Way Down we go

The end of brutal legal war has never been so beautifully made. But again, for those who love suits, You all know it is not just about just being a lawyer and pulling out a magic trick every now and then. Suits has definitely stepped up its level and came a long way since season one and now we all must admit This show has given us a new taste of TV. As everything unravels, it breaks your heart every second for a full 45 minutes. You feel the joy, the excitement, the sentiment that this show gives us in every scene. I can describe this finale as simply taking the best scenes of every episode in this amazing season and adding them together and still this episode comes out on top. Beautifully written, amazingly acted and the music again is just perfection! I am not one to discuss events or add spoilers because I just think every person should just watch and just feel the moment. So, just simply.. Watch, enjoy, feel, and be present to witness at this moment great TV being made in front of you! Because today, I can be sure to say that Suits has taken a special place in my heart, and no matter how many TV series comes along the way.. Ill be sure to always have suits right there in my list at the top. Season Six, I can't wait.. literally !

Suits is no longer the show that it was...
sachchidanandd4 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Suits season 5 was all about downfall of a king named Harvey Specter. He was a superman(and he still is, perhaps??) that can change the outcome of game by pulling tricks out of his hat and use his super manipulative powers to achieve desirable results. Season 5 on the other hand proved that he has weaknesses, he has shortcomings and no matter whatever he tells to Donna or the entire world, he can 'loose'. This episode underlined it.

When suits was at season 1, it displayed all the elements that can be seen in almost all generic TV shows. Season 5 turned that all upside down. Suits is no longer the show that it once was and it has changed forever. Will fans accept this change or not, will be heavily decided by season 6 and how writers will get all the characters out of this apocalypse.

Back to the episode, this episode was certainly one of the best TV series finales. It doesn't take the predictive route of protagonists somehow pulling over a win in the finale and getting rid of problems, but rather it makes the protagonist(Mike Ross) pay for his actions. In real life, actions have consequences(this is the theme that suits is following from 'Donna arc') and suits takes that difficult route in this finale and executes it comprehensively. Sending Mike Ross to prison may not be liked by few people, typically the ones that prefer classic television setup, but even they can't ignore that it was a revolutionary change.

Although, episode wasn't only about Mike and Harvey. It was also about the fate of 'Pearson Specter Litt', which is in huge jeopardy at the moment. Seeing Jessica and Louis walk through the empty firm was heartbreaking and the same time indication that Season 6 is also going to be about rejuvenation of the firm.

There are mistakes in this episodes, you can find them in every episode of every series for that matter, but the fact that Suits can actually take such a huge gamble made me give it 10/10. Superb work writers, acting cast and undoubtedly, the sound department. You just proved that this show is indeed legendary, looking forward to season 6.

Heartbreaking Season

If you can skip season I would recommend to do it.

If you can't then I suggest to pack up your largest box of tissues and watch because it will break every piece of your heart.

This is the best season I have ever watched on TV.

Wonderful episode
isaachr3 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
******* CONTAINS SPOILERS**********

I think that the last episode was absolutely beautiful, I don't think the fact that Mike, Harvey, Louis, Rachel, Jessica and Donna lost made the episode terrible; in fact I believe that it made the episode ten times better, because in too many films and TV shows right now, the protagonist will always win only due to the fact that the audience believes that he is the good guy, this episode connects with reality and shows that even the good guys fall, and not everyone has the perfect life, even though Mike knows it was his fault, he has come to accept it, and also accept the consequences, and the most beautiful thing that you see about Mike in this episode is that he has accepted all of this.

Hmm...

Warning: Spoilers
I'm not sure I quite like how this ended if I'm honest. This entire season has been phenomenal, but this finale felt forced.

Let's recap: what did the entire first half of this season feature most prominently? Harvey. It was all about Harvey and him learning from his mistakes. We learned a lot about his past and why he is the way he is from his therapy sessions. What I'm trying to illustrate is how well the writers set up his road to redemption. But this entire season then becomes illogical since it isn't Harvey who ends up going to prison.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Harvey's not going to prison - and I'm not pleased that Mike is - but the way the writers framed this entire season geared the finale towards Harvey taking the fall, and this ending completely contradicts all their hard work. It doesn't make sense to have focused on Harvey so consistently and to have so carefully constructed his character arc for this season only to throw it all away in the final episode.

