All Will Be Revealed Soon
ThomasDrufke7 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Everything is happening and "all will be revealed soon". Dang, Savitar is shaping up to be quite the big bad for Barry and crew. I may always be partial to the original Harrison Wells/Eobard Thawne arc in season 1, but what Savitar is doing now is unprecedented. And it only took an episode for me to get back on board. His presence has been missed over the last 4 or 5 episodes, but he's back now and that's all that matters.

I love the device the team uses to talk to Savitar through Julian. It feels so refreshing and unique compared to the approach the show has taken in the past. I'm not sure I buy Julian's disapproval of the device solely to protect Caitlin, but it does give some weight to the situation. But by far the most impressive thing about this episode is that it succeeds in continuing the path of a self- fulfilling prophecy for Team Flash. Once again, they try to stop Savitar by throwing the other part of the stone into the speed- force, but instead, it helps bring him back out of the speed-force. I thought they already knew he was trapped in the speed-force, but the twist really puts the team in a bad position. Just the position they should be in with a speedster- god at their throats.

It's interesting, this episode both gives validation to the Wally as Savitar theories but also some hesitation as well. To me, it seems obvious. But almost too obvious to be true, right? Then again, I said the same thing about Jay's true identity last season and look how that turned out. I'm fine with whatever they do, as long as it works for the story. I think it's safe to say we're losing one West family member by the end of the season, and I sure as heck don't think they will ever truly kill off the Iris character. I just love the fact that pushing Wally to get better and faster all this time may have actually been counterproductive. Wally is going insane, and it only seems logical that he turns into Savitar. The dialogue in this episode certainly gave weight to that. The "I created me" line says it all.

The other controversy tonight came from Barry's untimely proposal to Iris. It seemed sudden at the time but why not, right? Iris only had a few months left. But the fact that Barry did it mostly because she didn't have a ring in the future vision was a nice twist. I know some will make the comparison to the Olicity engagement/non-engagement last year, which I understand but I don't think it totally holds weight. I've been hard on them in the past, but Barry & Iris seem to be acting a little bit more mature than Ollie and Felicity did. In all, this was one of my favorite episodes of the season.

+Wally/Savitar stuff

+Talking through Julian

+Tearing the team apart

+Self-fulling prophecy continues

The Flash - S03E15 The Wrath of Savitar
j_forbesy8 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The Flash is one of my favourite shows of all time and this episode shows why. I have never been so emotionally invested in a show where they can have 80% of an episode just talking and you're hanging off every word. The Flash has built such a strong foundation over it's three seasons that pulling out an episode like this can only happen after they have you hooked.

What I loved most about this episode was that for the most part it felt like not much happened and it very much as a character driven episode, then it got into the back half and everything changed. Everything in this episode had a purpose. Whether it was Barry and Iris discussing their engagement or Julian and Caitlyn talking about their relationship, everything fit into the bigger picture of this episode and the season as a whole. We now know why Barry proposed, we know that Caitlyn is the one to betray the team, and we know that Wally is the one that suffers a fate worse than death. While I'm open to the idea that someone else might betray the team or someone else might suffer a fate worse than death, I like how when Team Flash started ticking off points to stop Savitar, Savitar starts ticking off points to his victory.

I have to take a moment to talk about Jesse L Martin. He is by far the most talented actor on this show and his performance this episode was outstanding. No one could of given the "I'm happy for you but I'm disappointed in you" talk to Barry, or pull that amount of emotion when Wally was sucked into the speed force. The reason Joe works so well as a character is because of Martin, and I'm so glad we have someone like that on the show. While I'm on the topic of Joe, this is the point of the season where predictions start to happen. While I would hate for this to actually happen, I think Joe is going to die this season. I love the character but this show has a way of getting you emotionally every season and I think this is going to be the emotional blow.

I of course have to talk about Wally. I'll start by saying I don't think there is anyway he will remain in the speed force. I'm sure they will find a way to remove him, however I still think this is a really strong story point. Team Flash now have another big problem to face as well as Savitar, and that problem is even bigger because Wally was the key to saving Iris. On Wally as a whole, I really liked what they did with him this episode. Out of everyone this episode, he had the more important things to do and I think a lot of credit should be given to Keiynan Lonsdale for stepping it up. I'm now interested to see what they are going to do with Wally while he is in the speed force. I'm hoping we have some scenes where we are checking in on him, however I can see them keeping us in the dark on what is going on with him.

Last but not least, Savitar. This episode we saw that Savitar was much more than just a deadly speedster, he is a genius. On Arrow we have Prometheus who is always 10 steps ahead of Arrow and it's great to be getting a similar thing with Savitar on Flash. What I love about it is that us as the audience is in the same position as Team Flash. We had no idea that Savitar had a plan this complex and that he was playing everyone from the start. This adds so much to the character of Savitar and it really excites me to know that he has to be both out fought and outwitted. As mentioned before, this is the time where theories start to arise on the back end of the season. I believe Savitar is future Barry. While most of this is because I am currently chipping away at the New 52 Flash comics, but everything from the physical design and his origin seems very similar to future Barry in the comics. While part of my hopes it's not because I want to be surprised, I think following the theme of having to fact yourself and your mistakes would ring really well if this was the case.

