Huge Improvement Over the Last Episode

Just a great episode. Glad things got back on track. So much about this is awesome. The cinematography's insanely good, the actors are so talented, and the conclusion to Russ' storyline is handled really satisfyingly. I feel like all of the big events and huge decisions in this episode were really natural and well-written. Also, I've got to appreciate the episode for calling out the scam that is the funeral industry.

Ozark doing what it does best

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was great, the plot continued in a fast pace. Petty is becoming a more intriguing character and it was about time for those Langmores to die. Charlotte was left out in this episode and there wasnt something in this episode which I could call mind-blowing or masterfully written and directed but it was a decent episode putting the show on a great path.

Netflix can make a better version of narcos.

Warning: Spoilers
The ninth episode of Ozark, "Coffee, Black," opens on a worrisome exchange: Tuck is buying a gun for Jonah. In this penultimate installment of the series, every aspect of Marty Byrde's world is getting darker. Back at home, tensions are building between Wendy and Marty. It doesn't help that the Cartel has eyes on them, with a watchdog parked right outside their house. In an effort to get things under control, Marty heads over to do damage control on the burnt-down church. At the construction site, it's more bad news. Marty can't so much as collect insurance money for the property, as the arson investigation will be going on for quite some time. He's angry and worried, so he rashly heads over to confront the Snells. Marty's still under the impression that Jacob burnt down the church, but that notion is quickly corrected. Mason did the burning, the Snells explain. "Be grateful it was only your church that went up in flames." In a last ditch effort to get Wendy to turn on Marty's work, FBI Agent Evans offers her the witness protection program. Despite her marital problems, she turns him down. While Evans is doing his part of the job, Roy is holding his own. He reveals his true identity to Russ, while playing him the recording of his confession. He's got him on conspiracy to attempt murder, and Russ, naturally, is not thrilled. The action is climbing to a frenzied pace, with Marty and Wendy meeting with the Cartel rep to get their newest shipment of money. They knew the $8 million would only be the beginning, but they had no clue what they were really in for: $50 million, ready for laundering. The whole Byrde family, kids and all, wrap the bills and load them into the walls. Walter White's tidy stack from Breaking Bad has got nothing on this.

As they work, Russ and his brother are closing in. As they pull their boat into the dock, though, Russ is electrocuted as he touches the ladder. His brother fries, too, as he tries to help. The shock is big, putting out the power on the whole waterfront.

Coffee, Black

Warning: Spoilers
This was definitely the best episode since early on in the show as they got across the danger of the situation, we had some strong acting across the board, and there really was not a boring scene all hour. Very few episodes of Ozark can claim that.

They did get a little preachy with Jonah buying the gun in the opening scene, clearly trying to prove a point that it is too easy in this country to get a weapon, but that aside a good episode here.

The end is near

Warning: Spoilers
The season is coming to an end and things are starting to heat up. Roy reveals to Russ that their relationship is a ploy, and that he intends to turn Russ into a informant against Ruth and ultimately Marty. Things didn't work out, Russ decides they rob and possibly kill Marty inorder to finance a life on the run. Ruth suspects them and acts first. I thought Ruth turning back on her uncles and murdering them was a step too far. There are many alternatives that she could go for that'll involve Russ and Boyd being alive but paying for their crimes like,, I don't know, jail. Her actions were unjustified, and it also come across as sappy that she did it for Marty. In the other segment, just when the Brydes thought they were done with their homework, another fresh set comes in, much to their surprise. A really good episode.

What?

Warning: Spoilers
It was an OK episode. The time incongruities in kaleidoscope had a thematic purpose but in this episode they just thought it would add interest. I liked how betrayed Russ felt but I never could pin down how intelligent he is. In his conversations with Roy, he does seems moderately smart but his attempt to get Ruth to confess the attempted murder was moronic.

I do not understand how Ruth could have known Russ and his brother were going to ty to kill Marty. Just because they took the guns? The would have taken their guns anyway. If he killed Marty with feds looking on, he would have been tracked down and extradite from Canada. Taking the cartel's money and running to canada means you die. His plan made no sense and there's no way she would have assumed he as going to do it. Also, why would she all of a sudden feel a connection to Marty? She just tried to kill him. She was considering another attempt. I can see her having feelings toward Wendy, they bonded thru their abuse experiences but Marty?

Great episode too bad it started off bad

Don't really care what your views on guns are but that was a gross misrepresentation on how gun buying works. It appears as though the gun was a full auto or you want it to look that way and try to say it malfunctioned since it looked like there was only one trigger pull. Aim for accuracy, it's not hard.
