Fallett is a hoot

This show just popped up on Netflix as a mini-series. No need to write a lengthy treatise about it-it is laugh out loud funny. Every standard device in a Brit or Nordic murder mystery is lampooned whilst we watch 2 misfits try to solve the murder of a Brit national in Sweden. We meet Adam Godley playing DCI Tom Brown as he interrogates a round table of upper crust Brits in a mansion-only problem is: he don't know nuttin. His meandering line of questioning gets him booted from the case, as his assistant takes over. Tom gets sent to faraway Sweden where he has imaginary chats with his elderly mom and reads glowing accounts of how his replacement cleared up 3 of his unsolved cases in a few hours. Inspector Morse he ain't.

Pretty Lisa Henri plays Detective Borg, who is partnered with Brown. She is a misfit, in the doghouse for shooting a fleeing suspect in the head (she was aiming for his leg). With these 2 investigating a brutal murder, the perpetrator should rest easy. After all, they are backed by a fake cop, a Supervisor who has never solved a case, and the cliché Forensic pathologist in white uniform (who later begins to conduct a post-Mortem on a guy who isn't dead at all, just hung over).

After Borg shoots an innocent guy in the shoulder at a play rehearsal (don't ask), things do not look good for our would-be pair of sleuths, except that they seem to be inching closer to the culprit accidentally. Put your tongue firmly in cheek & enjoy.

Funny, funny,funny.

Fallet is an enjoyable surprise. I was expecting a Wallander-like, dark, depressing Swedish noir but what I found is a great spoof on Swedish and British police procedural with some Scandinavian PC thrown in. Pray for a second season.

The crime baseline is plausible and casting is solid. It's a refreshing contrast to it's darker counterpoint.

Crime satire

*** ***,2 Well.. this was a 'have to happen'. You take 10 years of famed Nordic crime and detective series from Forbrydelsen to Martin Beck, mix it with British gentleman detective tradition From Holmes to Shoestring, and make crazy satire out of the stew. I would not be at all surprised, if some of the later episodes, also take 'the Micky' on the slow Icelandic crime tradition, where everything... And i mean e v e r y thing, is portrayed in painstaking details. We got it all A Saga like loose gun, ..Swaters, mysterious signs, in blood (ofcause). Horrible murder scenes, where nothing is too graphic, all in the Nordic tradition, and the a pinch of British 'who-done-it' in the highest social layers. Mr Morse says 'helllo', but in a Monty-phythonish style. So the stew has all the ingredients, how does it taste? Its OK. Not Splendid by far. In fact often you will catch yourself thinking, OHH why didn't they do *this* instead of *that*, because -If you have a reasonable well tuned funny-bone, YOU will often have a better punchline :) Comparable to "Scary Movie", but not aimed at teens I agree with the score of 6+ The current value is 6.1. I don't think it should go higher than 6.3. This is based on the first 2 episodes. Pastiche/ Satire thingies has a nasty way of loosing steam, so later episodes may not be that entertaining. 6.2 for the two first episodes.

Something is missing to achieve what they want, to be funny.

I watched passed episode 2 as it was only 8 episodes of less than 30 min each. Few hilarious moments but too many dull moments. Trying to be a satire of dark Scandinavian movie especially The Bridge, but why when it's trying so hard to be funny. 4 episodes or less would have been sufficient.

Must watch

If you love a good spoof this is a must-watch. Goofy and very, very funny. As silly as this show is, it is intelligent humor and anyone with half a brain and sense of humor will find themselves laughing out loud. Casting is perfect and 'Bill' will steal your heart.

Nice idea that just falls short

First and foremost this sets out to be a comedy. Coming from the UK I hate Morse, Mid summer etc. For some reason they are popular in Europe. But I do like my Nordic Noir. So to see both of those styles of programs put together in a comedy format works well to a point.

Unfortunately with the show where it doesn't quite work it has the feel of a Long sketch and the gags dry up after about the third episode. Having said that there is plenty to enjoy in this series in particular the Swedish Detective Sophie and the British detective played by Alan Godley. What do you get is half Midsummer murders and half the bridge with a few gags thrown in. Worth a watch if you can't find anything else to do. 6 out of 10.

It's like a comedy version of The Bridge or The Killing but still has a proper storyline and I watched it in one sitting as each of the 8 episodes is only 30 minutes. The acting by Adam Godley and Lisa Hanni makes the most of a very good script. I really think you should see it !!

It just about works

This spoof of The Killing and The Bridge (along with a few other references) is good in parts. There are some funny moments, but there aren't enough of them for so many episodes. We get the basic joke in episode one. With satire, less is more. It should have been nore more than half the length. Also, bringing in an English policeman is out of place in Scandi Noir. The references to Midsomer Murders and Inspector Morse are dull, Adam Godley fails to evoke those detectives anyway and is boring in the part. The Bill Wall character is an unfunny flop, too. It's a bit cheap: the scenes in St Ives are all too obviously filmed in Sweden and the car is left-hand drive.

