Light, comedic episode.
TouchTheGarlicProduction21 February 2016
This is the first episode of The Walking Dead to contain moments of... comedy? Sounds strange, doesn't it. Normally, after a tragic "event" episode like last week's, we take a couple episodes to wallow in everyone's sorrow. This time, we skip right over all the filler, get right to the part where things are getting back to normal. The episode isn't a comedy, there are very dark moments. But it provides some much needed rest. This could have easily been another filler episode where nothing much happens and it's thoroughly depressing throughout. But it wasn't. It it wasn't boring or depressing. The moments in it where you have fun work because they're coming right off of such a heavy episode, and you know it's going to get very dark again soon. To do this eye of the storm in a fun way is something rare for Walking Dead, and that's what this episode pulled off.

The episode's main features are an iconic new character from the comics and a surprising new relationship. These are both introduced very well. The plot with Spencer felt a little out of place in this episode, but it was fine. At the centre of the episode is Daryl and Rick on a road trip. I do have a couple of problems with the episode. The Spencer scenes and the Enid scenes felt a little flat. There was some very blatant product placement in one scene. And there were some common tropes re-used. But on the whole, this was a fun episode; something rare for Walking Dead. It's a good setup for things to come, and it doesn't just feel like filler.

Did I just watch an enjoyable episode of The Walking Dead?
snoozejonc23 January 2022
Rick and Daryl go on a supply run.

For me The Walking Dead (so far) is a very compelling and well made show, but due to the subject matter it is a stretch to say that I actually enjoy it. I experience it. This however, is a relatively calm and dare I say lighter episode than usual.

There is little bit of a time jump and some of the residents of Alexandra appear to be in a comparatively peaceful place which is satisfying to watch.

The scenes involving Rick and Daryl do have plot contrivances that portray the characters making stupid decisions. From the moment they make the big find, they should floor it back to Alexandria, stopping for nothing. However, what we see is humorous and entertaining enough to make me forgive the implausibility. I also enjoyed the awkward conversation between Denise and Daryl at the beginning very much.

For once I actually like an on screen romantic pairing. It works so much better in situations like this when characters have been through meaningful experiences together and the romance develops. Whether or not the writers will actually let it work out or doom it to a typically TWD miserable end, only time will tell, but it is a welcome break from all the death and brutality.

The other plot thread in the woods is fairly well done. Elements of it are a retread of previous themes involving Carl and his mother, but it leads on to more development for his character and another.

All actors are on great form, particularly Norman Reedus, Andrew Lincoln, and Danai Gurira.

As ever the cinematography and editing is spot on for the visual storytelling.

Confused
LiamCullen622 February 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Upon finishing watching this week's episode of TWD, I'm totally confused.

How is Jesus so good/quick at escaping knots? How on earth did he manage to get atop the truck? How did he not have to convince Rick and Daryl to spare his life after he made a fool out of them and attacked them? How did he slip past/subdue Daryl at the end of the episode? Is he actually Jesus? Because that's the only possible conclusion I can reach when I add up all of the ludicrous moments in this episode.

Sure, I get that Rick's got this new mindset and he's now got a different, more optimistic approach towards Alexandria and the future, but it just seems so juxtaposed to how we know them both to be. No way would they let him just casually stroll away after the first time they meet him, and most certainly not after the second time once he'd stolen their truck and nearly beat the sh*t out of them! This felt like it was a little - dare I say it - unrealistic; we know all too well that the punishment for such behaviour against our survivors is often the death penalty, thus seeing Jesus get off so lightly seems rather peculiar.

The closure granted with Deanna's demise seemed to resemble filler. We left Deanna at the end of the mid-season finale, in which she had a very clear exit. I don't think it was necessary at all to revisit, especially since nobody really cares about her son anyway.

In addition, the truck with the gratuitous stash of food in it rolling into the water was very face-palm worthy. Some called this slapstick comedy, I'd call it painfully silly. D'oh!

That being said, I did like this episode. Despite it being entirely different to last week's stellar episode, it was still entertaining. What better duo to watch than Rick and Daryl? I hope we see them back out together again soon.

Daryl and Denise's exchange at the beginning was hilariously awkward. You can see how easily the actors are able to embrace their characters.