This honestly feels as though near the end of writing the scripts someone senior came over to the writers and said: "Woah, Harvey going to prison? No way, we can't have that. It's gotta be Mike guys, sorry!" And then they just had to reverse their work at the last minute. That's what this feels like.

If you totally disagree with everything I'm saying, I urge you to go back and watch this season again from start to finish and you'll see what I mean.

Overall, this was a slightly underwhelming end to an otherwise fantastic season. I'll of course be tuning in later this year for season six, where I hope I'm proved wrong about this misdirection in the season finale.

Come clean....or die tryin'
rinbizorg8 August 2021
Season 5 was ALL OUT ON HARVEY. They aired his dirty laundry in whichever way they found fit. They forced him to open HIS Pandora box. They made him take a beating to break him. They made him fall into his kneels. They made him shed a tear.

The mighty Harvey was HUMAN.

He faced his past demons of his life. He TOOK a beating for a friend. He broke into TEARS all along.

......to overcome invincible in the end.

He was the last to see Mike going IN.

And I am dead sure that HE will be the first one to see Mike coming OUT.

Gabriel Macht....you've earned your Acting Degree with this Season for as much as Harvey Spectre deserved his Juris Degree.

Patrick, you are absolutely STELLAR throughout this mate. Absolutely.

Writers hit where it hurt the most
farzad-mohammadi8722 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
At the end, we finally saw the ending of the first plot line of suits, which was mike being hired by harvey.

Mike, as always, was genuine with himself and stayed up to his core value, which was saving his family, at the cost of going to jail. I think he knew eventually everything was going to be revealed and at least in this way he controlled the situation in a predictable manner (maybe mike and me are wrong at this moment, so we have to wait for future season to see how things will play out)

Luis remains a useless traitor as always (sorry if your a luis fan). At least, he managed to incease viewers' stress level (Not too useless)

Jessica faced consequences of her wish, which was harvey being more caring and responsible. She saw "harvey growing up" at the cost of her firm and reputation. But as harvey always says, she will live to fight for another day and this is because of this trait of her's that she has become so competent and respectful. I can't wait to see how she kicks some ass to get back what is her's (also with help of the idiot luis)

At last, mighty harvey specter proved to be a HUMAN just as everybody else. This season's main theme was showing this point about harvey and I think writers couldn't do better than this. He will also live to fight for another day and I think this new harvey will be more usefull for firm's current situation. But he shouldn't forget his old strengthes because sharks are smelling the blood and harvey, as always, is at the firm's front to face them.

I don't know how Mike's storyline will play out and whether he will come back for next season or not but I think we are expecting many all out war episodes in the coming season, which is perfect.

PEACE
Essay-Kun21 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It's over .

All of this was built up for this final moment .

SUITS has been the best series the west has ever produced .

This episode was tough to digest , I almost felt like someone had choked me .

The choices , the guilt , the sadness , the relief until it all played down to the time that it was meant to be that way and everybody knew one day would come when they're gonna rush coming to him .

As for not marrying Rachel .

A good decision , you never make a decision when you're too emotional logically and the very fact that she was left with nothing for 2 years . The risk wasn't worth it.

People change , People move on.

The only person I can trust that wouldn't change perhaps is HARVEY.

Everyone else will.

The way I see it , a sacrifice is forgotten easily .

And so these people who claim to be family won't be much of in 2 years .

And if they do claim to be then I guess I would gain some faith in this world .

When it comes to Individualism, people change .

It's being in the position of loosing everything to making it stand all again.

~ The biggest dilemma is what changes Mike Ross would go through .

Toxicity creates a huge impact.

Season 5 Review
estathena228 September 2021
The storm that's been brewing since the pilot begins to brew & grow strength calling on friends & foes alike. Excellent writing, plot development, & character growth. A true "tour-de-force" that puts you on the edge, holds you there, & throws you. Another masterful season that makes this series worth watching, loving, & watching again.

Had to Happen
Hitchcoc31 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I note that there are nine seasons and we just completed the fifth. Mike is going to prison because he took a deal instead of having faith. He and Rachel are postponing the wedding. Con one imagine the chances what it would be like y to be married under this cloud. The thing that drives this series is the unflappable nature of the lawyers, especially Harvey. But let's face it. Can we go through four more years of Mike trying to keep his secret. I'm intrigued as to how the next season will begin. Will Mike be making license plates? By the way, that prosecutor is one of the nastiest, most formidable people I've ever seen in any drama series. The faux wedding with Robert (whom I find utterly disgusting) and his wife growling at everyone, is an appropriate ending. Harvey and Mike's meeting outside the prison is really poignant.

