Surprisingly not terrible
hcampbell-704735 May 2018
Above average performances - particularly from Jacob Blair - in the hands of an experienced director almost make up for a very uneven script. Almost.

Warning: Spoilers
The best part of the movie was at the very end when it is surprisingly revealed that a co-conspirator existed in making this nightmare for a couple about to get married.

Sorority sisters get together after a long absence in honor of one of them who is about to be married. This girl had been molested years before while in college by her boyfriend. While the girls are partying, the guys kidnaps her fiancé and by video divides the girls up in teams and forces them to do terrible things including to each other's bodies so that the fiancé can live.

The film borders on the macabre and there seems to be endless tasks for the girls to do.

As is the case with these types of films, things get out of hand and besides the mayhem, murder pursues.

Not for the squeamish, but in the end you have quite a surprise waiting you.

Stay in/home

Not just something to say in the current situation (with Corona), but something one might suggest to the people involved here. Now there are many coincidences happening ... like not caring about messages and cell phones ... leaving drinks unattended (I don't even have to fill in, how mad that is, no pun intended). So there are quite a few setbacks to this.

I understand that some are quite frustrated watching this - I was at least surprised by what this was because I was expecting to watch the Scarlett Johannson movie, that is also being called Girls Night out in Germany (original title being Rough Night - this could also easily be called that - or rough watch!) ... this has a bit of mystery going for it (though the big reveal/twist, wasn't one for me), which may be somewhat of a saving grace - or not. Acting is not always top, but same goes for the script, so ... not many will like this for many reasons, but I think some will have some "fun" with it

Needed: NEGATIVE Stars

This was a horrible movie. Horrible plot, horrible acting, horribly boring. Worst of all is the ending which leaves you with unanswered questions till you realize you really don't give a d*** about the answers anyway b/c you're so glad the movie is finally over. Have a root canal instead, it will be less painful than watching this movie. I rate this movie S for S*** b/c that's what it is.

New low reference movie

Wasted money on the 4k UHD version. I found the video and audio of good quality. It is probably the worst movie I own. Bad acting combined with empty plot and flat attempt for humor. Did not watch it trough the end and never will.

Didn't bother finishing it

Warning: Spoilers
Actually FF to the end just to confirm the co-villain that I picked up on before they even got to the strip club. Not worth the time or effort. I liked how they were daring the villain to do things and weren't taking XXX seriously, but still didn't call the police.

These women didn't strike me as best friends, but as friends at one point in their lives. The way the movie plays out just solidifies that. Then at the end, nobody even acknowledges the friend who DID die trying to save them all. "Friends."

Don't waste your time.

Diminished Somewhat by the Rather Poor Ending
Uriah434 September 2023
This film essentially begins with an attractive young woman by the name of "McKenzie" (Mackenzie Mauzy) being given a surprise bachelorette party by three of her friends from her college days. While this is happening, her fiancé "Reese" (Cody Ray Thompson) supposedly receives a text message from McKenzie asking him to meet her at a nightclub not too far from where her party is taking place. Not seeing in any harm in this, he goes there--only to be kidnapped by McKenzie's old boyfriend "Brandon" (Jacob Blair) who she had accused of raping her a few years earlier. To that effect, McKenzie soon gets a phone call from Brandon who demands that she and her three friends conduct a scavenger hunt within certain time frames if she ever wants to see Reese again. Being quite loyal to their friend, all three young ladies agree. But what they don't realize is the extent to which Brandon is willing to put them in harm's way to satisfy an old grudge. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that this would have been an okay film if it hadn't been diminished somewhat by the rather poor ending. Likewise, some of the scenarios were a bit too far-fetched as well. In any case, while I don't consider this to be a bad movie necessarily, it strained credibility a bit too much for me to rate it any higher than I have. Slightly below average.

Better than the 1 star reviews
Tina_jeppesen16 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I would actually give this about 5 or 6 stars but wanted to up the rating a bit. Don't think it's deserving of so many 1 stars. Yes the dialogue was kind of cheese but it's a b horror movie so whatever. The premise was different & fun & had me not bored the whole time, was interested. The "challenges" in the game the psycho played were gross & unique. The rape was different because it sheds light on how yes you CAN be raped in a relationship. As well as you can be raped even if you are a sexual being who has done wild sexual things consensually. So it was more layered than given credit even if it could have been done/written better. I also like how her fiancé wasn't some pussy he has a personality too & wasn't a cardboard cutout of the "perfect fiancé" his dialogue was actually some of the best -what little he had. The only thing I didn't really like as another said was the ending. I didn't dislike the twist BUT it felt rushed & not explained well enough. Also there could have been a few more & better subtle clues as to the twist. The end/end was super quick too. It's like it went from a decent pace to a rush ending. It also makes you think a little bit about hazing in sororities. The girls are sympathetic characters but then you realize in the past they had done these questionable things to pledges, and now they have to do it to each other so you don't really feel bad for them in that part. I liked it overall & am always looking for something a little different in my horror movies & this delivered that.

Top tier LFM good
chris-j-chuba23 October 2019
LFM cranks out guilty pleasure movies, the trick is to pick out the ones that are fun to watch. This was a mild version of SAW but more gritty than your average LFM fair. The friends also reflected on their past as they did their assigned task.

Was it the Godfather, no, but it was a good LFM movie.

Quite good
haroot_azarian26 June 2022
Just ignore the bad reviews! This was one of the rare good LMN movies. The story was very plausible and all the actors performed convincingly. I have to use hundred and fifty characters to be able to post. So here I am rambling on.

HILARIOUS MOVIE
mpgg-6761323 March 2023
Recently I stumbled across this review. I was floored by all the negative reviews it received; that I felt compelled to weigh in on this movie.

Since when does a comedy have to be realistic? What planet were these critics from?

I thought this movie was not only hilarious but it had a believable storyline!

If Nine to Five was such a rave with a work related storyline, why wasn't Girls Night Out!

Hum? I'll let you fill in the gap for yourself!

Was it really that inconceivable that profesional women of color couldn't have found themselves in a comedic situation with some girlfriend drama which could make you 🤣!

I would watch it again just for laughs!