Eugene's conversation (if you can even call it that) with Rick and Daryl as they were leaving Alexandria was equally awkward. But then again, that's just Eugene, isn't it?

I thought it was interesting that on the memorial wall of fallen survivors, Glenn's name is semi-filled in; it's neither been entirely removed nor has it been definitively painted on. Perhaps this is some light foreshadowing, since with all of the close-calls he's been having recently it's uncertain as to whether or not he'll last much longer.

That being said, where was Glenn in this episode? And no Carol either unfortunately. Melissa McBride (the actress who plays Carol) has become such a joy to watch that any episode without her in it seems lacking.

The Michonne and Rick thang? My first reaction was, "Oh please no..." but upon reflection, I think they may be the most dangerous power couple to have ever been on the show! And I'm all for that.

There's also an interesting cliffhanger which keeps us eager for next week's episode. I'm really hoping they'll then explain some of the illogic surrounding Jesus as this episode felt quite strange at times, although it was enjoyable nevertheless.

Richonne? About time
Serenity300030 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The writers of The Walking Dead were really on a roll in Season 6. Back to back excellent episodes. This episode was a nice break from the usual doom and gloom of the series. It was hilarious watching Jesus make fools out of Rick and Darryl. I read the comics, so I know Jesus was quick and he had all the moves in the comics. I could get himself out of any situation and I love his addition to the series. I've always loved the bond between Michonne and Carl and this episode only enhanced that love. Michonne, without knowing it really has been a mother figure for Carl to contrast to the tough love Rick gives him sometimes. Carl was the first one back in Season 3 to accept Michonne as being apart of their "family" and Rick fell in love also. I wish Richonne had happened sooner, but I understand the writers had to play the Jessie angle because it was also in the comics. Since Andrea died on the show, but she's alive in the comic books...Michonne gets Andrea's arc as being Rick's long term lover and "wife" and I'm more than pleased about that. Michonne is just as capable as leading the group as Rick, if not more because she is more level headed than Rick. This was a perfect union that fit the show and the future storylines. Jesus waking up the sleeping Rick and Michonne after a night of sex was another hilarious moment from this awesome episode.

Slow, but really enjoyable
kobedawson29 June 2021
I can tell that there weren't that many actors featured but it still lead to an enjoyable episode that I wouldn't mind watching again any day of the week. This didn't feel like another boring, slow paced episode as this had me invested, interested, and intrigued just based off one new character. Also, Great choice, Rick. Definitely better than Lori👍.

8.9/10.

A nice light episode after an intense start to the second half of the season
TheDonaldofDoom27 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Normally after an eventful episode which sees lots of characters killed, the characters spend next episode staring at a wall mulling over the meaning of life. It also usually leads to many lines of poetic-sounding dialogue that doesn't actually mean anything. That's why it's refreshing for the follow-up to No Way Out not to be wasted on events that have already taken place, but instead to move on. Hell, I don't even think Jessie was mentioned at all.

It's implied that this episode takes place a while after the last episode as many of the characters are, surprisingly, actually genuinely happy. I'm sure it won't last long because in WD it never does, but it marks a pleasant change of tone. That's not to say everyone's ecstatic though, as part of the episode involves Spencer and Michonne stabbing and burying Deeana's Walker. It's a sad moment and it feels meaningful. It's the main link to the previous events but it doesn't take up the entire episode, instead leaving room for other stuff.

So it's annoying that some of this 'other stuff' is stupid and fillerish. The truck ending up in the lake is a classic example of WD stupidity. How did Jesus untie himself so quickly then get on top of the truck as it left? Why was it so hard for Rick and Daryl to stop him from getting into the truck? And then HOW THE HELL did this end with the truck in the lake? Honestly, this is so unbelievable it's a good job that every other element of this episode was perfect, or I'd be giving it a much lower score.

The episode ended with a surprising scene between Rick and Michonne. Seeing as they're two of the hardest characters in the entire show, they'd sure make a good couple! Although it's hilarious how afterwards the sheet was on top of their private parts, and isn't it funny how Michonne was lying on her front? American TV and its strange regulations, you can have brutal violence but no nudity under any circumstances! For us Brits it makes no sense!

