hopefully Bruce appears later in the series in his cape and cowl and I really want a Nightwing suit at some point. Solid start to season 2 and I cannot wait for the rest of it.

So,, this does follow on from the last episode of season 1, but it seems to be a bit stuck in treacle, it is struggling to be interesting. At least we are starting to see a formation of heroes taking place, so fingers crossed for some good storylines ahead.

After a wait for the closing chapter of the last season this was pretty good! This was a good beginning but the only problem was it should've been a finale. It felt rushed but still delivered the best it could have. 8.5 Out Of 10.

Terrible
nolaff15 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This should have been at the end of season 1, but they had to dangle the cliffhanger carrot. Such disrespect for the audience to leave everything unfinished and then quickly wrap it all up in the first 30 minutes of the new season. This isn't 1990, cheap psychological tricks irritate people off more than encourage them to come back. I enjoyed season 1 except for the end, I would have been a return viewer regardless. This tactic just cheapens everything, it's manipulative and crappy.

Look around, most TV shows nowadays have the action finale in the penultimate episode, then wrap things up in the final one, maybe introducing a little intrigue, and highlighting unanswered questions to wet the whistle for the next series.

As for the episode itself...

Failing one - a one dimension bad guy who is evil for evils sake. Failing two - bad guy with no weaknesses or limitations. Failing three - people turn evil even when the people they love plead for them to snap out of it, until the people they love plead for them to snap out of it at the right time. Failing four - characters spend a season demonstrating awesome action skills and immensely destructive super powers then stand around like damp clothes horses during the final encounter. Failing four - family connection hero/villain trope ZZzzzZZzz. Failing five - super overpowered bad guy who demonstrated ability to turn off his daughters magic gets destroyed by said magic because he levelled her up and inexplicably lost his godlike powers to control everyone. Failing six - does she not have a heart now, how is she like breathing and moving around. Failing seven - the CGI used to show the explosion of smoke was ridiculously bad, that's the vanquishing of the season's villain, could they not have dropped a bag of flour from a crane. No miniatures or practical effects, if you're going to rely on CGI at the very minimum it shouldn't break immersion. Why cut corners on the most important spectacle that you've built everything towards? Failing eight - she just destroyed what was effectively Satan without breaking a sweat, what enemy can you possibly introduce for future episodes that is sufficiently powerful that she can't blink them out of existence, but powerless enough so that the other heroes aren't completely redundant against them. Failing nine - stop name dropping Batman and Superman, they're never going to show up in any meaningful way, maybe we'll get a cameo or a bit of a face (but more likely just headless shots a la shazam, or bits of batmans armor sticking out from under things) because the show obviously can't afford the license, so just stop borrowing from their cache, it's pathetic.

Not even going to bother finishing the episode where they'll probably start immediately building up the next even bigger villain with a family connection.

Certainly don't fancy watching another ten hours to be let down all over again. Chance squandered, got better things to get invested in.

As someone who binged it
m-rugen12 April 2021
And didn't have to wait from the end of S1 to the beginning of S2, this episode is great. While simultaneously concluding Trigon's storyline, they start a whole new one to set up the rest of S2. I understand the hate from people who had to wait a year or whatever it was for this episode but damn this episode was great.

A Good Finale to Season 1
acharrell16 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Not sure why this isn't the end of season 1. If you're binging the show from the beginning, treat it like that. Anyway, it's a good episode. People are complaining that Trigon was so easily defeated without explanation, but it does make sense. Trigon have Raven the power to destroy him. He just didn't expect she'd use it on him because she was supposed to be under his control. See? Explained.

Ugh! So lame.
boudybob7 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Everything was developing and suddenly it's thrown a way. Well, i thought that the directors and writers deserve a second chance after the awful job they did in the last season final. It comes very clear now that they think the audience of this show is 15 years old teenagers who will say oh yeah finally Trigon is gone lets have a fresh start and go along with it.

Really! soooo freaking laaame. What am i missing here! Did Rachel become Thanos and just make some magic and voila! No trigon! What about the 11 episodes and half this episode?
