Surprisingly raw

I can't believe the low star rating... I binged this on a 4 hour flight and found it fascinating. And i'm not into tennis or sport in general. It works from a fly on the wall of a celebrity angle, a comeback-kid sports angle and a working mother refinding herself angle (as a mother I guess this appealed the most to me).

It's super real with footage of her breastfeeding, pumping, struggling to lose baby weight and getting her c section wound tended to. There was obviously a conscious decision to go worts and all on motherhood!

But hearing the tough love from her coach on camera is probably the part that surprised me the most in it's honesty. You don't normally get to see two egos jostling like that (what is obviously happening under the surface behind pre/post game press conferences). It's beautifully shot and scored too.

Love that we get to see a little piece of the personal world of this incredible athlete...now mommy and wife. Wish you and your family all the best.

Brilliant

Wow, the documentary is so real! It's so raw. She has shown every facade of her life-what it takes to be a champion but also be a wife and mother. I'm truly inspired as a woman.

Being Serena .... Excellent show. Watched all Episodes at once.

As a woman who experienced a very difficult birth as well as difficult recovery for my baby and myself, it's painful to watch as Serena pushes herself surrounded by her all male coaches who haven't the slightest idea how to help her with her post pregnancy issues.

First of all, the woman is experiencing fear and anxiety. Anxiety all through her pregnancy, wedding (not so much), her baby's birth, and post partum life threatening complications.

She really needed to take time off for herself for about a year at least.

The hormonal adjustments her body was experiencing along with trauma made me feel for her as only another woman can who has experienced this.

She had some of the best coaches, but I think she could have been helped more by getting therapy to control her anxiety and fears. Being in a constant state of I'll ease releases cortisol. Her body was working against her will.

To top it off, posing to her as one coach did that 'she wasn't trying hard enough' made me want to jump into the screen and beat that guy up.

I admire her courage, her will. There was no way other than to let her rest for her to recover.

It's just sad she couldn't do that.

Serena is still my hero and will always be an encouragement in my getting my own health back.