Just the feels you needed after the previous episode!
and_mikkelsen10 February 2024
Previous episode was INSANE!! So this episode was a great breath of fresh air, giving us a more calm episode, that actually had some comedic and feel-good moments between characters!

This episode was not as eventfull but was instead carried by the moments between characters! I enjoyed the dynamics between Daryl and Rick! Its rare to just see these two together! Rick realising you had to band together and trust the people of Alexandria, was a great arc for him!

The episode also introduces Jesus which creates some of the most hilarious moments in the show! A nice change of tone to keep you from all the darkness in this world!

Warning: Spoilers
What a nice episode. It is entertaining, well-written, funny and also touching. And there is finally another love-interest-plot, yeah! I really enjoyed this episode. Jesus is a freaking cool yet uneven character and the scenes with him and Daryl are hilarious. Man, I love the cast. Superb acting throughout. Highly enjoyable.

I think Denise is an important part of the community and her character developed from episode 2 (JSS) on in a very well-executed way. Also Spencer has nice moments in this tenth episode of season 6. Oh, Carl is also in this episode, actually in a pretty good condition. I think one or two months have passed since the crazy stuff Alexandria went through in the previous episode.

I can't wait for more and in my humble opinion this show never gets boring. It's so interesting and I always want to know what happens next. Another week of waiting... Ugh!

A Cool And Fresh Episode
maxh-68-85325620 February 2016
Warning: Spoilers
"The Next World" is a pretty cool episode with funny moments. It's set a few weeks/months after the events of episode 9. Daryl and Rick meet a guy called Jesus and he is such an intriguing character! I love the dialogue in this episode. The scenes with Michonne, Spencer, Enid and Carl are also nice. I wonder whether we'll see more of Tara and Heath this season since they're on a supply run. Tara is one of my favorite characters and I want to see more of her! I loved the rather positive tone of this episode. There's a new romantic side-plot which is well-executed and so refreshing and satisfying. The acting is - as usual - pretty amazing. Carl's further development will be interesting and Enid really grows as a character. Spencer has an important scene in this episode. I'm really enjoying TWD, it captivates me since season 1. I love the development of the characters and the world they have to adapt to. I've the feeling that season 6 is a very significant part of TWD, especially the second half. I can't wait for the next six episodes!

Meeting Jesus
claudio_carvalho6 March 2016
Alexandria is short of supplies and Rick and Daryl find a truck loaded of supplies in a storeroom. While driving back to Alexandria, they meet a stranger called Jesus that steals the truck from them. Rick and Daryl track him down and find him on the road with a flat tire. Carl and Enid go to the woods just to walk. Michonne sees Spencer sneaking out Alexandria with a shovel and she decides to go with him. Soon she learns what he is looking for.

"The Next World" is a reasonable episode of "The Walking Dead". Good to see that Carl has recovered from the shot on the face. Rick and Michonne together are kind of weird. The best moment is when Spencer finds Deanna. But the attitude toward Jesus is quite silly after retrieving the truck as well as bringing him to Alexandria. My vote is seven.

Title (Brazil): "The Next World"

Note: On 24 April 2016, I saw this show again.

A fresh start after the chaos ! Epic episode !!
rocky-omer22 February 2016
Warning: Spoilers
****SPOILER WARNING**** Wow ! what an episode ! a very good and a fresh start after the chaos. the time jump is neatly presented with the episode being comedic with a bit of slight romance towards the end. really happy to see the two warriors finally getting along. this was indeed a long time coming , although some fans might find it a bit unusual and a lot of racism might also take place. but i hope it doesn't since i really adore this new relationship and bonding ! we see a new character which is completely based on the comics and the writers did a pretty good job in introducing him to us ! we come across an emotional scene where we see the ex Alexandria leader Diana Monroe walking around a dead corpse. sadly for walker Diana , her son Spencer had to put her down. above all, it was one of those refreshing episodes that calm everyone's mind down after a chaotic episode

! cannot wait for the next one !

The New World
ThomasDrufke21 February 2016
After one of the most thrilling and easily one of the best episodes of the entire series' run, this week took a step down in its intensity and quality. Not that this was by any means a bad episode, it was just a very slow and calm episode. I mean, after last week's episode, we probably needed something a little lighter, and opening the episode playing 'More Than a Feeling' was a good way to send those vibes to the viewers.

