Macchio and Zabka Are the Main Reasons to Watch
Better_TV12 May 2018
There's some really fun entertainment to be had with this one: a good amount of crude comedy (lots of d**k jokes) is paired with some great work by William Zabka and Ralph Macchio.

The younger actors aren't bad either, though their performances are pretty rote: Tanner Buchanan as Johnny Lawrence's angry delinquent son reminded me of the similarly angsty Steven Strait as a pyrokinetic teen in the corny but lovable 2005 Disney superhero comedy "Sky High," and Mary Mouser as Daniel Russo's daughter is increasingly likable as she stands up to the school jerks she once called friends.

And while there's a funny rivalry between Daniel and another car dealership magnate, played by David Shatraw, Johnny's subplot with his estranged kid (and the kid's mom, played by Diora Baird) is both clichéd and depressing.

This is fluffy stuff, and it's ribald and foul-mouthed - definitely not for young kids - but it's about as good a continuance of the "Karate Kid" franchise as you could expect.

Low point for Cobra Kai
mm-395 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Well Cobra Kai is at a low point in the series. The bullies are winning. John Lawrence feels guilty for the his students beating. Russo has suspicions of his daughter boy friend, which plays into the boyfriends evil plans. Lawrence regress back into the broken man he is. The metamorphism of a new Cobra Kai is happening with each bully attack is creating a group of people that want to Strike first, strike hard, with no mercy. Lawrence protege creates a web page for the need of Cobra Kai. The second student of Cobra Kai is a gal, savagely bullied, which shows her worth, which is a turning point that Cobra Kai is for the outcasts. The protege Lawrence is ready to quit, and continues the feud with Russo with a new bad movie move. Lawrence's student pushes him Lawrence back to the light. Don't quite the bullied need you is Cobra Kai never dies message. Lawrence blames himself for the boys beating, and decide to push the protege harder, and become more prepared. A well written theme, where there is not just good and evil, but complex characters both good and bad. Lawrence son is introduced as a new bad character, smart but full of anger and spite. 7 out of 10 stars.

Start in the middle

A good storyline on Johnny's side, giving insight into his relationship with his wife and son. The LaRusso storyline was funny, but a bit forced.

Nostalgic to the core

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was full of nostalgia. Danny visiting Mr. Miyagi's grave was a tear-jerker moment for me. The rivalry continues between Danny and Jonny.

Cobra Kai Never Dies
Prismark1026 April 2019
The funniest thing was a drunk Johnny drawing a male appendage on the billboard with Daniel's face. It throws Daniel off kilter and loses it with another rival car dealer, he even does a roundhouse kick knocking a cup of bubble tea.

Johnny meanwhile needs to deal with Miguel's mother for the injuries he has suffered with the beating he received from Kyler. He also needs to deal with his son Robbie, who has gone off the rails and is not attending school.

Robbie seems to have not much parental influence. Mother seems to be a floozie and Johnny now wants to be a father.

Both Johnny and Daniel have downers in this episode. The trouble is Johnny hits the booze when things do not go right for him.

The series does well in its portrayal of high school bullies. They are a throwback to the 1980s but now with access to social media. Samantha LaRusso finds out just what a jerk Kyler is.

Sometimes is way too false... improbable...
gianluca-meardi25 September 2022
I enjoyed so much this series, but now is becoming way too forced, too false... Any occasion is an "impossible" reason to litigate, to fight... More of a comedy for kids... Our main protagonists, from Daniel La Russo, to Miguel, to anyone is incapable to manage own emotions and avoid a fight. Any little impossible fact is a reason to fight...

Nice story, nice characters, funny... ok funny, but must not exaggerate too much to find any possible way to question, to raise the voice, raise the hands, initiate an improbable combat...

I hope it will go back improving in the next episodes... more realistic...

Crossing fingers...
