Adam Sandler has set a new comedy special at Netflix — this time directed by Josh Safdie.
The project continues Sandler’s string of collaborations with Safie, who co-directed him in 2019’s “Uncut Gems” alongside his brother Benny Safdie. Sandler also starred in the brothers’ 2020 short film “Goldman v. Silverman” and is set to lead an upcoming feature set in the world of sports memorabilia to be directed by Josh and produced by Benny, though the latter told Variety in January that the film was “on pause.”
Currently untitled, the special will be Sandler’s second at Netflix, following up on his 2018 set “100% Fresh” — which went on to receive a 90% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes. Sandler has worked on numerous projects for Netflix: In 2023, he led the voice cast of the streamer’s animated musical comedy film “Leo” and starred opposite Idina Menzel in “You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah,...

The Duggar family’s squeaky-clean image has been decimated in the last 10 years. Sexual abuse allegations, coupled with ties to a controversial Christian ministry and, finally, a child pornography arrest, have ensured they’ll never get another reality TV series. The last several years have exposed the family’s troubled dynamic. It’s not the first hint of trouble, though. Duggar Family followers have been blowing the whistle for years over more minor parenting mishaps. We’ve collected four of the Duggar family’s parenting fails, aside from sexual abuse, that have troubled family followers.
Jill Dillard was reprimanded for a Duggar family parenting hack
Jill Dillard has largely separated from the Duggar family. She even appeared on Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets to denounce the Institute of Basic Life Principles. Despite her attempt to distance herself from the more toxic aspects of her upbringing, some Duggar family parenting fails have survived.

Plot: Owen Browning is a straight-laced bank manager about to marry the love of his life, Parker. When his bank is held up by the infamous Ghost Bandits during his wedding week, he believes his future in-laws who just arrived in town, are the infamous Out-Laws.
Review: There are few winners in this late phase of the Streaming Wars as accomplished as Adam Sandler. The former SNL funnyman went from box office superstar to a lucrative contract with Netflix, resulting in dozens of mediocre movies and very few good ones. Even when not starring in the films, Happy Madison Productions has released films of a similar ilk which are funny enough for ambient viewing but not nearly good enough for the big screen. The latest Happy Madison movie, The Out-Laws, starring Adam Devine as an average guy whose future in-laws are notorious bank robbers played by Pierce Brosnan and Ellen Barkin.

Once in a while, there comes a film that is a breath of fresh air, not because it’s persistently original, but because it knows what it wants to be and it doesn’t weigh itself down with unnecessary paraphernalia. John Swab’s refreshing action comedy “One Day As A Lion” is one such film that is distinctly content with itself, and it’s the film’s self-awareness that gets to you when you’re done with it. As sweet with its surprisingly raw and rather subtle sentimentality as it is funny with the situational humor that never risks overplaying its hand, “One Day As A Lion,” in its entire duration, doesn’t falter with its disposition.
Spoilers Ahead
Plot Synopsis: What Happens In ‘One Day As A Lion’?
Jackie is just about the worst thug Dom could hire to make a guy pay for the money he owes. And...

Adam Sandler might be Netflix’s biggest drawing card, with his star vehicles always guaranteed to pull in huge numbers and crack the Top 10 most-watched list whether they’re brand new or two decades old, but the streaming service signed a deal with Happy Madison Productions and not the actor himself, meaning Sandler also gets to put his producing hat on and give some of his buddies their share of the spotlight.
This is hardly a new development, though, and ever since Happy Madison was founded in 1999, the company has churned out a series of movies featuring the Big Daddy star’s regular troupe of frequent collaborators. That includes the Paul Blart duology and Here Comes the Boom with Kevin James, Rob Schneider’s Deuce Bigalow, The Animal and The Hot Chick, and, of course, one of the worst comedies in the history of cinema, otherwise known as Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star.

Rachel Sennott (Shiva Baby), Joey Bragg (Father of the Year), Emma Caymares (Fosse/Verdon) and Austin Crute (Daybreak) are set as series regulars opposite Kyra Sedgwick in My Village, ABC’s multi-camera comedy pilot from The New Adventures of Old Christine creator Kari Lizer, Sony Pictures TV and ABC Studios. Veteran multi-camera comedy director Pam Fryman has been tapped to direct the pilot.
Written and executive produced by Lizer, My Village revolves around an empty-nester mom, Jean Raines (Sedgwick), who wonders how she ended up alone while her children live their best lives thousands of miles away. She decides her place is with her family and as she reinserts herself into their lives, her kids realize they might actually need her more than they thought.
Sennott will play Jackie, Jean’s oldest child. She’s bright, wry and sarcastic, using her wit in place of emotions. She keeps her feelings buttoned up.

To really delve into Father of the Year would be both a waste of your time and mine. Netflix exclusives are elusive and baffling at best. Seemingly dropping down from the cinematic gods themselves onto our TV screens with little to no fanfare or anticipation. We are far beyond the realm of hit and miss, more so in the age of a constant state of bizarre. The dumping ground of studio productions has only hailed one or two inspiring pieces of cinema, most notably in Alex Garland’s Annihilation, but with each positive success, a Cloverfield: Paradox waits in the winds to pounce upon significant interest with disastrous outcomes. Its the nucleus of Netflix produced content that worries the most.

In Netflix’s “Father of the Year,” audiences get to see David Spade’s entire backside, and he said that while he’s not in bad shape, he got some nasty reviews about his rear.
“I’m not in that bad of a shape, I lost some weight,” Spade told Howard Stern on Wednesday. “I get a couple bad Yelp reviews on my a– but overall, it’s not too bad.”
While Spade reveals his “whole ass” in the movie, as Stern says, that’s where he draws the line. The actor told Stern that he would never do full frontal nudity in a film.

Netflix has released a trailer for the upcoming original comedy called Father of the Year which stars David Spade. It seems like it's been a while since we've seen him star in a movie, but this one, which was produced by Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions, looks like it could be funny. There were a couple moments in this trailer that made me laugh. Here's the synopsis:
When a drunken debate between two recent college graduates about whose father would win in a fight is taken seriously by their idiot dads, jobs are lost, relationships ruined, futures destroyed, and best friends come of age as they come to grips with who their fathers really are.
The film also stars Nat Faxon (Tammy), Joey Bragg (Liv and Maddie), Matt Shively (The Real O’Neals), and Bridgit Mendler (Nashville).
Father of the Year hits Netflix on July 20th.

"Some people say I'm unstable, and I snap." Netflix has debuted the trailer for a comedy titled Father of the Year, one of the latest cringe-worthy Happy Madison productions from Adam Sandler's deal with the streaming studio. Surprise surprise, this one looks just as bad. Father of the Year is about two fathers who get into an epic fight of sorts after their college graduate sons challenge them to a showdown. David Spade and Nat Faxon star as the dads, Joey Bragg and Matt Shively star as their kids, and the also includes Bridgit Mendler, Bill Kottkamp, Dean Winters, and Kevin Nealon. This really looks terrible. If you want to watch a better fight movie, Fist Fight is a good choice. And if you want to watch a much better film about a father, Bobcat Goldthwait's World's Greatest Dad is an underrated gem. Just skip this and move on.

When you were 5 years old and goofing off with your friends on the playground, without a doubt, one of the conversations you had was whose father would win in a fight. Naturally, you rooted for your own dad, thinking he was some invincible superhero. Well, Adam Sandler and Netflix thought that was a great premise for a film, and is poised to release “Father of the Year.”
As we described above, the premise for this latest product of the Happy Madison/Netflix relationship is pretty clear – two college graduates are betting on which one’s father would kick the shit out of the other.