I don't read the comics, so the Rick and Michonne romance was a little strange at first, but as I've started to think about it, it's beginning to make more sense. Seems to me like Michonne is the first woman he's been with that he doesn't have to worry about when she's by herself. So although it's a little weird right now, I'm definitely open to the idea of it going forward. Change can be good, but I'm also aware that every great relationship doesn't have to be a romantic one. We shall see where it goes though.

There were a few other revelations this week as we met the apparently famous comic character Paul Monroe, AKA Jesus. Watching Daryl and Rick go through so much trouble to take him down, tie him up, and then take him to Alexandria was pretty fun and had less of an ominous tone than something like this would usually have. Although, from the last scene, it sure seems like Rick's optimistic idea of taking him in will turn out to have further implications. It's also hilarious to hear that Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus watched Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid in preparation for their road trip.

One of the surprises of this week was that this episode took place weeks after last week's episode (2 months according to Danai Gurira on Talking Dead). That to me feels like the last episode should have been the mid-season finale to correlate the two month break a little more properly, no matter, both episodes worked. While Michonne and Rick's scene didn't completely resonate with me, Carl and Michonne's scene did. I haven't been the biggest fan of the Carl character, but he's been winning me over of late. Leading Deanna to Spencer was a risky but thoughtful thing to do and a nice reference to what he had to go through with his mother a few seasons ago. So overall, not as exciting as last week's episode, this week showed some of what the rest of the season can offer.

+Carl and Michonne

+Rick and Daryl road trip

+Introduction of Jesus

+Carl helping out Spencer

-Richonne feels a little bit strange

-Time jump was a little bit much

Hmmmm...
eulchen522 February 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I have to admit I expected more of this episode. I see to a certain point that one or two laughs every now and then aren't a bad thing, but it was a bit too much for my taste this time. And the way Rick and Daryl act was quite illogic to me. Rick with all his history, with knowing how people are these days, - and just after having seen another human, his late love interests son, shooting out his own sons eye - the very same Rick is now as naive as he was in the beginning of the show - whereas it was understandable back then due to his lack of knowledge and experience.

This guy Jesus cheats them out of the supply truck like two schoolboys, they follow him on foot, catch him again, get the truck back, he cheats them again, this time resulting in the loss of the truck with all the supplies and then they - take this same guy with them to Alexandria??? Like, WHY? Why would somebody like Rick do something so stupid after being jerked by that guy twice in a row? Because he sees things different now, has hope for everything again? I didn't get the part why he would have had that immense change of feelings? I see that he was impressed that in the end everybody in Alexandria fought together against the hordes of walkers, but that is it? Sorry, I don't buy it. To get out of an emotionally dark place doesn't mean you simply forget all you went through? Not convincing for me.

For the rest of the episode: I'm sorry to admit it but I don't care much for Spencer. I also don't care much for Enid. What about the main characters? Where was Carol? Glenn? Maggie's pregnancy? Anything? I don't mind the idea of Rick and Michone together, I actually thought a long time ago they would be a good match after what they've been through together and their level of trust in each other. But to put this in the end of the episode just to being interrupted completely naked like fools, again, by Jesus, who again managed to free himself from being tied up like a parcel? Nah. I really hope this gets better soon!

Finally!!!
amrcncpprhd23 February 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Well, I'll start of by saying I loved tone of this episode. There was light humor, a little action with the Rick, Daryl, and Jesus scenes, and more emotional scenes with Michonne, Spencer, Carl, and Enid. The episode overall was pretty fulfilling and a nice relief after the intense episode last week. Yes, there were a few silly mistakes but I think it worked out pretty well.

That being said, I've always thought Rick and Michonne would make an awesome couple. I have seen the chemistry between them since S3 and have waited *patiently for them to act on it. The Rick and Michonne scene was very nicely done. It had a grown-up feel to it that appeared natural rather than forced. I think they make perfect sense together and I'm glad they are both happy. I would have liked to see what happened between the jumps but it was a great episode. Rick and Michonne are finally a couple. Yes!!! Notable mentions: Carl telling Michonne that he would have done it for her was very sweet. Michonne telling Spencer that he does have a family and a home was also pretty touching. I loved the scenes with Rick and Daryl, they always work well together. And Jesus...wow. He's a handful from the start and I love it. I regretfully haven't read the comics but I'm looking forward to seeing where all of this leads.