Loved this season, not sure about the ending but..
abandonedbuilding10 June 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I loved this season, all the intensity and drama. I think this was my favorite season, though I know it was a bit controversial. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Sorkin chose this, he likes to make decisions that scare him. I hope Rachel and Mike stay together. I think they should have gotten married because without conjugal visits and stuff I don't think either will survive very well. And the idea that the board would turn her down because of mike, ugh, makes me want to scream. I didn't like the choice that Sorkin made about Mike going to jail, but I am curious about next season and while some viewers have complained this ending is ruining the show, I disagree. This is no way on the scale of (for example) the horrible Dexter ending. For one thing. this isn't the ending! For another, just because I wish Mike got out doesn't mean I don't respect Sorkin's decision. I'll just have to see how next season goes.

I still don't feel like Mike committed a crime. Where I live he wouldn't have had to go to school, just intern for a few years. I feel it's ridiculous that people think he should go away for this. He practices law better than other attorneys. He is a lawyer in my book.He passed the bar; that should be good enough. So what if he said he went to Harvard. Law should be changed. (I guess I disagree with the show-runner that he needs to be punished.)

And poor Rachel! And poor everyone that didn't run away (like 3 people.) This sucks. And I hate that Mike didn't wait. Excited for next season.

I like the drama behind this show, I did not like season 3 where it was Mike practicing outside Jessica/Harvey's office. So I'm glad they really focused on that. While I hope Mike gets out, I will keep watching no matter where this goes.

Perfect Ending
zoazitta1 July 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I understand why people complain about the heavy drama instead of the light and upbeat atmosphere the show used to have. However, this heavy ending makes sense. I can't ask for smart and witty escape every time, I mean Harvey managed to save Mike for 5 seasons. It will become very unreal to escape again, and unless Mike is actually indicted, the case against him can always re-open when new evidence appears. Don't forget that criminals should be punished regardless of how harmless their crime appears to us (in his case he is a good and smart lawyer, what if a corrupted person became a fraud lawyer?)

Honestly, I re-watched this episode above 5 times. The beautiful relationship between Harvey and Mike are my favourite scenes. Both feeling guilty and protective in case of Harvey. The conversation at the end is gold, especially with the Shawshank redemption reference :) Also, I am really happy Mike and Ratchel didn't marry, it is wrong to have a sad and forced start. This also makes room for relationship complications when Mike will be in prison. The only thing that worries me is the firm, no employees, nothing! and all Mike cases are in danger!

Finally, I think it will be extremely entertaining to watch Mike in prison, how witty can he be in this new environment. I hope they give a good amount of screen time to prison period.

Hit below the belt
Just-A-Girl-1418 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I was really pissed off when I realized that Mike took a deal to go to prison for two years when the verdict was not guilty. We all know it can happen in real life but what on earth were the writers thinking??? That's like a punch in the gut to every single viewer! First of all it irritating to watch and secondly it makes them look stupid. It's not the first time it happened this season too. The only way to get Donna out of trouble was to let murderers go free and now they couldn't get Mike out of jail and keep the firm alive? Are they the best lawyers or the worst? I like this show a lot but I am not happy! I'm moving on to the sixth season and I'm seriously hopping it's better than the fifth!

Strong season ending
chunkylefunga8 August 2021
Rare for a show to still be decent in it's 5th season but the 2nd half of this season has been exceptionally strong and this ending shows that Suits isn't the kind of show that just follows a formula and does what you expect it to do.

Hoping season 6 has just as many twists and turns and that it isn't just resolved in the first 10 mins of season 6.

One of the best episodes in Suits
tarascopablo3 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Season 5 finale is just amazing. A very strong ending to a very complex season. The season had many interesting plots like the takeover attempt yet again by recurring antagonist Hardman but also the whole Mike getting exposed and having his trial.

The ending was for sure not the expect outcome but it gives the showrunners more freedom to develop the characters with Mike in prison and to see how he will eventually get out and the impact it will have both in his work and personal life.

The whole Mike getting exposed was eventually going to happen and it was managed in a very good way now they hace to manage him getting out in a clever way as well.

