Conflation, Confusion and Racism
seriousbeasness25 December 2023
This film has a reasonable and admittedly noble premise, putting a spotlight to the very real issue of artistic expression and censorship in authoritarian regimes. Unfortunately, the waters are immediately muddied by blatantly racist caricatures (Particularly egregiously, the African stereotype with lips the size of a pool floatie and skin the color of a charcoal briquette) and putting things like Judaism, Feminism, and.. being a Hells Angel(?) On the same level as literal Hitler. Censorship of political dissidents is a serioius issue in dictatorships and oppressive regimes around the world. The proper way to deal with it is up for debate and any speculation from me in that regard is far beyond my sphere of knowledge, but I do know this. Lumping in people you don't like with actual perpetrators of atrocities, past and present, and mocking those perpetrators, not for their crimes or insecurities, but instead for their race, is not the way to do it.

a jury. the executioner. the caricaturists
Kirpianuscus20 December 2023
Well crafted satire against censorship, charming for the feeling of visual joke , for the members of jury, for remind of persecution of free expression right and for the absence of humor in totalitarian / autoritarian regimes.

A chain of. Caricaturists present their work. One of member of jury can be offesed and the executioner gives the death to the poor artist. One exception because the subject of work is too...tied.

And the fantastic succes of the last presumed victim. But a mask can be source of huge unluck.

Pleasant,, irreverent and clever work. And smart warning about free expression.