Those resources though...
sakuramaurya23 February 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I liked the way they didn't show that it was Diana till the end (so it all clicked what Spencer was doing and why Carl did not kill the 'unknown walker'). Nice suspense there.

Daryl and Rick being brothers, i liked that a lot.

But that Jesus guy, as soon as Rick and Daryl left the truck for that gas station, i knew straight away that it would get stolen (predictable). It frustrated me but Jesus guy may turn out to be a really good guy so.....losing ALL those GOOD resources BEST BE WORTH IT. Sorry, it pains me so much...those waste of resources. I hope they find a way to pull it out of the water.

Rick and Michonne....Oolala....i like it. I shouldn't be surprised because they already act like husband and wife but i was still surprised. But Jesus guy intruding...dude shouldn't have done that but we will see why next episode.

would have gotten a 9 from if they brought at least half of those resources home.

10 if they brought the truck home.

The Future of Glenn
ginaolson4 March 2016
Watching this season so far, one thing has been abundantly clear to me, the writers are telling us a lot about Glenn and it doesn't look to good. Glenn's character has always been a little reckless and quick to take chances, but it seems like this season that has been turned up to full blast. Starting with just the last episode, "No Way Out", you have dear Glenn overly panicked about Maggie. Yes, the tower she was on was swaying and yes, in theory it could have fallen and she could then be bitten buy the mob of walkers below, but, in what universe is it OK for Glenn to draw them away from her only to attract them to him with no escape route on manner in which to defend himself? Lucky for him Abraham saved him this time, but there have been too many close calls.

We have the always popular martyr Glenn ideas that only he can do, that never turn out so well for others that go along with him and often times put him into a very precarious situation almost on the borderline of "Are you serious?" The dragging out and the way the scene was shot in "Thank You" led many to believe that Glenn had died when he fell from atop of the dumpster. His name was removed from the opening credits adding fuel to the speculation and it wasn't for several more episodes that we would learn the truth about his fate.

My theory; I think that they either want us to become so disgusted with all of the risks that he has taken that when the time for his real character's death to arrive, (yes, it's coming) that it would almost be some type of relief and that the attention would then turn to Maggie which would have to deal with the aftermath of not only his death but raising their child without him. Or, that we'd become so dismissive or possibly angry towards Glenn's character that as awful as the scene may go down, that he caused his own fate.

There's also the other idea floating around out there that it could be Daryl's fate at the end of season 6 that's so viscous, since he has some projects going on and another show of his own. All I know is that it looks very suspicious to me that Glenn's character has been taking as many risks as he has especially since Maggie is pregnant.

"The Next World" is a refreshing change of pace that follows Rick and Daryl as they go on a supply run and encounter a new group of survivors
fernandoschiavi17 March 2024
Rick and Daryl go on a supply run where they find a truck with a large store of supplies. On the way back home, they run into Paul Rovia - though his friends call him Jesus - who tells Rick and Daryl that he was just running from walkers. Gunshots go off, but the two discover it was firecrackers, as Jesus steals their truck.

Just outside of Alexandria, Michonne catches up with Spencer, who she had seen sneaking over the wall. As they walk through the forest, Spencer won't say why he is out there, although Michonne notes that he has brought a shovel. Meanwhile, Carl and Enid are relaxing and reading nearby. A walker, whose face is left unseen, attacks the pair. Enid wants to kill it, but Carl refuses. Enid is angry, and also hurt that Carl won't discuss his reasoning with her. Soon afterward, Michonne and Spencer encounter the same walker. It is the reanimated corpse of Deanna, who Spencer sadly puts down. It then becomes clear that giving her final closure was the purpose of his search through the forest.

Rick and Daryl catch up with Jesus, and leave him tied up as they leave in the truck. Soon, though, Daryl realizes that somehow Jesus had escaped and is now hanging onto the top of the truck. As the truck slams to a stop, Jesus is thrown off, and Daryl and Rick fight with him. Unfortunately, while the struggle is going on the truck rolls backwards into a nearby pond. The truck sinks to the bottom.