Loophole to thrash the deal Mike signed
advptg4 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
The season 5 finale starts with Mike signing the deal with Gibbs, and pleading guilty to fraudulent practice of law. Although Harvey tries his best to search for loopholes to tank the deal, he finds none.

I have an idea on this aspect. According to my understanding, there should be a lawyer for the accused, when he is making a deal with the District Attorney. The lawyer has to ratify that deal before it is presented before the judge. If that is so, when Mike pleaded guilty, he becomes a person without a law degree. This makes him all alone, without proper legal representation, during the plea bargaining process. Since, Harvey, the leading lawyer in the case did not ratify the deal, signature of mike alone would not make the deal valid. Mike cannot be an accused pleading guilty and a lawyer for himself ratifying the guilty plea, all at once, when the charge against him is fraudulent practice of law. This contradiction was not noticed by the judge, who accepted the deal.

In such circumstances, I believe, there is a legal way to reopen the guilty plea, for lack of proper legal representation for the accused, during the plea bargaining process.

Let's hope to see some more fun and legal action in the next season of Suits.!

Too much like Prison Break
pyr-0993810 May 2018
This show started out so well. Clever & quick writing, great characters! Then Mikey got cocky & bratty around season 4. Before Gibbs even got on his case he wanted to clear his name & quit. No more sleepless nights. He'll work at McDonalds as long as he's not living a lie & Rachel's all too happy to keep her little burger flipper. Enter Gibbs aggressive investigation. Bam! Now Mike's gonna do what he does best & be an attorney, because that's who he is! It was so ridiculous. This show started out so well & it's gone the way of Prison Break, which was probably the worst show EVER!

Worst episode of the series
dneuland31 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Just when I thought Mike couldn't be any more selfish or naive, he makes the worst possible decision for literally everybody on the series while thinking, as usual, that he's doing the right thing. His fate at the end of the episode is well deserved. Though I know he appears in at least two more seasons, I'd rather he didn't.

In Memoriam ... The Writers Crossed My Red Line
paradux2 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The first job of a reviewer is honesty. So I will be honest.

Used to be one of my faves. Seasons 1-3 were great. Season 4 seemed to lack energy.

At the top of Season 5 when once again Mike's "secret" became the main arc, I started to get a bit bored but stuck it out.

When I realized that the last half dozen episodes of the season were about the "trial" I was transfixed.

However going into this Season finale I was started to feel like the writers were actually over-writing. Too many cliff hangers, too many coincidences, too many old characters suddenly being recycled like in a Walmart sale.

This episode almost had me. Until the very end, where we learn that Mike got a NOT GUILTY verdict but took the deal anyway...

In the writing biz, that is considered viewer manipulation. Of course all writing in all movies is a form of viewer manipulation but most often it is consensual. That is, viewers WANT to be entertained.

But they don't want their heads messed with, which is what happened here. To be honest I gave up on the series after this episode but kept in touch with friends who continued well into Season 6.

Based on what I was told, this episode marked a "transition" for a show which was leaking ratings, and Season 6 was the reboot.

Good for the show. But they will proceed without this viewer.

Bottom line, up to this point in the series, I trusted the writers to entertain me without making me feel manipulated.

That trust no longer exists.

What a BS ending to a great series
erolkunman5 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I think the producers and writers wanted to make the final episode of the series so BS, that nobody could ever want the show to continue.

And they succeeded.

This is the end and don't expect to see any new Suits episodes in the future.

Too much emotional drama.. Too much illogic... No humour. All the great dialogue from previous series...gone.

I never expected/hoped for a "happy ending", but maybe a surprising one. Unfortunately we got a depressing episode and that's not what looking for in entertainment industry.

Boy, what a letdown it was...wasted hour from my life.

Worst episode of the series.
Anthoney9993 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I can't believe how they have totally ruined what was one of my favorite shows. They have taken away the primary idea behind the show. This is the end for me. I won't be watching this anymore. I don't think I could even rewatch any of the earlier episodes because of what they did here. If all the writers, directors and producers died in a fiery plane crash it would be more than they deserve. They let the bad guys win. There were several wonderful performances. All of them were overshadowed by what actually happened. This episode drives a stake through the heart of the show. This is supposed to be an upbeat show with clever characters who struggle moral and legal issues. In the end this show should leave me happy. This did not.