Overall, I loved this episode. I love a lot of Flash episodes but for me, this episode is up there in my top few. This episode was perfect to me in pretty much every aspect it could be and I could ask for anything else out of 40 minutes. We are getting more on the main plot next week, and then the musical crossover the week later, so it appears things are starting to ramp up the a fantastic finish.

This season was lacking, but that's no longer the case thanks to this episode

Warning: Spoilers
This episode finally picked up what was an otherwise lacking season with no plot development. Can't believe I'm going to say this, but The Flash actually had me on the edge of my seat with this episode, and I don't think that has ever happened.

Let me also add; that fight scene with Savitar at the end was very well done. None of that junk with Star Labs commentating every 5 seconds, this was a pure fight scene with Barry using his wits to outsmart the opponent.

Hopeful Anticipation?
codipalm9 March 2017
Being a fan of both the Flash series and the flash-point paradox in the comics, I can sum this season so far as...interesting. Savitar isn't seeming nearly as scary nor as brutal as Zoom or even Thawne was, but he's still intimidating since he knows certain details about the team.

On a technical note: is this the first episode where Savitar is not completely animated? I feel like I'm watching a power rangers episode.

Good show, really hoping they execute the ending well, but the Savitar attire is really going to throw me off if the armor looks plush.

The best compensation for Grodd!

Warning: Spoilers
Savitar is back and cool! Why Barry wasn't doing anything while Wally gets pulled back into the Speed Force? We are getting more on the main plot next week... The dialogue in this episode certainly gave weight to that. The "I created me" line says it all. Finally the envelope is being pushed and seen!

Toxic Lover Killed the Episode
cbatukilic1 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Every series has a stupid main character. Especially it's the hero's lover. In this one it's Iris. Barry trying to save her, literally everyone trying to save her. But she thinks Barry didn't propose because of love her but propose because of save her. FOR GOD'S SAKE! IT'S THE SAME! THE GUY IS TRYING EVERYTHING GODDAMN EVERY FREAKING WAY. GET A LIFE WOMAN! In Arrow: Felicity, In Flash: Iris are the worst characters and they're killing the good mood of show. Only Savitar scenes and Wally's good acting made the 8 points. Iris scenes are 1/10

Ranking/Reviewing every Flash episode: Wrath of Savitar
lbramson11 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Wally sees visions of Savitar, being brought to the speed force, and Savitar continues to reign powerful. This was the first 10/10 episode since Flashpoint, it's awesome! First of all, the Speed Force gets getting developed every season. In Season 1, it was just a power. In Season 2, it was an abstract force. Now, in Season 3, it is the driving force of everything within the show. This really is one of the darkest Flash episodes ever especially the cult scene! Jesus Christ! Peak Savitar! Peak tone! Peak action! Peak character development! Peak episode! On par with Flashpoint.

The scariest part of this episode Caitlin's haircut😬.

9.8/10-THE PEAK!!!

Future Flash
cobi-806208 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was full of hints here and there throughout pointing to several possible subjects who could be behind the metallic suit that makes Savitar.

In the first scene they are testing Wally to see if he's fast enough to save Iris from Savitar. It turns out that he is and everyone gets happy of course. I only have one issue with the actual test. Shouldn't they have Wally sneak up on Savitar from behind rather than come running right in front of him? It's a small detail that they could probably change on the night of Iris's death but I can't help but point that out.

Savitar continues to appear before Wally and manipulates him into freeing Savitar from his imprisonment within the Speed Force. Savitar mentions he spent enough time inside the Speed Force to go insane and it could be that Wally is destined to be Savitar as he's now suffering that same fate. Savitar says he created himself which also hints towards Wally being Savitar because Alchemy (who was Savitar all along) gave Wally his powers. There is plenty enough here to make one think Savitar is in indeed Wally. I however have a different person in mind.

Like I wrote in my review for "The Present", I thought Barry would be the one who becomes Savitar. In one scene where Barry listens to Savitar when Savitar speaks through Julian (love these scenes,) Savitar says he created himself. There is a story in the comics where Barry dies and becomes the very lightning that gave him his powers. It's too early to have Barry Allen's Flash career end in just the third season. I doubt anyone would want to see Grant Gustin off this show anytime soon but it's still a possibility since this is a show with time travel. According to the myths that Jay Garrick spoke about Savitar is the first speedster. We have no idea if those myths can be trusted but if a future Barry went back in time it's possible he could be considered the first speedster to appear in history. Furthermore, Savitar keeps on telling Barry that he's the "Future Flash" which could mean that he's Barry from the future. Savitar also mocks Cisco for not accepting Reverb's offer of letting Reverb teach him to become a god. Barry was the only other person from Team Flash to accompany Cisco on that trip to Earth-2. There's almost too many hints at Barry being Savitar.

