Bellamy to the rescue
tenshi_ippikiookami18 June 2017
Bellamy is not very happy with Jaha and Clarke's decision of taking over the bunker, leaving all the Grounders outside. Especially taking into account Octavia is also outside. Bellamy will try his best (as we knew he would) to let the ones outside in.

"The Other Side" is a gripping episode that tackles again the subjects that are so pervasive through "The 100"'s plot: freedom of choice, survival, family, who is us and who is they... and it does through our number one "I always have to do the right thing, whatever the consequences" Bellamy. Bellamy, who had been on the sidelines on many of the episodes this season, takes center stage and Bob Morley, as always, delivers. His Bellamy is full of layers and subtlety, even if in this case, his path is chosen for him and quite straightforward. Even with these downsides, the plot is thrilling, twisting and engaging, and it delivers without forgetting about giving depth to the story.

The rest of the story-lines are also interesting (Raven's is probably the weakest) and help in showing us how many options and decisions we are allowed to take on an extreme situation, and how freedom is not as free as we may believe. As in any kind of situation.

"The Other Side" is a great episode and leaves things open for a great ending for this fourth season.

Jaha needs to go
laureceballos31 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Jaha has been crazy the past 2 seasons I was actually starting to like him again until this episode. I don't know why but he has a specialty of ruining a perfectly good plan at the very last second. Someone seriously needs to take him out. I get that he's just trying to save his people but he should only do that if there's absolutely no other choice. Octavia found a way for for all the clans to survive and save the human race and Jaha just had to be selfish. Hopefully next episode he will come around but I highly doubt it since he's been CRAZY for the past 2 seasons.

The Other Side.

This episode we sees the other side of situation. Decision that has to be made in extreme situation, The 100 did well on teaching us things around decisions. But the plot of this episode has a very weak impact on the storyline. Kind of a filler episode.

These people are somethin else aren't they ?
scottkursch9 May 2019
Well I will admit this much. These characters have more Flip Flops than the beach at Ocean City on 4th of July weekend. First it's, "No, we have to kill these people so the rest of us can live". Then it's, "No, I will never sacrifice another person, we'll find a way". Then it's back to, "The ONLY way we can survive is if we let so and so die". Then it CHANGES again. I keep saying to myself, "Wait, you said last month you're not doing that again". Its worth it, it's not worth it, It's worth it, it's not worth it.... -Sighs-

Anyhow, it always keeps me on my toes and delivers a measure of suspense. One thing for sure, I certainly don't know what I would do if I were in those situations. It's still a pretty decent show if it has you captivated and grumbling to yourself. This week I'm wanting to slap Ja ha and Clarke. Oh Harper and Jasper too. Used to Bellamy. Anyway, let me get back to it and see what happens. (obviously I am way behind but should be current in a few weeks). Peace.

Second good episode in a row might save season 4
jimmyfalcon696 March 2022
Season 4 was disgusting until episode 10. Now I have seen 2 good episodes in a row. Let's hope season 4 is saved by these last good episodes. Tension is mind blowing. I keep my eyes wide open and ask myself what I would do in those situations.

Everyone hated Jasper while he was alive, now everyone is saying that he deserved better!
Neptune1654 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
If Bellamy died, yeah I'd be upset, but like ehhh- there's plenty of white straight males out there. It's not like their killing Lexa all over again THEN I'd be pissed and upset. I think it was more hypocritical of the Grounders to force Skaikru to participate in a conclave, because they didn't want to share the bunker, but then when Skaikru won they suddenly became all for sharing again. Screw that. Skaikru deserved that freaking bunker. Octavia should've said, all of my people go in, and the clans can just split the remaining spaces between themselves. What she did was stupid and it's gonna cause a lot of unnecessary chaos. Americ, I'm begging you. Bellamy is not dying, not a chance. The sooner you realize that, the less time in your finale review you will have to spend admitting that you were wrong. I admit, Jaspers been annoying the last season and a half, but I am absolutely aggravated that they killed him off. Especially since they made him commit suicide. I would have fathered a heroic death. I think the fact that even though Clarke did point a gun at Bellamy, when her gut was forcing her to do it, she still didn't do it. But with Finn, she killed him almost easily back in season 2. I think we can tell they both love each other a lot. Was anyone else seriously pissed about Jaha just taking over as chancellor? Kane is still the rightful chancellor, so shouldn't Jaha and Clarke leaving him behind to die be considered something like treason?

I think they should let Octavia for sure in the bunker I mean she basically won the bunker
Neptune1654 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I think Octavia is going to become some kind of queen/leader to the grounders depending on if people survive. It's even in her name, all over names from those from the arc have largely quite simple/normal names "Abby" "Clarke" "Jasper"...Octavia's name fits all other Grounder names "Lexa" "Echo" "Indra" , it's like she was destined to literally rise from the ashes (underneath the floor where it's dark and dusty). Also, it's getting really hard to relate to Clarke. Even in her most vulnerable moments she goes "oh, the human race... sigh" and it sounds hypocritical and fake. She should have said something like "I hate doing this to my mom, to Kane, Bellamy" or something that shows more emotion than ALIE. Am i the only one thinking that it was A. L. I. E. and not Becca talking to raven and trying to get a human brain up into space? A. L. I. E. Transferred herself in season 3 'red sky morning' up into the computer of the last remaining arc piece which is still up there ( you remember A. L. I. E. looking down from space episodes before Clarke entered the CoL?) soooo.... is she/her program still there even after Clarke pulled the lever? Wouldn't it makes sense that sinclair is the part of ravens brain trying to stop the part of her brain which has still the A. L. I. E. code in it(!and knows that the whole program still exist somewhere)? I mean the whole transmission-thing would have been a waste of (episode)time if nothing is coming out of it.

After a brief moment of no moralism, it's back again
augustoarthur23 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Omg, after everything, save my "sister" is more important than the human race... Not to mention that Clark's mother should have been dead for a while... Too much moralism

Repetitive, Formulaic Garbage.
brendanegtaylor26 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
When I first started this series I never imagined I would come to a point where I would root against humanity's survival but honestly, mutually assured destruction is all they deserve. I am sick and tired of seeing rational, competent leadership figures such as Jaha and Clarke be constantly vilified by emotionally-driven, self-centered, myopic characters such as Abby and Bellamy. Don't get me wrong, they're not faultless but at the end of the day they're the only ones willing to be at the helm for the sake of everyone else.

Bellamy and Octavia's relationship is ludicrous. Bellamy's single character thread is he "loves" his sister and will sacrifice just about anything except his anemic thinking process for her. How do you love someone and hate the culture they abide by to the point of genocide? When one says A, they must also say B. When Bellamy calls her out and says she's playing Grounder, he's not even wrong for that. She's Sky People or Grounder at the flip of a coin throughout the series this far. She is a disgrace to every Commander that came before her. He, however, faces no consequences for the absolute nonsenses he supports and propagates. Of course, Bellamy's actions were justifiable and he was doing the right thing in the interest of everyone, right? Lol no. Bellamy makes the easiest decision to make at every juncture. His character has not grown since the Mount Weather arc and it is sad to see.
