Warning: Spoilers
Well, a 7,5 really.

I've watched this ep two times now and still don't know what to think of it. My gut tells me this isn't the season finale I'd expected, that's for sure.

While the President was a nice character in Get Schwifty, he feels off as a primary antagonist in this episode. And although the dynamic between the US government and Rick makes for some amusing moments, it's not the first time an entire world waged war on Rick. And to be honest, at times the humor was bordering on Family Guy level.

Also, please be modest with the fourth walls will you? It's a fun device, but such top notch writers should know how to preserve its value.

I'm ambivalent about the ending. Although it's pretty obvious Beth and Jerry would somehow get together at some point (Jerry not being a suitable character to keep including in a rogue role IMO), I was somehow disappointed. I felt a bit betrayed by an otherwise good writing team making this move. Beth as a single had so much more potential.

Altogether, the lows of this episode consisted largely of lazy/overused devices and jokes.

I think the quality of this finale will depend on how the show will proceed in season 4. Perhaps the return to the good old Smith family from previous seasons ensures character consistency, a factor so very important for the survival of any series. Perhaps in hindsight this episode will feel more instrumental and its flaws more justifiable.

And that's why I'm looking forward so much to the next season. The Rickchurian Mortydate was not a great episode, but still entertaining, and in many ways promising for the season to come.

This was pure madness!

Warning: Spoilers
This episode may not be as "strong" as others but this has been one of my most watched episodes in the Rick and Morty series.

The sheer audacity of Rick to wage war against The President just because he wants his grandson's wish of taking a selfie with The President fulfilled is crazy!

A Refreshing Reset to a Whirlwind of a Season
DoubleOscar2 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know about you but this finale felt like a breath of fresh air in a season filled with so many recurring and developing story-lines. This season included everything from the re-emergence of the citadel led by Evil Morty, to the intricate family dynamics of the Smith's, all the way to other random things like Pickle Rick. To me, the season (while fantastic) was begging for something that it could all be brought back to and rooted in. In this case, the show chose to cycle back to its roots in family.

As a standalone episode, The Rickchurian Mortydate is also just really entertaining. The physical fighting between Rick and the President coupled with the signature banter and fourth wall breaking (specifically the signature in the shows premieres and finales) always had me smiling. In the end though, fans are going to judge this finale not only based on how well it wraps up the events from during the season, but also how well it lays the groundwork for the inevitable following season. It's here where I think fans are going to be divided. On one hand, much like the show Silicon Valley, this finale essentially hit a reset button for the characters which sets up what to expect from the next season. Beth even says how we can expect it to be like season 1, but more streamlined. On the other hand, however, it leaves many of the developed story-lines from the season up the air, without even a mention.

Overall, I found this finale to be a satisfying conclusion to another fantastic season. I can see this being an extremely polarizing way to leave the viewers hanging, but that only gets me even more excited for season 4.

S3: Continues the high standard and makes it look pretty easy

All too quickly I join the ranks of people waiting for the distant arrival of season 4 of Rick and Morty. I have boxsetted my way through this and the previous seasons, even if I did delay watching this season by a month or so. The season returns on the back of the cliffhanger from the previous season, and deals with it well. From there we have consistently good episodes which are all built on a solid narrative and character base. The split of the family, the feelings of the characters, all are well played out but none of that ever stops the episodes being consistently inventive and funny.

The internet memes are all here (Pickle Rick for instance), but there is plenty beyond such comedy moments, and I enjoyed things like the character element of that episode, as well as the darker thread continued in Tales From the Citadel. All based on smart observation and dark imagination, these elements do give the show a strong bed on which to deliver everything else. I'm close to being a copy/pasta on that, and I continue to dislike the snobbish fan base, but the show itself is hard not to enjoy on many levels, and the third season is a consistent reminder of that.

