Truly Heartwarming and Realistic Family Drama with a Twist of Comedy
paulhpak25 June 2019
What a truly amazing drama with a twist of comedy wrapped up in a real life family situation known to too many families especially Asian families in this generation. A revelation to our times and the director stays true to the truthful family situations versus the crazy rich kind!

Heartwarming Real Life Story
rklazar17 June 2019
The story is told in a manner that helps the viewer truly understand the struggles that all up and coming Actors and Actresses face just to get themselves recognized in a cutthroat business. The fact that Betty Ouyang, the Outstanding Writer, Director & Actress utilized her own real life family experience to create a short heartfelt message that resonates with most viewers wanting to fulfill their lifelong dream. I'd love to see Betty Ouyang be given more opportunities to explore the deep, dark struggles faced by many in Hollywood and the Rewards given to those who ultimately succeed.

Very Believable

As a writer, actor and Director myself I tend to be a harsh critic. I thought "Father's Day" was a well written, well acted short film. They packed a lot of content into a small amount of time...but didn't overload the viewer. Well done!

Funny and poignant, with a satisfying ending
info-1350711 October 2019
Father's Day packs a big punch into a small running time. The acting is excellent all-around, and the simple setting and setup lets us get to know the characters and care for them. Family can mean a lot of different things, and there aren't always easy answers or clean beginnings and endings. This film manages to work within that framework, and yet still seem satisfying.

The humor supplements the drama, and never overwhelms it. The tone is light throughout, yet it has a strong emotional impact.

Big recommend!

Funny and touching movie.

Warning: Spoilers
Hi Betty. It's the cashier from Seasalt Fish Grill. My name is Sicely. I love the movie. It's cute. It's funny and touching type of movie. If anybody ever want to move to la from a different state or country, this movie describes it perfectly when it comes to finding a place. It's tough out there. But I would so recommend this movie. Wish it was a full length movie.

Hilarious & Relatable
Chris_Esper11 October 2019
Betty Ouyang writes, directs, and co-stars in this hilarious and relatable short film about family and sacrifices. A father comes to visit his daughters for Father's Day only to learn about the sad truth of daughter's living and career situations.

There's a lot of great dialogue between the two sisters that is snappy and believable. As someone who was raised by old school generation parents, I was able to relate closely to the situations presented here. The characters are in the entertainment industry with one being a writer and the other being an actress. Being in this field requires a lot of sacrifice and perseverance. The characters discuss their odd jobs with their father. I was nodding my head and laughing the whole time as it felt like conversations I've had with my own parents.

An overall wonderful film with great performances, writing, and directing. Highly recommended!

Well written, really hits home for Asian-Americans

I didn't know what to expect when I started watching Father's Day. After finishing, I really love the honesty Betty portrayed in her writing and the performance by the talented cast. It was hilarious and real at the same time. Seeing the relationship between the father and daughters was really well done. As an as an Asian-American, seeing their different cultural point of views of how one should live life really hit home; parents wanting their children to live a 'normal' vs the children pursuing an artistic career. I really hope to see more of Betty's work in the future.

HIlarious and believable

When a father comes to visit his two daughters for what should be a day of remembrance and celebration, a series of very funny family dynamics are set in play. I caught this gem in a screening at the Chinese American Film Festival, and loved it. I won't spoil with full details, but an out-of-earshot argument between the two women builds to one of the funniest spats I've seen. Very fun, funny, well-written and performed film.

A truly impressive accomplishment for a short film!
panmorpheo7 December 2019
I was kind of dazzled about the level of character development and symbolism in this short-film.

"Father's Day" weaves from comedic slapstick one moment to a slow-burn, heart-breaking drama... in an instant.

It was also nice watching an Asian-American family in a non-cliched context. Something we see too rarely in Hollywood.

Looking forward to what this Director will accomplish next...
