Scary Octavia
Anonnamus26 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Whew! Octavia has consistently been one of my favorite characters throughout the series, and discovering her dark side hasn't changed my opinion. Those six years have turned her into a maniacal power-hungry monarch and it looks like she will stop at nothing to keep that power. Madi is young and easily pliable, and I fear (as does Clarke) that she will get hurt in the process, both emotionally and physically. At this point I don't think even a child is off-limits to Octavia's wrath.

Indra is my favorite adult character and I fear that Octavia will tire of her dissent and put her in the pit, citing treason or some other crime she believes Indra has committed. I fear even more that Gaia's open defense of Madi will put her there, too. The way this show is going, I wouldn't doubt they'd have to fight each other. Indra would never kill her daughter, so I'm afraid I'm seeing the last episodes with Indra. I pray that isn't true because that's not something I can ever forgive O for.

Echo showed a little bit of her former self in this episode by betraying an ally just to save her own skin. She had valid reasons but I still hated the way that went down. I hope Shaw forgives Raven. I see a romantic relationship in their future before Shaw is killed, because I have never seen a character with a bigger target on his head than Shaw.

Abby has been up and down for me over the years, but I am completely over the drug addiction. Kane has turned into some weird guru/advisor person and I wouldn't be surprised to see him break out a mat in the middle of Shadow Valley and teach the residents to meditate their illnesses away.

Speaking of drugs, I firmly believe the writers get 80% of their names by changing a letter or two of prescription medication. Praimfaya, Eligius...just saying. Nothing wrong with that.

This was a pretty decent episode. I am not convinced this is one of the better seasons yet, but that has the potential to change. I'm a little over the "save the human race, we are the last of our kind" but humans keep showing up from random places. What's next? The Arkers are going to go back to space and cryosleep to the future when the earth is habitable because they're going to destroy Shadow Valley with their war? I think that would be a cool storyline. I mean, they seem to get to space and back super easily so why not have another season set in space? As long as Kara Cooper isn't there. She's the one person on the ground I would like to see meet a terrible end. Can't wait to see what the rest of the season brings!

Which side are you on?

Echo tries to follow through with her plan. Clarke and Monty make a terrifying discovery. Octavia schemes against Shadow Valley.

This was yet again a very good episode, showing even more character development than before. I really like all the new character interactions. But I am very conflicted about who I want to root for. Every single person has a valid point in this war. No one is entirely good or bad. (Except McCreary, but, you know, still hope for character development...) And that is exactly why I love this season so much. Every loss would hurt. Every victory would be bittersweet.

I can not wait how this continues. And thank GOODNESS that we finally get another episode next week, not two weeks later.

Complexity Warning: Spoilers
What a solid episode! Some have already commented saying that season 5 is the best so far. I have to admit that it is refreshing. Somehow the showrunners have been able to take each season and make it unique in it's own way. With that said, the entire dynamic of the grounder clans was getting old. With Praimfaya, all of that was changed. This episode is a good example of that change.

Octavia has officially gone off the deep end. Experimenting on those who have defected (knowing that she is killing people). When challenged by Bellamy and Clark concerning her horrifying plans (plans that would probably kill their friends as well as the enemy), she justifies her actions with "acceptable losses." That's all people have become to her. Unlike Clarke who agonized over every decision she's made, unlike Bellamy who has shown genuine regret for his despicable actions, Octavia shows total disregard and cold detachment. She even is alienating Indra. I'm sorry to say, but I agree with Clarke that they have to take her down. I hope they can do this without killing her (there's a part of me that wants to see Octavia find that humanity and compassion we all have seen inside of her). It's sad that such a noble idea as "one crew" has turned into a tyrannical cult. Whereas in Die All she was at the peak of her idealism, now I have little doubt she would slit Madi's throat if she ever was deemed a threat to her rule.

The complexity of this show comes in it's unwillingness to create one dimensional villains. I actually found myself asking who the good and bad guys are this episode. Octavia and Woncru or the Prisoners? That we can get such a clear picture of a commander like Charmaine, who is reasonable and calculating, is interesting. Her care for human life has come out here and there, even when she has made some brutal decisions. But make no mistake, she is a formidable foe. Not because she's waving a gun around at anyone who questions her, but because she offers her valuable enemies Scotch and takes good advice.

Monty has a good arc this week. His moralizing about war and how there never seems to be an end to the cycle reminds me of Finn in season one. The desire for peace was once at the forefront of their minds. Perhaps it took 6 years without a threat to rediscover that desire. The words of Jasper and conscience of Monty may indeed end a war before it starts and that might even make Jasper's death meaningful.

Kane and Abby's dillema is one of the few things I didn't find very compelling. Sure she is addicted to pills, but for some reason it doesn't carry much weight for me. I've never found Abby to be very interesting since season one. She has felt like she existed to care about Clarke's well-being and little else.

Echo and Raven's storyline was interesting somewhat, though I think it will get more interesting in the coming weeks. I know it was meant to stretch their relationship, but I haven't really felt that relationship was earned just yet. All we saw of it was a few minutes in the first episode of this season.

In conclusion, the 100 continues to prove itself to be one of the most complex and interesting shows I've ever seen. I look forward to what comes next. What will it be like to see Bellamy turn against his own sister? Or will he? Time will tell.

Solid episode

Warning: Spoilers
Don't know what to say about this episode, a lot of stuff happened and Octavia going even darker. Octavia's character is so dark now that it's make you feel like she will die soon. Dumb kid madi doesn't learn and goes against Clarke again, she is still cute due.

Another episode that echo is good in, I feel like a lot of people will dislike what she did but she did her job. Clarke are never wrong, and nobody knows what's going on with Bellamy. My favorite character this episode was raven for sure.

A very good episode
liwaak22 June 2018
This episode was a good episode because it had a lot of action and I don't like when Clarke is angry because she dose stupid things. Another solid episode for echo even if she did hurt raven but she did her job.

Okay... blodreina vs wanheda is now a thing. The next few episodes are going to be amazing. The tension between these 2 characters is going to lead some of the shows best moments and episodes and I cannot wait! Season 5 is easily the best season so far. Every episode has been so good and some of the best rated episodes in the whole series according to imbd ratings.

Another 10/10 episode!!!

Warning: Spoilers
Honestly Clarke drives me mad around this point because she only cares about Madi and is like screw everybody else and doesn't think about her actions anymore, she just doesn't seem like the same smart Clarke from earlier. War can be fought for any number of reasons like land. Maybe if Octavia tries to talk to Diyoza and negotiate to share the valley together, then they wouldn't need to fight at all. Diyoza can be reasoned with if Octavia swallows her pride and talk to her. My baby Octavia is so broken, of course I do not agree with some decisions, but in this show everyone did it, now I think it's her turn haha . No one could stand what she endured in these 6 years. The actress who portrays Diyoza didn't find out she was pregnant until right after she got the part, so the writers decided to add that to the story this Season, and she did some of her own stunts while pregnant. Can't run from who you are, it's pointless, especially when Octavia, and others can read Clarke's face from a mile away, protecting Madi from nothing for 6yrs was an easy job, and truth is without Madi, she'd be dead.