I could tell it was ending
ericstevenson6 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This episode features the President getting help from Rick and Morty with various things and then realizing how annoying they are. This episode had great joke after great joke. The one that really made me laugh was when Rick and Morty were doing a "Minecraft" parody and Rick said "South Park" already did it. As "South Park" is a show that's easy to animate, he then mentions how that show is either too fast or they're too slow. Probably a combination of both. As hilarious as this episode was, the action was great. We get to see the President fight Rick using all these cool weapons and agents.

Beth spends the episode wondering if she's a clone and is therefore expendable. It ends with Jerry and Beth actually getting back together. I'm impressed this whole ordeal managed to last an entire season. Beth even acknowledges that hopefully things will go back to normal like Season 1. I also loved the part where Rick said they could be holograms or something played by the real Rick and Morty. I think that was actually a reference to another "South Park" episode. I could tell with a revelation that big that the season would be ending. ****

Great ending to the best season yet!
boxing-388011 October 2017
Seeing Rick fighting the president alone is worth 10 outta 10. To me that's all that really needs to be said. Talking about the season and episodes references and meaning can be great but have also turned the fan base against each other at points due to others claiming that they're intellectually superior to everyone. If there's anything I personally and maybe other people have learned from the show is how we can take this on. We're able to see character molds and flaws in all types of people. Rick, Morty, Beth, Jerry, Summer, and even the president now. It's a world of people with problems in every nature and that's what makes this show so good to me. It's always fair so nobody is seen in any high horse saddle for long. I'm hype for season 4 and ready to see more of Rick and Morty soon or maybe in a long time according to Mr. Poopybutthole.

Warning: Spoilers
The plot was extremely good with lots of action and the way that Rick meddles with the President is amazing. He makes himself completely invulnerable against the President and causes all the trouble just for a selfie! The whole episode was so FUNNY! This one of the greatest episodes ever. Supremely good!

Never trust R&M's authors
pedrofjr5 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
We have seen this happening before. When they advertise the trailer of the episode and you expect a self-contained adventure in Atlantis, then you get Evil Morty's return (maybe you expected something different from what was advertised, but hardly could be sure, even if it was considered the hypothesis, that they would bring Evil Morty back in that episode). There were people expecting that this episode would show Rick confronting another president (Ricks' Citadel's, not USA), then it didn't happen. So, if they're saying that third season is over, maybe it isn't. If Mr. PBH said after the episode's credits that it'll take a long time until the next episode, maybe it'll be released as soon as next Sunday or it won't take very long to, maybe airing at Christmas' eve (so it would make sense to see him with a Santa Claus' beard). Maybe these possibilities are too obvious and so it means that they're not going to happen too. Anyway, this episode was good, and I'm sure that more people would recognize it as a great episode if it wasn't a season's finale. If some people just "get schwifty" and enjoy the plot, the jokes and all the nice stuff shown in every episode, not worrying about specific expectations, then they will probably improve their experience (I'm trying to do so, sometimes it's not easy but it's also not that hard). Sometimes it's clear that the writers just want to joke around and I think that it's fine, this seems to be one of the goals of this show. It's also good that this time we don't need to wait about 18 months just to know how Rick will escape prison, for example. As a Brazilian, I've noticed that the scenes in Brazil have two very different standards as the first speech is OK and well pronounced and the other one is mispronounced and seems to be a bad translation from English. For me, it seemed to be done intentionally, as a way to show, again, that they know how to produce good content, how to make things the right way and how to give what the audience wants, but sometimes they just prefer to make another joke (remember that nothing really matters, nothing is special, let's watch TV). I think that maybe cop Morty is right and if we're going to have some kind of expectation, we should "expect the unexpected". Or just expect to have a good time watching each episode, ignoring any other kind of expectation, as this show seems to be good at surprising its viewers. I don't think that Rick & Morty would be better if it was some way more predictable or more aligned to its viewers' expectations, and let's say that this show is particularly prone to be, as there are so many theories and speculation about it everywhere. In the next episode we'll see everything happening like in season one again... Or maybe not. Maybe all we've seen this far was their holograms remotely controlled by robots that the true Rick and Morty control or even that everything was just simulated as a virtual reality game. Anything is possible. Great. At least eight more seasons, Morty.

