Missions is French sci fi drama with each episode being only 25 minutes long, giving it plenty of space for cliffhangers.
The first episode opens in 1967 as a Russian cosmonaut trying to control an old Soyuz craft as it plummets through the Earth's atmosphere.
We go forward 50 years with a psychological experiment on some kids whether they eat some marshmallow now or save it till later. The female psychologist conducting the experiments at the last minute is drafted to a space race to Mars.
Two billionaires aim to set foot in Mars, the American mission slams down on the Red Planet first. We follow the French crew backed by a Swiss billionaire. Unfortunately they are definitely in need of a shrink as they are going to pieces. It is a wonder they even made out of the training capsule never mind actually fly in space.
The drama is low fi when it comes to budget but the effects look pretty good but it is hard to get a handle on any of the characters going by the first episode.
