According to the BBC, the series isn't based on (or inspired by) the book The Coroner by M.R.Hall. Now that we've got that out of the way...I grew to like the Coroner as it progressed to series 2, and then the rug got pulled out by someone in TV authority so adios to series 3:( Not happy at all.
Oliver Gomm as Clint looks so much like David Spade's doppelganger big time. He doesn't get much screen time in this episode and maybe a spin-off can feature Clint.
In this episode, we get a flashback to a murder that happened in the 90s on a yacht owned by Lord Jerry Foxby, and he ended up disappearing after the murder of Helen Boyd.
There's an Upstairs Downstairs feel to this, and the huge surprise at the end re: Jerry is quite stunning, and if there was a series 3 then maybe this could have been resolved. Suzette Llewellyn deserves much credit for her performance in this episode.
Jane's daughter Beth doesn't appear in this episode.
