Not bad
heydiddlediddle00713 February 2019
For all the nay sayers, why watch a film to the end if it's so terrible? It's not a bad flick, I love the female lead and hope the actress finds huge success in that industry

Not A Pile of crap
michaelarmer24 September 2019
This film is what it is, low budget, the scenery is lovely, but it was boring, and it has a environmentally friendly angle to it, the problem is true Vikings were not environmentally friendly, the reason they invaded other lands is because they could not find more land to farm in in their own countries, so they invaded others, with the bonus of being able to plunder as they went, so I assume they included it in this film to attract the environmentally friendly audience. If they wanted it to look like a real viking world, they probably succeeded as true life is a lot more boring than a movie, even in Viking days.

The acting was not great but not awful, there are some good actors in this film, Terence Stamp stands out a mile as one of the best, it was just sort of placid. The big problem was the direction and editing, and the mystic angle (like someone else pointed out), with a better director and good editor I think this could have had the makings of a great film, I don't know if either are well rated but if they were they both had an off-day with this one. Also the music was not great, sort of a meandering dreary tone to it, if it had a more upbeat soundtrack similar to an earlier Viking film with Kirk Douglas in it, it would have improved it by about 50%. If someone better took the same story and actors, using the same locations I'm sure they could have made a cracking film.

I give it a 5 for the scenery and realism.

It could have been good but ended up being average
phoenixinvictus15 August 2018
I've seen a lot worse and I think that this movie could have been a lot better if they had dropped the supernatural element. I enjoy Terrace Stamp who has an impressive voice and it saddened me to see him wasted as Odin. This could have been a great movie because it had a strong female lead, betrayal, intrigue and revenge. Instead, it relies on a bunch of villain clichés and over the top acting. Like I said, the elements were all there but they stumbled towards the endgame.

Dreadful
karinebdc11 August 2018
Absolutely dreadful! Bad acting, highly predictable and the plot is so simple that the film can only entertain a 12 year old.

Could have been so much better

Warning: Spoilers
I gave this title two out of ten largely in that the costume was half-way passable - that and the behaviour of Loki throughout was reasonably in keeping with who he is. As for the rest, insipid acting, lame fight scenes and a cliched story. At first I could tolerate it but when the heroine Helle comes across the community of wandering peace-loving foragers I wrote the whole thing off. this decision was borne out by the climactic fight scene when usurper Bard confronts them with his band of mercenaries these unarmed, untrained people fight back and AREN'T slaughtered in two blinks of an eye - despite the support of Loyalists from Volsung just strikes me as absurd. The sad thing is the basic story - true heir fighting to regain inheritance - is one of the core plots of storytelling but here was handled so poorly it's sad. Once again, full marks to Loki.

Gods and pile of tosh
patjoehar11 August 2018
If your expecting a good story well written and brilliantly acted out you've come for the wrong film. Terrance Stamp and Will Mellor must be skint. Two quality actors, one steaming pile of dung. The acting is terrible, the script is worse and as for effects I think they spent the budget in the bar. I tried to give it no stars but IMDB won't accept that.

Ignore the bad reviews
lonetrombone27 December 2018
Yes, this is a low-budget movie, but it hardly deserves a 1/10. An honest rating would be 6 or 7. If you enjoy action movies and girl power, it's worth seeing.

Cringe worthy!
joncov-4617728 July 2019
Whoever said "don't believe the low reviews" must have watched a different movie. This isn't the worst movie you will ever have watched but it is still a bad movie. It reminded me of an episode of Star Trek the original series. Very low budget sets and costumes and a story that is as unbelievable as it is dull. Some of the fight scenes made you want to laugh out loud. It was like watching a mock Viking battle in the fields of York. I think most of the good reviews are from people who were swept away by the lead character. She was indeed a beauty and managed to stay looking perfect throughout the whole film, despite sleeping rough, running around the hills and forests and engaging in fights with men more than 3 times my size never mind hers!

Great Viking Fantasy
deshawn-5970718 September 2018
First of all, it's an independent film so it doesn't have the budget of a certain superhero film that came out earlier this year. That said, if you know this going in, you can see this film in the correct light. The acting is spot on and the storyline along with the action kept me engaged. I purchased the Blu-ray and watched it a couple of different times. The ending left open the possibility of a sequel and I would love to see this story continue. Anna Demetriou really stood out as Princess Helle.

Parental guidance is needed for a sex scene and of course, violence. All in all though, the movie is excellent and I recommend checking it out for yourself.

Viking Warrior Princess
misbegotten2 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The British film industry has quietly been responsible for several low budget, direct-to-DVD viking movies during the last few years, including VIKINGS: THE DARKEST DAY (2013), VIKINGS: THE BESERKERS (2014) VIKING LEGACY (2016), VIKING SIEGE (2017) and THE LOST VIKING (2018). This entry in the genre was filmed as VIKING DESTINY (and is being released in the US under that title) but underwent a last minute name change in the UK and was released as OF GODS AND WARRIORS (personally, I prefer the original title). It boasts crisp photography, effective and well directed action scenes, and good performances from the entire cast, apart from a clearly bored Terence Stamp as Odin, who recites his lines in a weary monotone and does just enough to earn his pay-cheque. The narrative mostly moves along briskly, though there are some pacing problems during the second half of the film, when the on-the-run heroine encounters a co-operative of happy-clappy, vegetarian flower-people and understandably everything goes rather flat. But that minor quibble aside, this is an enjoyable watch. The final scene hints at a sequel, and I hope we get one.