That evening, Michonne tells Carl that she had seen him outside the walls, and asks what he was doing. He tells her that he too had wanted to put down Deanna. In the end, though, he couldn't go through with it. When Michonne asks why not, he explains that he felt that it needed to be done by her own family. He then tells Michonne that if he ever had to, he could put her down. She is touched.

Jesus, who was knocked unconscious immediately after saving Daryl from an approaching Walker, is taken back to Alexandria for questioning. Denise checks his head wound, after which he is locked in a storage room to keep him from again escaping.

As the night ends, Rick and Michonne sit having a relaxed discussion. They then realize that they have become too close to simply remain friends. They fall into a passionate embrace. The next day, as Rick and Michonne lie nude in bed, Jesus suddenly appears in Rick's room. He says they have to talk.

"The Next World" is a refreshing change of pace that follows Rick and Daryl as they go on a supply run and encounter a new group of survivors. The episode is notable for its lighter tone and humor, as Rick and Daryl embark on a road trip together and bond over their shared experiences. The episode also explores themes of trust and friendship, as Rick and Daryl must decide whether to trust the newcomers or treat them as a threat.

One of the most memorable scenes in the episode is when Rick and Daryl stumble upon a supply truck filled with food and supplies, a rare find in the post-apocalyptic world. This moment highlights the characters' resourcefulness and ability to find hope in even the darkest of times.

Wow. I felt like I'm watching a comedy show.
mitymaty9922 February 2016
Warning: Spoilers
It wasn't a totally bad episode like the previous one, but seriously guys? Episode made me laugh more than most of these modern "comedy" shows. What they did with the truck, and the guy they meet calls himself Jesus, plus that Enid+Carl scene in the forest. Carl was like women there's just problem with them. His face expression totally made the episode. Plus this whole Rick getting together with Michonne...., his previous "girlfriend" just got torn apart by zombies and he's like: "Hmmmmm, I like dark chocolate, don't mind if have a taste."

If they would add comedy to the genres it would be totally okay. As far as I can remember, correct me if I'm wrong, but Andrew Lincold said that this will be the most action packed 8 episode that he made. Good for him I say, if you know what I mean. Well it contains action, but a different kind.

Moving on
TheLittleSongbird4 February 2020
The first half of 'The Walking Dead's' Season 6 was rather inconsistent. The season started off brilliantly, with four superb episodes in a row. And then the season took a significant dip in quality with "Now", then improved step by step with the next three episodes before returning to disappointment with "Start to Finish". Luckily the episode starting off the second half saw a season and show return to form with one of its best episodes in a while in "No Way Out".

So after being blown away by "No Way Out", it was hard not to expect a lot of great things from the next episode "The Next World" (so this episode). Although this has a good deal to admire and it is still a more than worthwhile episode on its own terms, it was quite a big step down in comparison and had big potential to be even better. After such nail-biting intensity, it was interesting and appreciated to have a change of pace with a calmer and lighter episode. It mostly comes off well, but it is not completely successful.

It does have imperfections with the writing, which doesn't have the tautness seen in the episodes where 'The Walking Dead' is on top form. Some of it veers on awkward too, that may have been intentional but it went too far at times. Especially that for Denise and Eugene, the latter faring worst.

Not all the story works, some of it goes overboard on the silliness and the lapses in sense can frustrate, all cited in other reviews. Spencer's role to me didn't gel quite as well with the rest of the story/characters and didn't really serve much point.

Having said all of that, the production values in "The Next World", as usual with 'The Walking Dead' at this point, are top notch. The grit and audaciousness has not been lost. The music fits nicely and the direction lets the atmosphere and humour breathe while not losing the momentum too much. Most of the dialogue thought is thoughtful and the lighter tone was appreciated, and there are humorous moments light and dark that are genuinely amusing.

Most of the story also works quite well, the pace didn't feel meandering or anything despite the atmosphere being the complete opposite of the previous episode (quite a lot calmer). Personally didn't feel like it was too much of a filler episode and did feel that "The Next World" did a great job with the character relationships, not only are they interesting but there is a sense of advancement in story and characterisation and they also made sense. Most successful were Rick and Daryl, which had a lot of lovely moments, and Rick and Michonne, a lot of potential here. The acting is very good throughout, with the best performances coming from Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus, both excellent. As is Danai Gurira.

