Sensational Episode

I can't believe I'm the only one writing about this series in this format. There is so much that goes on here. It begins with an incredible debate between Lenny and Spencer about abortion and Biblical scholarship. It is intellectual and riveting and is as open ended as it should be. We now focus most of our attention on Gutierrez and his assignment in New York, which is to bring down a serial child molesting Archbishop who has tremendous popularity. If things happen the way the should in a just society, he will win. Gutierrez has so many issues. He is quiet and lacking in social graces. He is a hard core alcoholic who buys three bottles of what appears to be vodka every day. He has no power in New York, although the Archbishop is well award of him and his work. Lenny feels sorry for him when they Face Time and tells him to come home. Gutierrez is dogged if nothing else. He has incredible faith in what he is doing and believes God is working through him.

Episode 9 phenomenal

Best episode by far.

An intricate web of stories without context but understandable nevertheless.

The Young Pope is a mixture of Donny Darko, Better call Saul, House of Cards and every Fellini movie.

Delicious, intriguing, intelligent, dialogue rich and stunning cinematography & symbolism.