Good commentary on relationship with fans
krkkoala7 June 2020
The Rick and Morty creators express their frustrations with fans trying to control the direction of the series represented by this clever clash between Rick and the president of the United States. With that context in mind, it holds up as a solid episode.

In a parallel dimension Ricklantis Mixup was aired as season finale
petrow-313084 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
OK, this part could have much higher rating, were it not to close the season. It was pretty much like Pickle Rick in dynamic - Rick's (and in the beginning, Morty's) crazy adventure, in contrast with the slower side-story of Beth's insecurities about being a clone.

The good: * The president part. Their duel was full of with crazy moments, and it was good to see a previous protagonist as a main antagonist.

The bad: * The side-line after Beth made out with Jerry, and the final four- and-a-half minutes. After fleshing out the Smith story-line throughout the entire season, this conclusion was rather rushed, and left a sour taste after all this preparation. * The after credits.

I am sure that binge-watchers, like, 6 years later won't understand the low rating of this episode, but right now it left some empty space beyond it. Whereas the other season finales seemed complete, even with the deliberate promise of continuing the story, this one lacks the cool-handedness of "Ricksy Business", and the dark, emotional tone of "The Wedding Squanchers". Oh, and the darkest thing so far is Rick still didn't get his Szechuan Teriyaki dipping sauce!

Ending season3
amindostiari28 January 2021
This episode as the last episode had to answer the questions, and one of those questions was whether Jerry and Beth would get back together? They answered this question in the best way and I liked it. The story of Rick and Mr. President was also interesting. Calendar for the fourth season!

I love Rick and Morty. It is one of the best shows on TV right now. I did like this episode. I just expected more from the finale. The first half is great. The plot takes a different direction in the second half. It all felt like it was building towards something, but, nothing really happened. It just ended. A bit disappointing for a finale, especially since the season 2 finale was one of the best episodes they ever did. If you are a fan, you will probably enjoy this episode, just do not expect too much from it.

Feeling sad and...a little bored.
schwietza-752772 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Despite the potential to finish a great season on a strong note, this finale is missing a lot. Rick's fight with the President is fun but feels like a throwback to Pickle Rick with lots of badass inventions that serve no purpose other than proving how smart Rick is, which we already know. The writers tried to make the President into an antagonist, instead of bringing back more dangerous villains like Tammy and Phoenixperson or Evil Morty. Nonetheless, the President is an entertaining character that could be developed in future seasons, and he certainly makes the episode exciting through his stubbornness.

The side story with Beth's re-connection with Jerry feels rushed, as we were only introduced to the possibility of Beth being a clone last episode and the divorce only happened earlier this season. With both Beth and Rick reaching a new level of maturity last episode, it didn't make sense that The Rickchurian Mortydate ended the way it did. Additionally, it seemed that Rick and Jerry had become closer this season, which seemed to completely vanish when Rick found out Beth and Jerry were back together. The idea that Beth may or may not be a clone adds a mysterious dynamic to the family, but it doesn't provide even close to the same cliff-hanger that we got at the end of season 2. This finale is disappointing, but does not fail to be clever and amusing.

Started good and funny then it all went to.. crap.
DoxMe1 October 2017
This episode had the potential of becoming as big as the Ricklantis Mixup, but god dammit they screwed up the ending. Everything is back where it started. Breaking the fourth wall is becoming really stupid and they have to stop it. It takes 2 years to produce one season, and they ended this season with god awful ending. Disappointing..

Anyway the episode still had some good humor, but it is the season finale and it felt like a normal episode.

Fun random season
anselmdaniel23 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This review contains spoilers.

Rick and Morty's tenth episode in the third season is entitled "The Rickchurian Mortydate". RIck and Morty are called upon by the president of the United States to defeat a monster under the White House.

