Cheap movie and it shows
bosporan10 May 2022
A cluster muddle of stereotype characters locked in a cliché hostage negotiation with dreadful dialogue and a massively intrusive soundtrack. Other than that it is not too bad!

This is a vapid vanity project written, directed and produced by Massimiliano Cerchi, never seen anything from him before and hope not to in the future. Nobody emerges with glory from what is without doubt the worst movie I have had the misfortune to endure this year.

Even other Razzie Award nominees would be laughing and cringing.
Top_Dawg_Critic12 May 2022
THIS was directed by experienced director Massimiliano Cerchi, who also wrote it along with another experienced writer? A 5th grader could write and direct this better. We did watch the entire film, because we changed our attitude that we were watching a comedy, and the beers and bongs eased the pain of what we were put through.

There is absolutely nothing redeeming about this mess, with the only exception being Michael Wainwright as McMasters, who's performance was Oscar-worthy - compared to the others, including Pare, who seemed asleep for the most part. I'm sure most of the poor acting blame goes to Cerchi, who clearly offered zero cast direction. Scott Engrotti as Snake was decent, but everyone else was unconvincing, especially the female FBI officer, and Bai Ling, who I couldn't understand anything she was saying over her constant yelling and screaming, and who was just annoying af.

The writing was also by far the worst I have seen, riddled with plot and technical issues, incohesive and total nonsense, especially each time the plot changed from scene to scene. There was zero credibility in how the FBI handled the entire situation, and eating and drinking coffee seemed more important and abundant. The best part of the film was the ten-second dream Bai Ling had. The rest of it was slow, boring and cringeworthy. The editing was the worst I have ever seen, the sound and score typical B-film unfitting and annoying.

I don't know who funded and greenlight Cerchi's final cut and said "awesome, let's go to market", but they all need to take up a new hobby. This mess makes all the recent Bruce Willis flops seem like Oscar-worthy films. Yup, it's THAT bad. And even worse that an experienced director and writer gave us this nonsense. It's a very generous 3/10, mostly all going to Wainwright's amazing (compared to the rest) performance.

Made for Fifty bucks in lockdown. What do you expect?
stevelivesey6712 May 2022
Should have been a 1, but because it was made for fifty bucks I got generous.

Terrible acting, direction, editing, lighting, etc.

The Bai Ling action scenes are a in particular laughably bad.

Uhm, yeah okay, generic to the core...
paul_haakonsen10 May 2022
As I sat down to watch the 2022 action drama "Lockdown" from writers Massimiliano Cerchi and Rod Smith, then I can't really claim that I was expecting a whole lot. Why? Well, first of all, I hadn't even heard about the movie, and secondly it wasn't exactly top billing on the cast list.

But still, I opted to watch "Lockdown" on the notion of it being a new movie that I hadn't already seen, and who knew, maybe I would be pleasantly surprised with the movie?

Well, I wasn't pleasantly surprised with director Massimiliano Cerchi's movie. Sure, it was watchable, but that was about all that "Lockdown" had going on. The storyline was pretty simplistic, perhaps a bit too simplistic actually, because the movie quickly settled into monotonous droning pace and never got out of that particular ditch. And the storyline suffered from being generic and predictable.

The acting performances in "Lockdown" were adequate for a movie such as this. However, I have to say that Bai Ling's performance was just all over the place here, and she was initially one of the reasons for why I actually picked up the movie to begin with.

"Lockdown" is a movie that you will watch once and never return to a second time. I managed to sit through the entire movie, but I wasn't particularly impressed or overly entertained. If you enjoy crime thrillers then there are far better and more enjoyable and entertaining movies out there.

My rating of "Lockdown" lands on a generous three out of ten stars.

There's Bad and then There's BAD
zorroaca10 May 2022
It took me a while to make sure that it wasn't bad on purpose. You spend more time wondering how a film like this could be made... who spent money on it... and why? Obviously folks who like a lot of cheap violence. And on top of all of this... the lightning is horrible.

Another cheap post-pandemic movie (or not, remember that we are now facing the monkey virus)
Victor-8765526 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Another cheap post-pandemic movie (or not, remember that we are now facing the monkey virus) Embarrassing: A movie shot in two rooms that could risk claiming they were adjoining the same building.. There is no SWAT nor is the police station surrounded by hundreds of police officers, a cliche that we are used to seeing in almost all films of this type. It is truly inconceivable that movies are still being shot in this way, with minimal expense and a total lack of cinematic sense. And as if all this were not enough, a officer "García" that nobody knows, that he would not be important, but he would be a lousy actor. They didn't even take care of the phones of the last century for a 2022 movie. They tried to give it some suspense and action (?) with a very crazy madman, a maniac also crazy, and at last a third maniac criminal and crazy but "good person". I recommend that you don't waste your time with these offensive grotesques with movie pretensions.

When highschool kids take up filmmaking
deusdat14 August 2022
Perfectly stupid. The script is childish, dialogues are apparently written by a non native english speaker who believes a generous use of the f-word adds athenticity. And what is Paré doing among these obviously amateur actors? He might not be a star but still, he is (or was) a professional. Old age is unforgiving, huh?

Simply Dreadful
rodney_h21 May 2022
Oh dear God, I had never heard of Massimiliano Cerchi who is credited with being both (co)writer and director of this dreadful dreck or seen any of his other work and I sure hope never to again. He must have been without sleep for several days and nights and high on mind-altering illegal substances to pound out such pitiful garbage. I honestly believe an average middle school drama class could write, direct and perform a much higher quality film than this. The dialog was not only unbelievable but simply ridiculous. The lighting in many scenes was poor. The so-called "actors" and "actresses" in this lousy production better have day jobs or they're going to starve. Try as I might, I simply cannot find one redeeming quality in this entire 89 minute pukefest.

I know it makes for better drama...
sahlgoode10 May 2022
.....but whatever meds McMasters needs would be sent to, and administered at whatever facility he was housed in. The whole movie is based on his paranoid schizophrenia, so why not set the stage at the only police station that doesn't follow the medication procedure.

Michael Paré hasn't made anything worthwhile since his "Eddy and the Cruisers" days, but some efforts are better than others, and considering this script is so full of holes, he isn't horrible in this.

This movie isn't a ten, but it ain't no one either.

KNOCK OUT THRILLER INDEED!
happyfella16 May 2022
Ignore all the other negative reviews. This film rocks! Lockdown is a high octane and intense thriller from Genre kingpin Massimiliano Cerchi . When a dangerous trio of killers escape from prison and take hostages mayhem erupts ensues. As the convicts make their demands and threaten the lives of their hostages the body count rises and their insane leader spirals into madness. You can cut the tension in this film with a knife. It's part Desperate hours meets Dog Day afternoon and It's filled with great performances.

From the Sexy Bai Ling. A hooker out for Vengeance. The always great Michael Pare as special agent Kinkaid and a rather spooky performance by Michael wainwright as McMaster's, a hair trigger psycho who needs his meds fast! On top of it theirs a great supporting cast as well. It's amazingly well directed a real knock out indeed! Taut and suspenseful, if you want to watch a nail biting ultra-tense thriller with an edge. See Lock down. It's a knockout!

Freakin Awesome
syed-ali-ehsan11 May 2022
It's like a B movie from the 90s. I couldn't stop smiling while I watched it. It's like Samurai Cop. The punch sound effects are very funny as well. Might well become a cult hit. Super mediocre acting, but it's still professional. Made in two rooms. The female lead is incomprehensible. The dialogue and script is wow.
