It was an OK episode. The time incongruities in kaleidoscope had a thematic purpose but in this episode they just thought it would add interest. I liked how betrayed Russ felt but I never could pin down how intelligent he is. In his conversations with Roy, he does seems moderately smart but his attempt to get Ruth to confess the attempted murder was moronic.

I do not understand how Ruth could have known Russ and his brother were going to ty to kill Marty. Just because they took the guns? The would have taken their guns anyway. If he killed Marty with feds looking on, he would have been tracked down and extradite from Canada. Taking the cartel's money and running to canada means you die. His plan made no sense and there's no way she would have assumed he as going to do it. Also, why would she all of a sudden feel a connection to Marty? She just tried to kill him. She was considering another attempt. I can see her having feelings toward Wendy, they bonded thru their abuse experiences but Marty?
