One major deal-breaker for me Warning: Spoilers
"I Hate Myselfie" is a 13-minute live action short film from 2015 that was written by Shane Dawson and directed by Michael j. Gallagher. But the star here is obviously Dawson, who has a Youtube channel with millions subscribers and this video has millions of clicks too on Youtube. Apparently, this video is supposed to promote Dawson's autobiographic book and he is still under the age of 30 today, so yeah you see the cash machinery is working full speed it seems. About this film, I cannot even say that it is a bad film. The acting is okay, one or two jokes work pretty well, but the one problem I have here is authenticity. I am always really suspicious if Youtubers talk about their childhood and teenage years because virtually all of them were outsiders and they describe themselves as pretty unattractive most of the time. This one here is no difference, but I wonder to what extent anything you see or hear in here is true. To me, the film has zero authenticity to be honest. Quite a shame. I believe this could have been an actually decent work if Dawson had gone the fictitious route and I maybe even would have recommended it because honestly the production values aren't bad. You can see there's some true pros working on this one, in terms of make-believe, not in terms of creative artistry. Of course the fans believe everything they see in here. I don't. Major thumbs-down.

As someone who, this was one of their first exposures to Shane Dawson this Intrigued me how, Dawson who in the short film was obviously quite overweight, how he got to where he is today. I hate My Selfie brought light onto how people are actually treated in high schools. While most people are oblivious to how it happens and causing the short film to seem fictitious. Dawson has taken a chapter from his autobiography and brought it to life.
