Not Good Enough
PennyReviews5 February 2019
This short movie compacts some events in the lead's life in about an hour length. The story is more slice of life, with some elements of fantasy (? I don't know what those drawn cats were, probably day dreaming??). The romance is short, as well as the friendship, that is presented better than the love story. At some point, the time line of the events loses the straight forward pace and got a bit confusing, but it explained things towards the end. The performances, unlike the story, were really good and enjoyable.

A mellow little slice of life film

This movie doesn't really have a plot, it just follows a high school student during his summer holiday in Kyoto, with some romance added to the mix. The cinematography is very nice, all scenes are aesthetically shot, with precise camerawork and very visually pleasing surroundings, almost like a japanese garden in motion picture form. It's a mellow, comfy film. It could have been a little longer, but I really enjoyed it.