Not funny. All characters seem to have an iq of 35. What did they try to do? A swedish Pink Panther? Didn't like any of the characters, they're all, like I said, very annoying

Like for many, this just popped up on Netflix and I was expecting a dark, gritty, Nordic Noir, of which I am a fan.

This series brilliantly parodies the above genre, but like all good spoofs, it does it with soul, it does it with a genuine love of the subject.

If you liked Rake, this is also a bit of fun and slapstick

After a day of hearing political/economic news here in the US, I always look for light entertainment to relax. I loved Rake and last night I stumbled on Fallet. I actually thought maybe a new Wallender but then caught a few of the jokes and thought...wow, this is even better. Some of the humor is subtle and other lines and action just plain silly. A fresh breeze of comic relief you won't regret watching.

Funny and highly watchable

Didn't have anything better to watch so just decided to start this series and stop if I get bored or didn't find it to my liking. Once I started, I went through all the episodes in one sitting. The series plays out like a spoof of the dark Nordic crime thrillers which have brcome quite popular. The two lead characters are bumbling detectives who were forced to team up to solve a serial killer case to save their careers. They were slightly absurd but still believable. After a while, you'll find yourself rooting for them. While I found the ending to be predictable, it's still a fun ride. Worth a watch.

Great satire of over the top policing

If you can believe our FBI had its hands on Orlando, Boston bombers, Parkland shooter and many others and let them walk, then how do other agencies around the globe do any better or worse? Great satire and an interesting story with a mixed force of English and Swedish police assigned to an off the beaten path murder. For those who enjoy crime stories this one is very fun to watch as there is unexpected chaos and humor. I hope they have a Season 2.

Very weak comedy thriler

Not worth watching. I felt a bit sorry for the actors. It's silly stupid rather than silly funny. Either the producers intended it it as entertainment for people of low IQs or they have a low IQ them selves. Cringe-worthy.

This series is: silly, irreverent, laugh out loud funny, and surprisingly, a very good mystery. I was totally surprised with it. The actors and the characters are perfect. The little cliche shots that Sweden and Britain use all the time are perfect. The small asides are perfect. The people who put this together need to do more. I'd love to see several more years of it. Hence, the title of my review; Please Give Us More!

Kind of parody

Either is a parody or a lack of new ideas. Let me start with the music. In my ears sounds like Sherlock's music. The beginning of the first episode was prety simillar to the "Bron/Broen" (the bridge), with a guy in the exact middle of four countries. The female detective (Lisa Henni) was identical to the Bron's female detective Sofia Helin. Exactly the same character. Although the chief inspector (in nobraska, can't remember the city's name) reminds me some character but i can't say who tho. If you exclude all the above was a funny and kind of mystery series.

I actually howled in each episode. The entire ensemble were PERFECT!. It saddens me that there aren't any more seasons. To take you away from the craziness of this world - right now. Take sometime and watch this gem. You will thank me! PLEASE bring it back!

Captivating series

A short one season murder mystery series. One main character is British and the other Swedish. The British guy is played as a bit of a bumbling fool who is cast out due to poor performance. The unlikely duo link up to solve a murder and in so doing untangle the mess that are their personal lives. Enjoyable, but the switching between English and Swedish can be hard to keep up with as a non Swedish speaker (forgetting to check the subtitles)

A solid tv show, captivating and well developed. The dual language was interesting and worked for this show. Held interest through each episode and the characters developed nicely.

Prefect amount of seriousness, fun, and episodes

The characters are ridiculous but unlike other shows they exist in a reality that isn't ridiculous so the characters know they need to shape up and they are not allowed to get away with their flaws.

Well the two main leads do at least. It reminds me of the one time early in my career I got sent to "Interpersonal Training" and full of self-righteousness and indignation I thought that the training wasn't going to change me but the trainer, the other forced participants, and content were so ridiculous that I walked away not wanting to be associated with any of those trainwrecks. Like the two main leads, I did not become prefect but at the cost of loosing my job I made sure I was better than the other more ridiculous humans involved and realized that I needed to. I don't think I would have watched another season. The premise had no legs and the more ridiculous characters would have become too much. However, for a short and sweet one season everything in a neat little bow (no matter how convoluted), a one-case run was good.

When you think about having a belly laugh, you don't usually think of Sweden! But boy the ensemble and their timing is HILARIOUS! Sad to hear there was just 1 season!

Neither profound nor smooth - but with multiple giggling moments

With not too many exaggerations (well...:)) But the criminal case is real, I did not figure out the wrongdoer and the motives behind, and the cast includes many gems not seen/noticed by me before (well, from the Swedish side, Adam Godley is well-known).

The episodes are short (less than 30 minutes), you just watch and let yourself carried away into the world of human weaknesses, small-place peculiarities, shadows from the past, etc. where odd personas with personal issues try to find solutions and make themselves visible in their own and often clumsy way. Sometimes the chemistry is pleasurable, and then some remark or appearance makes you shake your head - wtf! was this that I just saw?!

Recommended - unless you think that crime should be depicted in real dramas only.