All in all, could have been a lot more but more than worthwhile still. 7/10

Totally contrived
sumpin_else-943-56701521 February 2016
Warning: Spoilers
It was painful to watch the contrived stupidity that the writers used to try and make their story line work. Especially bad was Rick and Darrel making a supply run and finding a perfectly good truck loaded with supplies, then abandoning their car and continue for no reason to look for more using the truck full of supplies. It gets much worse from there, it was like watching a bad Abbott and Costello. From the new guy running into them giving a lame story lighting fireworks to distract them and stealing the truck, which then then run after until at one point they conveniently catch up to because the has to change a tire. From there they tie him up and and intending to leave him there they sit there for a while minute or two and the guy unites himself and jumps on the truck which they don't show or hear until they find another place they want to check out and hear him then break to knock him off, Darrel jumps out of the truck starts running around after him in a slap stick runtime, while Rick drives around and finally parks a few feet from a lake a starts killing undead, then Darrel and the guy jump the truck fighting and in another slapstick routine manage to release the break. Realizing the truck is moving they both jump out instead of putting the break back on, and the truck rolls into the lake running over the new guy in the process, who they then take home with them. Terrible episode, there wasn't really anything in this episode that was worth bothering to watch.

Warning: Spoilers
This show continues to be a reality t.v show. At least reality t.v shows are ******* funny. (They aren't really). Rick and Daryl go on a run to look for supplies and they find a truck full of stuff. They start driving back but they stop to get more supplies. A man bumps into Rick and introduces himself as Jesus. They let him go and he runs away. Then Rick and Daryl hear shots. They go to investigate but it was a firecracker that Jesus set off. They realize that he swiped Rick's key when he bumped into him. They go back and Jesus has gone off with the truck. They chase after him, BY FOOT, and manage to catch up to him when he is stopped. They take the truck back and tie him up. But then, Jesus is revealed to be on the roof so they start chasing him. But then, Jesus takes control of the truck again. But then, Daryl knocks him out. But then, the truck auto-drives into a pond. OH NO! This episode is so s*****. What else happens? Oh? Carl and Enid gets scenes in the woods together for absolutely no reason. What else could possibly happen in this episode. Oh. Spencer and Michonne spend an unnecessary in the woods just so Spencer could kill his dead mom. Why? Oh because it has to be 40 minutes of course. And in this 40 minutes the only important thing that happens is that they meet Jesus, and Rick and Michonne get together.

Fun episode
jjawilliams3 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was a fun departure from the hand wringing episodes that the walking dead usually delivers to us after such a dark previous episode. The team up of Rick and Daryl on a run can't miss. They get lucky enough to find a delivery truck full of the food and various items that they were in searching for right off the bat. BUT are unusually stupid in the fact that they don't just drive it immediately back to the settlement to preserve everything they found and end up chasing around Jesus in a field with the damn truck and lose it in a pond. How frickin ridiculous is the writing for that segment?! Still with the exception of those few scenes the episode is solid, but gets a 7 because of the truck.

Was I watching an orange crush advertisement?
evanbro21 February 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This shows biggest flaw is that it lacks any sort of plot. This episode proves my point entirely. Absolutely nothing occurs this episode whatsoever. You have Michonne bushwhacking with some secondary character no one cares about. You have Carl bushwhacking w/ some character no one cares about. Then you have Rick and Daryl pursuing some new character the whole episode while advertising orange crush soda as much as they possibly can! I would be fine w/ some downtime if there was actually character development, decent dialogue and actual plot progression...

All the while Rick is doing just fine. It's not like his ex-lover was just devoured by zombies last episode... Nope, Rick is able to go straight into the rebound relationship w/ Michonne!

Then the show just forgets about 90% of the cast entirely. I guess its out of the shows budget now to include every single character in each episode now.

Anyways, I could ramble on all night about how flawed this show is in general, but these were just my main grievances w/ the episode. This review will most likely be at the bottom as well from Walking Dead fanatics flagging this down as not helpful, but we all know better.

An episode of why
louisahlgren8 June 2021
Rick and Daryl acted out of character. Dumbed down, as if all their experience has disappeared for a while.

Why was this script / episode approved? It didn't make sense.

Please don't change characters, to fit how you want a story to go. Make it smarter. Rewrite, until it would make sense.