There's also the idea of Savitar being Eddie because Eddie got sucked into the singularity and has possibly been stuck inside the Speed Force ever since. However, problem is that Eddie never got to know about Jay Garrick, Wally or Flashpoint but who knows what could've happened when Eddie got trapped inside the Speed Force. Possibly he was able to see everything and was then thrown back in time? I could see Eddie become a villain in a future season instead of this one.

Of course there's also the possibility of them totally fooling us all by having it be Iris, Julian or maybe Jay Garrick (for whatever reason). Iris would be the least suspected one because Savitar kills her, unless... Iris who dies is a time remnant, hmmm, no no that's way too ridiculous to suggest. I'll stick with it being Barry.

The new practical suit for Savitar looks great, and I like the mixing of the CGI and the suit. Hopefully this won't make the fight scenes too awkward because it was easy to notice that the suit isn't very flexible which makes the arm movements pretty stale. We probably won't see Savitar grab Barry and run through the Speed Force anymore which is too bad 'cause that was pretty cool. I like that Barry used phasing to cut off Savitar's blade. Already sensing a speedster team-up towards the end of the season.

Loved Savitar's line of "another victim Barry Allen failed to save!" that got Barry really angry, like a true villain should.

One more thing that Savitar keeps on saying is that H.R. is a pretender and he said that in the mid-season finale as well. I'm starting think there's more to this and we will find out what in a couple of episodes.

All in all this episode was fantastic, full of hints of who Savitar could truly be and it progressed the Savitar storyline in a really good way.

Character development ... seems to be, but not really
apd828 February 2018
From Season 1 Episode 1 until this point (Season 3 Episode 15), this team hurts many many many many several several infinite times from keeping secrets, lies, deciding to show-off by one's self. How many time that we hear "No, I can do this (on my own without consulting someone else or without help from others)." or "I'm fine (while actually seeing things, feeling things but I decided to keep it to myself). This seems like they never learned from the past (well, even though time lines were altered, but hey they didn't lose ALL of their memories, did they?)

Aren't the writers tired of writing the same line over and over and over and over in many many episodes? I DO BELIEVE that you guys CAN develop a really good story without using the same FLAWS of the characters over and over and over.

I have not seen the rest of the episodes yet, but I'm hoping for new ideas for expanding the story, not just new villains, new worlds, or new time lines with OLD ways to create them.

Where's Wally?
rwseidel4 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Wally's mother becomes the latest illusion affecting his speed performance as an avatar of Savitar, available directly to him without the intervention of Vibe or of other members of the team. In the usual mind -bendingly mindlessness of the tribe, Wally is sucked into the Speed Force allowing Savitar to emerge from his captivity there leaving Wally in his place for eternity. Flash reacts violently and attempts to kill Savitar, who explains the he is the future. Although stabbed through his clavicle, the Flash is saved, ironically, by his staff doctor, who opened the door to the whole episode by holding onto a piece of the Philosopher's Stone shed from the Flash's injection of Savitar into the Speed Force in the first place, hoping to shed her super cold power with it. Is it irony or is idiocy? Only the writers know for sure

This ain't no King Shark ep
imakk20019 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
which had a Barry who came up with a spur of the moment plan all by himself to defeat King Shark after the initial plan failed, snatching victory from the jaws(!) of defeat. And the execution of his plan was a sight to behold. That was a true hero moment. One year later, we get this: Barry doing nothing while Wally gets pulled into the Speed Force. And that's on top of these "gems":

  • show's idea of mentor/mentee interaction is mentor hypocritically getting on mentee's case

  • Jesse doing nothing while Wally is having a really LONG convo with SavitarVanessa

  • Iris decides she can't accept Barry's proposal after all because he didn't do it out of love but it's OK that she hooked up with him because other people/multiverse/future said so and not because she loves him

  • team flash are morons who absolutely refuse to learn from their own mistakes

Barry Allen needs to die already

I don't care how many people find this useless. It's got to be said. So, I'm saying it.
Carycomic10 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This third season has reached the point where the angst is crossing the line into overly and needlessly maudlin. As if the show's writers were over-compensating for that campy two-parter involving Grodd! But, I didn't mind that once they had the cliff-hanger when Barry proposed to Iris (and she evidently said "yes"). Then Joe had to go and spoil things by saying:

"I thought you were going to ask my permission, first."

Yo, Joe! Iris and Barry are both over 21. So, legally, they really don't _need_ your permission. As for the parental blessing aspect? Isn't that strictly a Roman Catholic thing?

Now, I understand there's another crossover coming up with Supergirl. A song-and-dance episode, at that! Please, God, no!! It was intolerable enough when Joss Whedon did on BTVS, and twice as bad the two times too many it was done on XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS!!!

I am seriously beginning to hope Savitar kills off the whole cast of characters so there's no Season 4, at all.