Looked promising... but not

Warning: Spoilers
A lot of overacting in this movie. I wasted 90 minutes of my life watching this. Every cliche is in it and the fight scenes are unrealistic to a laughable degree. The flashbacks with surnatural beings is quite confusing and way too distracting.

Film school project?
michael-lobello26 August 2020
Seriously...Why did they make this film if they only had $10 in the budget? The few people floating around in each scene look more like Monty Python than a modern action/adventure. Did the producers say "let's see how low on the film experience scale we can go before the audience notices?" but i digress. . .

WITH THAT SAID, I thought the premise was intriguing and the acting by Anna Demetriou (Helle) was very good. I did not recognize Terence Stamp (Odin) since I have not seen him act in anything since his magnificent portrayal of General Zod in the original "Superman." I know its been 40 years but the guy looks nothing like he used to......anyway.....

Plot elements had to move along rather quickly (from sex scene to marriage in about 5 sec..hmmm) most likely due to budget constraints. The area itself was nice but looks more like England than somewhere farther north. I would have loved to get to know the characters better and seen a more complicated story line had it been in the budget. Overall worth watching if there's nothing else on TV at 2 am.

Just run
awery1315 August 2018
This thing made my blood boil hot enough to post my first review...

If that's not enough for you, I did watch it all and it is a disgrace. There is nothing to redeem this for me. YMMV, though I cannot see how this could be redeemed. They had very sharp lenses if you want to count a plus but that was it - everything else is a mess of confusing story, misjudged soundtrack, awful screenplay and bad acting.

Save yourself 90 minutes of pain and do something more fun, like watching grass grow...

Hold out for a while
petkanasw28 November 2019
This seems like a cheap knockoff of Game of Thrones (and it is) with nothing to recommend it, not even so bad its good... until... Queen Helle meets the hippies. Then it's a riot! Loved it: Monty Python meets Jackie Chan meets The A Team meets Game of Thrones.

Not a bad flick
donancricchiasaverio10 August 2018
It was a decent flick, entertaining. Few things though, the lore is a bit off. Odin has only one eye. The gods dont live in Valhalla, they live in Asgard. Also, they made Loki to be too much like the christian devil, and thats not really his thing. Either than that, entertaining.

"Viking" Destiny? I don't think so.
mckenzie-boyle23 February 2019
Granted, I only made it through about fifteen minutes of this movie, but from what I did watch, the writers seem to have done very little research about the Vikings. The whole thing reads a lot more like a story set in medieval England or Scotland than it does as a Viking story. Culture, clothing, customs, all full of anachronisms and inaccuracies. This is exemplified in one of the first scenes as we see two characters fighting - one wielding a very Scottish claymore. They may as well have been wearing tartan kilts.

Add to the mountain of anachronisms the feeble story and painfully droll dialogue and you are left with a pretty boring and hard to watch film. If you look through the reviews of Viking Destiny, many of its defenders will cite it's low budget and independent film status as reasons to cut it some slack, and yes, if it's worst errors had been things such as poor costume design, bad lighting, etc - maybe that would have been an excuse, but there is not excuse for bad writing, and that's where this movie falls down the most. In fact, it's only saving grace is that the actors do a valiant job of trying to wring as much character as they can out of the dry and uninspired writing - not that it does much good.

Overall, Viking Destiny is unequivocally a failure. Absolutely not worth a watch if you have any expectations whatsoever.

This movie was good!
alexmwhitaker24 February 2019
It's a fun Celtic heir to the throne flick. Acting was not bad. Plot was predictable but decent. Cinematography and FX were good for the budget. Could definitely see my daughter enjoying this as an expansion on a Merida character type from Disney. All in all, I was impressed by the work. I am giving it 10/10 to outweigh the nay sayers. Looking forward to another from this director and these actors.

It's Kink. But It's My Kind of Kink.
bemyfriend-4018422 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
At first, this LOOKED like Game of Thrones. It even has Ser Meryn Trant, from G. O. T.! Then well, it wasn't written by George R. R. Martin. It's sort of a Red Sonja/Bridget Neilsen kinda story. Or even the 1984 version of She; with Sandahl Bergman. But if you like girls acting tough and killing men, then this is for you. The actress is beautiful. The fights, contrary to the reviews of many here, are not-that-bad. And it is sexy. Seen on Tubi, the free streaming site, which has many movies; and now even streams live TV.

Viking version of Lara Croft!!!!
hasancan16 February 2019
The actress choice is terrible. She looks like coming out of her desk job at the bank and played in this movie! Too many cliches. Bad writing. There is more but not going to bother continue writing. Enjoy the show if you dare! :)

It is a curse for a child to be born with an absent father
nogodnomasters8 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Helle (Anna Demetriou) must regain the throne usurped by her uncle with the help of the gods, a few good men, and some hippies. The film had elements of a Shakespearian drama, Nietsche philosophy, and Woodstock along with subtitles in both English and Spanish.

The theme, which is repeated too often, is "It is a curse for a child to be born with an absent father" even if the father is just outside the door fighting off invaders. What is the limit?

In spite of the interesting plot, the film doesn't put it together. The fighting didn't make it. The dialogue was phony. Overall, it was not convincing and please stop with all the blonde Vikings.

Guide: sex and nudity. No swearing.
