Did Matilda kill herself? Or was she murdered? Found by her cleaner, death in a bath, Matilda is wearing a scold's bridal.
The tradition of Minette Walters dramas continues, following the success of The Sculptress and Ice House.
Part one, dark, but perhaps not as dark as previous works, despite the bleak imagery of Matilda being discovered dead in the bath. A truly dysfunctional family, all pretty awful characters, with the exception of Sarah.
The story is good, but not my favourite, but the performances more than make up for it. First of all, Sian Phillips, only a small role, but an incredible actress, masses of charisma. Richardson is fantastic as Sarah, perfect casting. Trudie Styler, as always, fantastic, captivating to watch.
Very strong opener. 8/10
