Poor screenplay, ponderous acting

Filming it in B&W did help to give the movie an "old west" flavor, but the acting was frankly quite poor. The actors sound like they're reading the scripts for the first time, and tend to speak in a slow, ponderous manner. Also, the storI-751yline tends to be somewhat broken and doesn't flow very smoothly. They did what they could with such a smallnumber of actors on both sides as compared to the real event. Withoutspoiling the plot, I'll just say that what actually happened at Sand Creek was far more vivid than how they depicted it in the movie.

Unbelievable. Really.

I'm an author working on a historical novel leading up to the Sand Creek Massacre. While doing some online research for this project, I stumbled across this movie about Silas Soule, one of my main characters. Of course, I HAD to start watching it.

Oh my god. The acting reminded me of a school play. And I know that casting someone with the exact same features as the character they're playing isn't all-important, but in a time when hair and beard styles were particularly distinctive, why couldn't they be bothered with trying to make the actors at least resemble their characters?

Not to mention the fact that much of the information presented was flat out wrong.

Honestly, I've never seen such a bad "historical" production.
