If this series has a villain...
srw-2912919 April 2022
...it's Judith.

Cheats on her husband with a priest, then with her father-in-law. Willingly becomes her father-in-law's mistress while her husband has to just accept it. Distinctly favours the son she had from the priest and ignores her other son, then makes that other son decline the crown so that her favourite can rule instead.

And then yeah.

Obviously most of the characters are terrible people but Judith has just been unexpectedly cruel.

Surprising Conclusion
claudio_carvalho17 January 2019
In Kattegat, Ivar learns that Harald was defeated in Wessex and plots to navigate with his army to loot the Saxons. Harald arrives at York, introduces Magnus and fight a group of rebels. Hvitserk learns Buddha´s teachings from an Asian slave. Lagherta is missing and King Alfred keeps his word giving lands to Ubbe and Torvi; however, Bjorn decides to leave Wessex with Gunnhild to team up Harald to overthrow Ivar from Kattegat. In Iceland, Floki receives the starving Helgi that tells that his family is dying. In Wessex, Judith plots a scheme and poisons a conspirator.

"The Buddha" presents the sequel after the Battle of Wessex showing the fate of each character. The weakest segment is Floki and his settlers. The greatest surprise is the last scene that was absolutely unexpected. My vote is seven.

All the fans are talking about how Vikings becoming terrible and this episode is an example
VoyagerMN19864 January 2019
First of all: Get Floki out of the decrepitude that is Iceland. Iceland is going to suck for another 1,000 years. People there will generally starve, be subject to waves of disease and famine, and inbreed to an unbelievable extent. The actor playing Floki is one of the few people who can act on the show. Get him out of Iceland. 2) Stop opening more and more soap opera story lines. This is not game of thrones. The actor playing Ivar cannot act. He cannot. Every scene in Kattagard is cringeworthy. Essentially everyone with any acting talent has been written out or marginalized. Gabrel Byrne .. off to Valhalla. George Blagden..off to heaven. Linus Roache... off to hell. Jonathan Rhys Myers...off to purgatory.

We are stuck with the cast members who can't act their way out of a paper bag!

A bit of calm after the storm
liooizki22 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Although this episode wasn't a mix of blood and war (like the last one), I really think this one has to be this way. Some people are calling it boring, but I guess they don't see the beauty in the calm after a big storm. The way the saxons come along with Ubbe and Torvi, the way the dream of Ragnar was finally fullfilled, are just some of the reasons why this episode was accurate. But more importantly, the scene when Alfred signs the document and all the saxons applaude the vikings, I would say that it is marvelous. Thinking of this two seasons earlier wasn't even possible. Let's not forget how Hvitserk finds a new religion and starts thinking in another way, and this could lead in more knowledge. The way Bjorn was beated by the catholicism when he was in the new lands, proves that indeed he is a Ragnar's son, and cannot get along with the idea that he has to settle down in that place, under the catholicist rules. My real rating would be 8/10 because i found some errors in the way Bjorn goes away without saying a thing or protesting against Ubbe. I give this 10-star rating because I want to raise the overall

I don't think anyone wants to know about Floki's stupid adventure! What's the freaking point of it all? It's a pain to watch those parts!

The Vikings Soap Opera continues. Filler Episode.
Bababooe3 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Lag disappeared. She was beamed up to the Enterprise to meet Cap Kirk, Mr. Spock and crew. They're working on a new sc-fi Vikings episode.

Bjoke sits around bored, doing nothing. Alfred the non-actor, thankfully not too much screen time, hangs all the conspirators except his brother. Judy is not happy about that, and asks Alf to question Aethelred. Alf gives lands to Ubb, Torbi and Bjoke. Bjoke hooks up with Gunn for some soap. Bjoke, what does this guy do? Coming home Alf is ill, all the nobles are unruly, Aeth goes over to calm them down, as Judy looks on trying to looks suspicious. We later see Aeth doing his thing with his wife wishes Alf dead. What the hell does all this have to do with the Vikings? I don't know. We then see Judy picking mushrooms and then eating, Aeth comes over eats and we see him dead. The best part was when he fell, his head crashed on the table before hitting the floor. Not a bad shot. This was the best acting from poor dead Aeth.

Meanwhile Harold enters York with Magnus the pretender (Mr. I am Viking). They Yorkers aren't too happy and Harold kills a few just for the hell of it. Not bad. But not good. We later see Bjoke with Gunn at York for an alliance to attack Ivar the Joke.

Ivar the Terrible Actor accuses Hvits of being crazy. Hvits has taken up a new hobby of playing with dolls, a Buddha doll! Ivar says he will invade England.

Floki is still tripping in Iceland or wherever. This is seriously tiring.

All in all, a filler episode. Not entertaining. Just a soap opera. We got some conspirator killings. Judy kills her son Aeth. Alf is sick. His wife is pregnant, probably with Bjoke's baby. Lag is missing, magic, maybe her contract was up. Ubbe and Torvi have nothing much to do. Bjoke is relegated to just looking pissed off and bored, hooks up with Gunn, and they try to form an alliance with Harold who adopted Mag the Pretender. Ivar and Hvits same old nonsense. Floki, who the hell knows what's going on.

It's sad really. This was the show that had Ragnar, the real Floki, Rollo, King Eckbert, some great battle scenes, tension. We are left with nothing. Just some low key acting, soap opera.

This season is horrible.

Mystical crap all the time, insanity, dark, brooding...what is this series? Holloween XXI or Jason XI set in a viking backdrop? Does anyone believe the highly independent, forthright, take no crap vikings would put up with Ivar the Boneless's silly, murderous insanity? The writer is channeling his own idiocy, like the segments with Floki, and destrorying this otherwise excellent story. This series is going downhill fast! I used to put this series at the top of my Must Watch Immediately list, Now I sometimes forget to watch it at all.