The Rickchurian Mortydate is a fun but meaningless final episode in the third season. The episode has funny characters like the president returning and making an appearance. Nothing of note happens in this episode but it is still a fun episode.

I would recommend "The Rickchurian Mortydate", the final episode of season three.

Grade: C

Rick and Morty Season Three

Rick and Morty's third season is a fun season that subverts many popular tropes found in modern stories. The episodes in this season are overall solid with certain episodes as a stand-out: "The Rickshank Redemption", "Rickmancing the Stone", "Pickle Rick", "Rest and Ricklaxation", and "The ABC's of Beth".

Rick and Morty's third season has a problem where the season is meandering. The season does not have any arcs besides Beth's. None of this is particularly engaging and the episodes do a fine job on small level moments. The episodes do have a quick pace that moves a mile a minute.

I would recommend Rick and Morty season three.

Grade: B.

trash cringe
bot_liam2 October 2017
Morty's lines were cringe. humor was immature like a kids show. episodes are getting worse every time. This episode sums up all the bad that has been taking place it shows the decline of the humor and feel that it once had its turning into a kids cartoon they need to stop Focusing on the family and the part with the mini people could have been so much better I compare this episode to a Simpsons episode level of humor and a family guys level of cutting about two different trash stores

It is Wednesday, my dudes
joeravioli3 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
To be fair, the final episode of season 3 of Rick and Morty is pretty solid. It's kinetic, crude, and highly entertaining, integral aspects of season 1 and 2 that most of season 3 saw fit to substitute with gore and the exploration of characters nobody really cares about. The only problem is that it's both the finale and a complete filler episode at the same time. The only thing that (arguably) distinguishes this episode from any other is the family reunion, which isn't exactly what I'd call finale material.

Everyone except for the die-hard fanbase (which has about as much sense as an onion) has gripes with this season. Personally, I thought this season betrayed the standard Rick and Morty formula, which was driven by novel, interesting concepts involving eccentric and memorable characters. In this season, the characters (most of whom are given repressively human characteristics) defined the concepts for the most part, leading to altogether boring plots that seemed to serve no other purpose than to pick apart characters that needed no picking apart in the first place. A curious consequence of this narrative shift is that any attempts at emotional resonance fell flat, simply because I knew to expect it.

The show felt pretty dumb this time around. It had none of the hilarity of M. Night Symhasjdhkajshdkasjh-aliens, the wrenching strangeness of Rick Potion #9, the thrill of The Ricks Must be Crazy, the genius of Total Rickall, or the honest emotion of The Wedding Squanchers.

While I'm not going to pretend that I came up with this myself, The Ricklantis Mixup would have been a much, much better finale than this one. The "finale" they chose is, while better than what came before, completely ordinary and forgettable. Such a shame.

(It's actually tuesday but I like frogs)

This episode was very good in the begginings but... what happened in the end?? It was very dissapointing to see Beth taking Jerry's side and not caring weither Rick leaves or not. Just hoping that Beth is a clone and that she didn't make that stupid decision. Jerry is a loser.

Oh my god... Welcome to the club everyone; the waiting for season 4 club. Those who waited for seasons 2 and/or 3 will know how it is..

It was disappointing that we didn't get to see president Morty again, but the episode was very good. We got to see more of Rick's bodily enhancements, and more insight into his nihilism, and further characterization of Beth. The family subplot was very moving for me, that despite all Rick's amazing capabilities, he still can't have the relationship with his family that he wants.

This is what Rick Potion #9 was warning us about, broh. Season 3 has gone to heck and Rick is a sadistic God who chooses who will live and who will die.
adampkalb20 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Oh my Rick. Season 3 was leading up to this. Do you remember all of those cybernetic upgrades Rick suddenly got in The Rickshank Rickdemption, Vindicators 3, The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy, and The ABCs of Beth? It looks like they finally turned Rick into full villain territory. Of course he's the God that he claims doesn't exist because he let the world stay a grotesque cronenberg mess in Rick Potion #9! What did he do here that was so horrible in this episode? He killed 12 of the president's bodyguards just because he wanted the president to give him a selfie with Morty and avoids any punishment he could have gotten for it. Any reason why we were supposed to root for Rick from the beginning of the series is suddenly gone because he's too bad now. He's almost as evil of an anti-hero as Supernova. It really sickens me that he let her go when she killed 2 other Vindicators who weren't killed by Rick's Saw-like game, but he made 12 people in the white house die when they didn't deserve it. Are we supposed to find this funny? Because it's not funny. It's just cruel. Thank Rick Season 3 was so short, because half of its episodes (#4, #7, #8, #9, #10) keep throwing unnecessary violence in our faces and that poop doesn't stick to the wall because it slips off and hits the fan. Rick Potion #9 and Raising Gazorpazorp from Season 1 foretold that Rick would decay from an anti-hero who still had some humanity in him to an invincible villainous god who has the power to kill presidential authorities just for touching him. In this episode, it's even easier for a character to suddenly die without me realizing it than all those guys in the The Simpsons episode Any Given Sundance. Rick might as well team up with Supernova because they're both very evil heroes, and I hope Morty teams up with Mr. Goldenfold, Tammy, Phoenix Person, and his dog friends from Lawnmower Dogs to kill both of them in Season 4, which they will in its 10th and final episode. Sigh. I really miss Mr. Goldenfold, Tammy and Bird Person and I hated their absence in Season 3 after The Rickshank Rickdemption. They were the 3 coolest supporting characters that this show ever had. Brandon Johnson, Cassie Steele, Dan Harmon, if you're reading this message, please come back for Season 4! Oh, and to answer your question about how knocking someone out is a deterrent-it either allows you to get away or gives that person a chance to learn to not touch you again. Just because they could come after you again is no excuse to give yourself touch-kill powers, or else sexual harassers would have no chance to learn from their mistakes, so stop sentencing people to death, Rick! I don't care if there are more of those 12 people you killed in other universes. In this universe's jurisdiction, you should be jailed for life or executed for unnecessary instant death sentences! I don't know what's worse-Gumball and Darwin getting abused by everyone else in the universe 25% of The Amazing World of Gumball's episodes or Rick abusing everyone else in the universe in 25 % of Rick and Morty's episodes, but it depends on how far the abuse goes. Actually, if Rick makes it too easy for people coming after him to die just by touching him, he's the worse abuser by default. No, Rick, infinity universes is not an excuse to make impossible instant death a deterrent like knocking out isn't enough to make them learn their lesson. It's also no excuse to kill random people like nobody else would care and your opinion is the only one that matters, because death sentences to anyone who touches you is still wrong no matter what universe you are in. I'm looking at you, Vindicators 3. Rick and Morty's episodes are sucking more and more and becoming more unfunny and unenjoyable because they think that having episodes with anything positive happening like Lawnmower Dogs, Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind, A Rickle in Time, Get Schwifty and The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy would be boring, but they were not. And yet almost nobody complains about Rick and Morty's worst episodes when they get worse than Modern Family Guy, instead choosing to treat Rick Potion #9 and Vindicators 3 like they're great for the show when they're not.

Rick and Morty S3: There's something great left.
edicionccq29 December 2019
After that season 2 finale, many expectations were put into the third season of "Rick and Morty" but the truth is that it was quite a waste of time. The expectations were too high, and the final product was a season full of highs and lows. Let me explain by reviewing really fast every episode.

3x01 - "The Rickshank Rickdemption" is one of the most amazing episodes of the show. It has one of the most amazing storylines, it continues where the season finale left it and it shows you how badass Rick is. Also, it makes you feel like this season would have a little bit more of continuation. 10/10

3x02 - "Rickmancing the stone" is one of the worst episodes of the show actually, it's a parody to mad max and it doesn't bring up any to the table. You probably forget about this episode after watching it.

3x03 - "Pickle Rick" is one good episode. It's an episode focus on how smart and resourceful is Rick and how he can beat whatever he wants. Also, it is really good introspective to the Smith family. 9/10

3x04 - "Vindicators 3: The return of worldlender" is just fire garbage. I mean, the message of heroes can be as bad as anyone else is great but it's a dumb parody of the avengers/guardians of the galaxy style with nothing to offer. You don't care about any of these new characters except for Noob Noob that guy gets it. 6/10

3x05 - "The whirly dirly conspiracy" is actually great. There's a funny adventure between Rick and Jerry and it's funny to see these kinds of interactions. The secondary plot shows how Morty is evolving as a character. 9/10

3x06 - "Rest and Ricklaxation" is one of my favorite episodes of the show. It shows how great the comedy and sci-fi in this show is. It's a funny adventure with character development and great villains. 10/10

3x07 - "The Ricklantis Mixup" I mean what's left to say about this episode. It's a masterpiece and one of the most successful episodes in IMDB. 10/10

3x08 - "Morty's mind blowers" is one episode that you don't remember. Really, I don't recall any good joke, meme or something about this episode. 3/10

3x09 - "The ABC'S of Beth" a good episode when it comes to the Beth plot, I mean, she never gets so much depth like in this episode and it lets you with many questions. But the secondary plot is boring 7/10

3x10 - "The Rickchurian Mortydate" what's the point of this episode and why it has to be the season finale. Rick again fights the president to prove that he is a badass... That's a redundancy. He already proves that he is a badass in pickle rick and it was more exciting than this episode. 2/10

Now I know what goes wrong. They have many ideas, but they execute them in a really forgettable way for half of the episodes. I mean, the half of the season is great but the other half is bad. This season gets 7 out of 10.

benowen-912071 October 2019
Honestly, this episode is really funny. It carries the humour that the show is known for an executes some great jokes in the the a plot. THE A PLOT Yes that is my biggest problem honestly, the B plot might be the worst thing rick and Morty has done, including pickle rick's One. It brings up the one thing I genuinely thought was great about the previous episode and spoils it, all for a boring status quo finale. Beth as a character has always sucked and watching her finally change at the end was interesting but the show kind of hit the rest button Funny episode bad finale (controversial opinion I know) This is my biggest problem with season 3 in general, it feels to self aware aswell. It normally just says rick is smart and uses all these typical sci-fi devices. I think back to an episode like the season 2 premiere, which was so interesting just watching rick try to solve this impossibly absurd situation I hope season 4 is like the first 2 seasons, this show is no where near bad but a change in direction (ie no divorce plot) might make it reach new and better heights previously achieved

The worst finale
Mrs_Mcl8 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The worst finale to the worst season of Rick and Morty. I don't care what anyone says, Season 3 is godawful aside from a few episodes. So after the president gets Rick and Morty to sort out some creature running around the office or something, Rick and Morty get tired of the president needing their help all the time and decide to insult him behind his back which he finds out soon and the president and Rick and Morty become enemies. The rest of this plot is nothing but the president and Rick fighting, no interesting sci-fi concepts, and no reason to care. In the middle of the episode, Rick decides that Morty deserves a selfie from the president for some reason and refuses to leave the White House until it is done. Hilarious. Rick's unlikableness works in episodes like The Ricks Must be Crazy because there is an interesting plot that actually goes places and both Rick and the antagonist of that episode are both equally terrible unlikable people and you're not really supposed to like any of them. The president in this episode (while he's not so great in other episodes) is extremely likable in comparison to our annoying main protagonist, and you kinda want to see Rick get punched in the face because of it. Once again not helping is the utterly stupid plot about Rick just annoying the president for no reason. It does not evoke laughter. The subplot from this episode is about Beth worrying she is a robot and Rick, the smartest man in the universe reassures her that she is real but then asks if she's becoming self-aware which leads to her going back to Jerry and Rick being confused as to why that happened.
